This is the Jilbere Root Iron, which apparently straightens the roots only based on a couple of reviews I read at the Sally's website. I'm about 10 weeks post and could use a little extra help. Anyone use this? Like it? Worth it? Just wonderin'...

Interesting but wouldn't a flat iron do the same thing? I'm 21 weeks post and I could definitely use a little help, but I'm just too lazy to pull out a heated tool.

Curious to know what the LHCF ladies think...

Ummm, 21 weeks post??? Yall would read about me on the news, for real. "Black woman goes off on co-workers due to pressure and frustration when attempting to comb her hair." :brucelee:
I guess the supposed advantage it boasts over your regular flat iron is that it can get to the roots of the hair without you burning your scalp, which would be great not just for me but for my girls. Not sure it's worth it, though, unless someone comes out and says it's just PHENOMENAL. Or at least really good.:look:

 @ the bolded! It's been...err...different, but I'm hanging in there (not relaxing until the end of next month). I protective style in buns 24/7 now so I don't actually "comb" my hair. Fingers only. I haven't used heat since last Dec but I was intrigued by this little "roots-only" tool. Surely someone around here can tell us something :look: :ohwell:

This was the very first review at MakeupAlley

This iron is at sally beauty. It is made for getting your roots so when you flat iron your hair your roots are not poofy. I have natural african american hair, it this thing gets so close to your scalp it is crazy. Because the ceramic heating iron is enclosed in two combs you do not burn you head. I love it. It makes my hair look like I came form the salon, or like I have a relaxer. If you are looking for something that makes your hair look great then this is it. It works, and it is the cheapest of all the root irons that I have seen. It only does the roots, not the whole head.
It gets closer then a flat iron does

When I worked at Sallys, this is the one item that was returned regularly. Apparently you need to do umpteen billion passes just to get it as straight as a flat iron or a pressing comb. I questioned regular folks like us and professionals why they returned it becuase I was intriugued myself, but they all said the same thing.

Hmmmm....well, as a former Sally employee, you do have the "in" on the information. Looks like I may need to hold on to my money a lil longer.

Will definitely check this out. Of course I'm at work now , so youtube is blocked for the moment (but LHCF ain't! Teehee!). My thing is, not only do I want it for the "girl, are you transitioning?" days, but if I can use it on the girls and get them over that hunched shoulder thing everytime heat comes near their head, then it would be worth it. But I'm trying to lessen my time, not double it---umpteen passes will not be a positive factor! I'll look at the vid review soon as I get off the clock for da man.

I may be wrong, but I wanna say brittanynic16 uses it...Or something similar...Maybe she can chime in...

Thanks for the mention

I don't use that iron but I have one similar by R sessions. It is awesome for the edges. It also works nicely on the roots but my 4/10 FHI works better. I mainly use it for the edges and the nape.
