My mum was doing it for me. Untill she ran the relaxer through to the ends twice. Then i did it my self twice and didn't do well so i just stopped relaxing my hair because it seems like i can't trust anyone with it.

I go to the salon I want to be confident to do my own relaxers by the end of the year so I will start practicing

I do my own relaxers. My mom did it until she thought I was old enough to do it myself. I've only had my hair done at a salon maybe 2 or 3 times. I don't like how bone-straight my hair is after going to the salon.

I go to the salon every 12 weeks. My stylist doesn't overlap, rinses/neutralizes properly, and knows the difference between dusting and trims.

Same here. That's the only time I go to a stylist. I just don't feel like going thru the troubles of trying to apply the relaxer. These are the reasons I let my stylist do it:
1. Can't see the back of my head
2. Don't feel like bending over the tub possibly getting relaxer cream in my eyes as I rinse out
3. Definitely don't wanna hop in and out of the shower as I'm rinsing the relaxer out
4. Afraid of a relaxer mishap and ruining my progress

Maybe one day I'll feel confident enough to do it myself. We'll see.

I do it myself. I used to get my hair done like clockwork at the salon, but after doing my own relaxer the first time, I DC'ed overnight and whent to get my hair set at a salon. The stylist said: You did the relaxer yourself?! You did so good! OMG, how did you get the back?

I've had a few setbacks since then due to overprocessing my hair with other things, but I would say I've truly learned a good application method that allows me to do my relaxer in a good amount of time and limits my possibility of overlapping. As a matter of fact, I did my relaxer a lil more than a week ago, and it turned out great! I still go to the salon, but only when I have a lont of newgrowth that I dont wanna deal with.
