i do mine n do it well..im just too scared to go to a salon for anything except braids to be honest i always feel like ill get out bald headed i needs a good hair stylist for sure
Can I use my regular relaxer in such a way so that I don't have to get it so straight. I have never had long natural hair, and I haven't had a relaxer since March, so now I have alot of new growth. Relaxers tend to break down the hair so much that it looks lifeless. I just want to relax some of the natural curl. I don't know what to do.
The last application, I applied it myself for the first time. It was so liberating!! It came out pretty good w no under/overprocessed parts unfortunately, I should have been more careful and covered my relaxed hair with something. Things to remember next time.
1. base scalp w oil day before
2. next day, base scalp with vaseline
3. use a color indicating neutralizer (who makes one w no COLOR INDICATOR!!!.. the one I buy..)
4. Protein treatment afterwards!!
I work at a salon so a co-worker does mine, but after this last one, I think I will either have only one of my co-workers or a stylist friend of mine put my relaxers in.
I tried DIY and I wound up underprocessing my hair and it broke in that spot. I may try it again. I don't know.
I'm too scared to do it myself! I feel that I will miss spots or not leave it in long enough. Or not wash it out completely. Basically, I am shook! That is the only thing that I do not do myself since I have taken control of my hair care. But I trust my stylist to do it. He actually listens to his clients!
my mother does my touch ups and basically is the one who has been
doing my hair for years since she is a hairdresser. i've only gone to a salon
like 3 or 4 times. i find it hard to just let anyone do my hair.
I voted a family member (since my grandmother or my mother do my touch-ups most of the time) I occasionally do it myself, but I never get it through as thoroughly as they do.
I have been doing my own relaxer now for over a year. It saves me money and i actually enjoy doing them myself. I also feel that my stylist does not neutralize my hair thoroughly enough for me which is another great reason why I prefer to do them myself.
