Mine:

Curly Girl Book
Ouidad
Andre's book

All have helped tremendously on my hair journey, but as with all things, some things work and others don't.

Andre
Shamboosie
Cathy Howse (both books)
Lonnice Bonner (both books)
Hair Rules
Paula Begoun, (does that count?)
Milady
Black's Woman's Guide to Beautiful Hair
Why Black Women are Losing Their Hair

There is one more I believe. I will look up the title when I get home.

Please forgive! I don't remember titles, only authors

Shamboosie
Lisa Akbari
Carolyn Gray
Barry Fletcher

I'd like to read some of the other hair care books. I'm going to see if I can find them at the library. I'd rather spend my money on hair care products vs. hair care books.

I've read Carolyn Grays book and "no lye" a guide for natural hair care. Carolyns book helped me learn a lot about maintaining my natural hair even though the books not specifically designed for natural hair care, I had to make small changes to suit my needs.
The book "no lye" helped me learn about some of the natural styles and gave how-to instructions on styling the hair.

I have read
beautiul black hair by shamboise
ander's book
lisa somethings book(curly hair girl In the front)
milady standard book of cosmeotolgy
when chemical and something doesn't work i thinks the cover is yellow and she has a serirerwes of books
paula ferrel

And why should you, Adrienne. Have you taken a look at YOUR hair lately?

I tell you one thing...I cannot wait for you to write your hair book so I can buy it and we can all go to Oprah and have that be the bookclub book of the month!

Any Reviews on Hair Rules?

For those of you who've read A. Dickey's book, 'Hair Rules'-what did u think?? I have it on my wish list. Is it worth the read??

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Any Reviews on Hair Rules?

It's not worth it. It's just like Ouidad's book. It focuses on less kinked curly hair, and has a few pages for the kinky curls.

Re: Any Reviews on Hair Rules?

Let's see I've read:

_Let's Talk Hair_
_No Lye_

_Curly Girl_
Lisa Akbari's Book
_Hair Rules_
_Let's Talk Hair_

Another Hair book which has poems about hair and the history of hair.

I've bought all but Dickey's Book

I agree. It's a book best thumbed-through at the book store.

Oh yeah, I forgot I had read "Destiny's Style" too (didn't buy it though) just to see what Beyonce's mom had to say about hair care/styling. I don't recall reading any information in that book that hasn't already been posted on this Board.

Howse
Andre
Shamboosie
Gray

Read through parts of Akbari's book in the store.

I've read Shamboosie's book and Destiny's style- which only has about 5 generic tips on good hair care.

[/ QUOTE ]

What were the 5 generic tips? I'm interested in what Tina has to say...

What did you think of Mr. John's book?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that his book is the explanation about all the black hair and instructional: how to wash your hair, to blow with a dryer and to press with the three combs: breakdown, straightener and edger, and required to curl the ends.

I'm really interested in Milady's Cosmetology book and Milady's Hair Care Product Ingredients Dictionary

I'll check my library too.
