What's in KEMI?

Just read the September thread about contents of Kemi Oyl. I went to CVS to buy more Neosporin for my nicely healing relaxer burns; looked to see if Kemi had finally listed the contents for its 'essential' oils, nope..but they did change the packaging, it's 'oyl' bottle is now encased in a box! The mystery:look: ingredient list is exactly the same.

I wish I knew.

It makes no sense anyway. Essential oils need a carrier oil anyway. There's no way, they can just have straight essentials oils in that bottle. Makes no sense.

I was wondering the same thing....

Why won't they print what's in the stuff?:look:

I was all ready to purchase, but put it back bcuz no ingredients!

Are they shams or what?:perplexed

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Ill bet one of their main ingredients is jojoba oil because of the color. I suspect that the ingredients are good because I must admit that I love the way my hair feels when I use it. For the price, I believe that they must have some pretty impressive "secret" ingredients.

It's been used for years...I remember when it first came out and it was considered super expensive. Anyway, no reports of adverse effects all these years. Obviously it's not a whole bottle of essential oils because of the texture AND you can't get 8oz of essential oils for 9 bucks. Some essential oils cost that much for a 1/2 oz.

So yeah, for all we know it could be mineral oil, jojoba oil, paraffin, whatever. I use it on occasion because it has a soft, dryish oiliness to it (if that makes any sense).

There was a member who reported them to the government recently. I don't know how she made out. What I do know is that there are several products that don't disclose the ingredients. The Vonte line comes to mind. So there must be a way around sharing the ingredients in detail.

I remember thinking Kemi Oyl was high... Until KeraCare, that is!! If this oil doesn't make my face glow, hair stun, and a whole lot more... Well, I'mma be pretty ticked I got hustled out of $16!! The only good news is that after I'm done (and if I like it), I'm headed straight to eBay to mix up my own batch after reading the ingredients on the back!!

Man am i the only one who can't stand the smell of kemi oyl? i bought a sample bottle and i hardly used it. it dind't impress me. maybe i need to revisit it. but i do remember someone on this board emailed the company about why they have secret ingredients and they said that because their ingredients are proprietary and if they list them it would be easy for someone to copy their formula. so it looks like yall will be left iin the dark for a loooong time...:ohwell:

Nope.I hated the smell too. :barf: Back in college all my DC peoples with long hair lived for that oil. Hated it but it made my hair grow  If I can use MTG then I can revisit Kemi Oyl.

My hair loves this oil. And I love the smell. Just started using it so I'm gonna see what happens with my hair.:)

The website says it contains special ingredients which include 18
elements found in the human body. Hmmmm

I used to hate the smell, but I notice that I don't smell it after a while. I am not sure I could deal with it in a shampoo or conditioner with the same smell.

There was a salon here in Columbia that was using their products DEEP. They specialized in Natural hair mostly. I always wondered if they were affiliated with Kemi Labs. Anyway, the entire salon smelled like Kemi oyl and it was a bit much like that.

Is that why it disappeared? I live in Staten Island so it's hard enough to find "ethnic" products, but it was pretty popular back in the day. I cant find it on a single shelf here!
