I was wondering what areas You Ladies think you can BEEF Up on to Help You be more successful in reaching your Healthy Hair Goals? I've Included some Options and areas for you to think about.

Personally, I would like to get better at Self-Relaxing and Styling.

Styling--I wish I could do more styles, but I'll survive since I am a pretty plain person

Figuring out the ultimate moisture solution for my ends--I'm currently using JC Hair Nourishing Cream + KBB Hair oil. It's okay, but it doesn't get my ends as moist as I'd like them to be.

ITA. That's why I voted "technique". I think I've pretty much mastered the rollerset, but everything else.... I need work.

Me Too!:yep: I'd like to Master Better Self-Relaxing, Flat-Ironing and when I get some hair Roller-Setting :look:(which I never could learn to do tight enough)

Good thread t, i voted technique. Sometimes being natural is frustrating and i can't do alot of styles, i would like to learn how to braid and cornrow to give me more options on the days that im not feeling my hair.

I voted technique. I need to learn how to get my roots straighter during rollersets, how to roll tighter, and how to self-relax better without leaving so many underprocessed areas.

I voted products.

Right now my regimen is 95% solid. I just don't know how to fit protein in. I think if my next protein treatment goes wrong, I'll just skip it from now on.

I could also use some technique :yep: I can't cornrow at all.

OP, you didn't put my problem in your poll: CONSISTENCY

I now know what my hair needs and what to do to retain, even how often, and I've found the products I need.

But I never do these things like I'm supposed to. My regimen is to cowash daily, spritz with aphogee, then hawaiian silky, etc. and keep my edges taken care of. Do I do it? Nope.

I'm ticked up with myself for not keeping up with what I'm supposed to be doing and I could surely kick my own butt,

I like this thread, though.

I had issues with almost every last one of those key areas for quite a while, so always hid in protective styles. Thankfully, by leaving my hair out of protective styles for about a month, I actually found solutions to my problems.

Right now, I guess my only issue is length. My hair is in an in-between stage; I don't like the way low-manip styles like twistouts look 80% of the time and I can't do buns easily. Also, the day-to-day maintenance is time-consuming sometimes because of that. I actually think it will be easier when it's longer because I'll be able to do cute protective styles more easily. In the meantime, I keep having to fall back on fake hair for most of the year .

Definitely, A Smart Move TockTick! Very Smart.:yep:

Great thread! It really made me think. I voted UNDERSTANDING. I'm still learning how some product ingredients interact with my hair and how/when to use them. I feel like I have a lot of the pieces of the puzzle, I just need to have that 'a ha!' moment when I figure out exactly how they fit in place.
But I also agree on the CONSISTENCY option. I need to work on that a lot more.

I voted technique, but I think the answer is really 'a little bit of each category'

I think this is mostly b/c I'm new. I have products....just still trying to figure out which ones are the right ones w/o turning into a complete PJ

BUt yeah I suck the most at technique. I need to start starting youtube

Great thread. I voted knowledge as I’m very fortunate to have found all my staples therefore my aim now is to focus my attention on hair knowledge, remaining consistent with my simple regimen, technique and understanding my hair, and knowing exactly what it need’s when it needs it.

I would have to say knowledge and understanding. When I read tracyee's blog I'm always thinking how does she know when her hair needs protein? I will like to know more about products and which agree with my hair. If I had those two skills I believe my hair would be at least 2 inches longer than it is right now :-(

I voted technique; I can and have been relaxing my hair for ages, but can't roller set to save my hiney!. If it wasn't for electric curling irons, I'd be in deep do :wallbash:.

I chose technique. I've never been able to style my hair. Flat ironing requires too much time and patience. I tried to rollerset once and I never will again. When I came here and saw a big protective style was bunning I was like yes, yes, yes--I can do that! I have mastered twist outs. Meaning I can put my hair in twists that I would not go out in public in but I get a great result when I take them down. So I'm thinking the twist out will be the base of my style and I can go from there. I would love to learn to do more at some point.

I would like to learn more about ingredients. That is something I am working on now.

Understanding: I would say a better understanding of the "bad ingredients" and what conditioners are really proteins and what products really have "protein" in them. Once I get that understanding, I'm good.

For me it would be technique. I wanna do rollersets to see if they would make any difference at all but i hate sitting under the dryer so i just air dry and flat iron but even that doesnt get my roots as straight as i would like them to be, i guess its a give and take.

I'll have to say technique. I've mastered roller sets but I don't know how to do anything else.

I'm pretty good at knowing what my hair needs now and I know which products work well with my hair.

I votes technique because I can't rollerset. Do braidouts, flat twist or know how to flat iron to get that bouncy hair. Also a little bit of each other category especially knowledge because I can't tell when my hair needs protein or if its porous.

I voted understanding -- since joining LHCF I can: relax, color (well, rinse anyway), determine my moisture/protein balance, know which products work for me, rollerset, flexirod and curlform, and know when I need to clarify. I can't cut/trim, but I'm not trying to learn how. Practicing cutting has the potential to be too damaging! So I said understanding because I don't always understand the interactions in the ingredients that are in my products -- I just know whether they work for me.

I chose knowledge but I am pretty sure its sheer laziness.
My hair is still growing and the breakage has stopped since the big chop but I do not know how to manipulate my hair properly so that it looks... on point. Unless I just let it shrink and do its own thing. I cant even get a decent wave going... yet!:hair:

Amen and amen!

That's seriously the only thing that I'm missing. I know exactly what works for my hair and what my regimen is. And at this point I know more than is actually necessary for me to know, but I just like learning about haircare.

But if I could just get my ish together long enough to stay consistent with my haircare I would have retained far more by now. Seriously, laziness is messing me up. So I need to get a handle on that, quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Now if I had to choose something in the poll, I'd say technique. Even though I know how to do the styles I wear the most (puff, fro, bun, weave), knowing how to part my hair (neatly), cornrow (nicely), flat twist, and "style" my hair would be really helpful.
