WHO GOT STOOPID THICK HAIR???

My hair is crazy thick as well and a little pass shoulder length. I'm going to try the VO5 with water and honey mixture. Optimus...shikakai (1 part) and amla (2 parts) is that the oils or the powders? and the "Part" measurement is that tsp or tblspn measurement?

One thing I've noticed about my hair is that while it soaks up the moisture whenever I use the oils they just "sit" on my hair and make my scalp itch. So I'm finding that I can't use a LOT of oils...but my hair does like the oil and like almost everyone else..it soaks up the moisturizers. I tried to use the Aphogee leave in and it leaves my hair very "straw" like. I've been doing a "braid out" style and love it for now. Can anyone tell me where I can buy that Pantene Creme dress that is suppose to make combing your roots easy?? I've gone to way too many stores and can't find it.

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the powders only. I may eventually try a maka oil that I've been eyeing in the shop, but otherwise I don't use any ayurvedic oils.
To mix the powders, I just buy a 200g box of amla and a 100g box of shikakai powder. I take a little rubbermaid/tupperware container from the dollar store, add the whole packs of each powder, and mix. I just use a heaping teaspoon to make a rinse. I rinse with it twice a week. I suppose the amount one uses can vary with hair length and thickness, though.

I am going nuts here.
I have so much darn hair on my head.
I spend too much money on products.
My hair eats up everything.
And I'm not even SL yet.
How do you ladies "stretch" you product to last longer?

you are not alone girl. crazy thick here too. my hair makes me want to cry sometimes. but i've learned that having thick hair is a good problem, and it is manageable.

that's part of the reason i love cheapie botanical products so much, because my hair drinks up products. it needs major moisture.

i love aussie moist because it works & it comes in a big bottle for $5-6. i love trader joe's nourish spa because it works and is $2-3 a bottle. same goes for suave, tres semme, garnier fructis ... now i will spend more for all natural products (aubrey organics/dr.bronners/sheago ...) but i'd go through them too quickly as my regular no-poo. so i use them as leave-ins or to deep condition.

it's also the reason i use layered hydration (wms - wet/moisturize/seal) because it helps break down the bulk of my hair, and it helps to thoroughly saturate my hair, otherwise products don't penetrate & just sit on my hair looking crazy:) .. the added bonus of layering, is that it spreads/stretches the use of products, because i'm not depending on one to do all the work.

I used to layer my products too but i stopped because i tried going the less is more route. it dosent work for me!I'm going back to doing layering!:yep:

i got thick hair. when i was younger and my hair was long one of my brothers put a pencil in my fro and for a while i couldn't find it my mother had to help me look:lachen:.

LOL, this happened to me the other day. I had twisted my hair and I had to pin then down with the big bobby pins to hold them in place. Well, after waking up, unraveling the twist and wearing a twist-out all day, I got home to co-wash only to find, 4-5 bobby pins still in my hair. :lachen:My hair used to break all my hair clips and combs when I was little too, too much darn hair.

I look at a lot of pictures of members on this site and no one has hair like mine. My hair will always be thick. I used to envy people with thinner, finer hair but... well... I think I rather keep my thick stuff. :)

yup my hairs THICK;-) cheap cons work the best cus i need loads of i t! oils great too.. hemp, palm, coconut, jasmin, sometimes plain ol'sunflower.

My hair is uber thick, and dense. I apply products while my hair is wet, and distribute them with a tail comb or denman in small sections. This is the only thing that works. If I take a palm full of anything and try to run my hands through my hair, my hairline will eat it all up and be looking for more

I have thick hair too! I am having trouble stretching my relaxer. I just relaxed my hair last month and my NG has taken over! I couldn't even pin curl my hair because of my NG. But I guess thick hair is happy growing hair. I think! LOL!

I don't have thick hair, just hair envy. I'm checking in just too admire all the thick locks. I wish my hair was thick.

The left side of my hair is very thick. I have to get it thinned out to match the right side in thickness. I find that when I seal with oil, I don't have to use as much moisturizer; I can usually go two days without moisturizing and my hair will remain soft. I go through conditioner like crazy though.

Lol, I think I do. My hair is thick and dry as the Sahara desert. I have not figured out how to give my hair all the moisture it needs, but I'mma take it one day at a time.

OH MY -SOME THICK HAIRED LOVELIES IN THIS THREAD!

My hair is thick but fine - Does that make sense? I have a lot of hair per square inch and it laughs at hair accessories that are for regular folk (I have a graveyard of broken stuff). :ohwell:

I DO! I DO! I just learned that I wasn't moisterizing my hair enough anyway! So I will be in the same expensive boat as you soon!

My hair is OUTRAGEOUSLY thick! I try to keep it in protective styles because I just dont have the patience for it. I was considering just keeping it at the length its at now, cause I cant imagine me having to the same things I do now with LONGER hair.

Thick girl checking in!! When you guys are using the powders like amla and whatnot, does it not get stuck in your hair? I can never rinse out properly.

^^^^Okay Imma need some more pics of this here chile and all of this this this this this hair!!!!!!!!!

Clutching Pearls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, even though my hair is relaxed it still is pretty thick. Anyone who attempts to do my hair has to repeat it to me many times over. When my NG comes in, it comes in very dry and thick and it's very difficult to comb.

WOW! her hair is out of this world.

I used to think I had thick hair until I found this board. I have no idea why my stylist used to complain about my hair requiring so much conditioner, etc. soaking it all up.

My hair is EXTREMELY thick. I can't stretch too long because it already takes forever to part through it when doing my relaxer. I have to do it in halves because there's no way I can do my whole head without over processing some parts and under processing others.

I just grab a bunch of product and load it on while it's wet. It takes forever to do everything with thick and very dense hair. Stoopid thick is an understatement.

Me, crazy thick head over here! Oh the combs and brushes I've broken. My hair braider hates braiding my hair b/c it takes too long. Cheap flat irons really have no chance, and hot combs refuse to go through my hair no matter how small the sections  A ponytail is an olympic event & I count it as part of my daily strength training to try and do one. :look: My hair has always grown thicker vs. longer. I'm trying to get it to grow longer...which is why I'm on LHCF :yep:

Oh yea, and I like banana clips, but they don't like my hair. One of the ends always un-snaps so I can never close the darn thing.

I shudder to think what a landfill must look like with all of our broken, snapped off, twisted, mangle, destroyed hair tools and ornaments.

We could probably fill a landfill with just the things we have used and destroyed. Or at the very least a large garbage truck!!

And ahhh errrmmmmaaaa Finally Free, I am serious. We will need more pics of our new Thick Hair Leader Princess Finally Free!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yep:
