My hair is crazy thick as well and a little pass shoulder length. I'm going to try the VO5 with water and honey mixture. Optimus...shikakai (1 part) and amla (2 parts) is that the oils or the powders? and the "Part" measurement is that tsp or tblspn measurement?
One thing I've noticed about my hair is that while it soaks up the moisture whenever I use the oils they just "sit" on my hair and make my scalp itch. So I'm finding that I can't use a LOT of oils...but my hair does like the oil and like almost everyone else..it soaks up the moisturizers. I tried to use the Aphogee leave in and it leaves my hair very "straw" like. I've been doing a "braid out" style and love it for now. Can anyone tell me where I can buy that Pantene Creme dress that is suppose to make combing your roots easy?? I've gone to way too many stores and can't find it.
GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use the powders only. I may eventually try a maka oil that I've been eyeing in the shop, but otherwise I don't use any ayurvedic oils.
To mix the powders, I just buy a 200g box of amla and a 100g box of shikakai powder. I take a little rubbermaid/tupperware container from the dollar store, add the whole packs of each powder, and mix. I just use a heaping teaspoon to make a rinse. I rinse with it twice a week. I suppose the amount one uses can vary with hair length and thickness, though.
