Who has used AVOCADO as a deep conditioner?

Okay, I am not sure what thread I read about how good a homemade avocado deep conditioner was, but anyway I decided to do one over the weekend. I mixed one whole hass avocado, with lots of honey and olive oil. Anyway, I did this for my pre poo deep condition and sat under the dryer for about 25 mins. Everything was cool until it came to me washing this gunk out. Ladies I had avocado in my hair for days...So my question is, who on the board has tried this, and what do you do to combat having avocado bits all in you hair? My coworker at work said I was suppose to use mayo and tomatoes......huh? :perplexed

Imma say negative on the mayo & tomato - what she think you makin' a sammich:lachen: :lachen:

back to the topic: I've heard that sitting under the dryer is a no, no with avocado, but I could be wrong.

I puree my overripe avocado and mix it with mayonnaise. The result is a mixture that works well as a pre-treatment and a good dip. :yep: Hope that helps.

I'd hold the tomatoes though. Diluted tomato juice/sauce can be used as a final rinse to get rid of stinky hair.

I mix avocado, olive oil and mayonnaise in the blender so they're are no chunks. Also no heat which could "cook" what is really food into your hair. This concoction isn't bad (my hands feel really soft), but I'm just as happy with plain EVOO as a pre-wash treatment.

I've been wanting to try the avacodo for a while now. Now I know not to use heat

Hey you guys don't laugh I really though this was going to work....I don't remember reading "no heat"  ...no wonder the avocado had turned greenish brown when I was done, I guess I had burnt it. But...uh yea, my coworker threw me off with the whole tomato and mayo, she said in her country they put it on their babies heads to make their hair grow thicker and longer.

Nope...can't do the avocado. I did that conditioner that was posted a while ago and my fine hair was hard as board. Nope, never again!:nono:
