What type of towel do you use to dry your hair?

Just wondering . . . I use a regular bath towel . . . I make sure to be gentle with it. But I know they sell these special microfiber towels just for the hair . . . I don't feel like spending the money . . . and I know that some people here just use t-shirts to dry their hair . . . I only have a few t-shirts and I don't want to use them for that.

What do you all do?

I mostly use a paper towel. I squeeze the excess water out of my hair and then smooth the length of my hair with the paper towel.

I do use regular towels sometime, but I never rub my hair with anything to dry it. I let the towel absorb the excess water and then air or blow dry.

I usually use a regular cotton towel. I have a turbie towel, those microfiber ones, but it doesn't absorb the water from my hair like a regular towel.

I voted "regular bath towel," which I do use sometimes to blot my hair. But mostly, I just get out of the shower, with my hair soaking wet and hanging on my back, and then put on my 100% cotton terry bath robe for a few minutes. It's great for absorbing excess water from my hair.

I use an Aquia microfiber towel. I still don't "rub" my hair, but I really just use the towel to make a bun wrap around my hair to dry it. Often, I can just unwrap the towel and have a relatively great hair day without product.

For those of you who use a special hair towel, do you notice any difference than using a regular towel, like less breakage, easier time detangling, etc?

I would like to get one, but not if it's not going to make a difference in my hair.

I don't use a towel if I set my hair on rollers or rods. My hair needs to be completely soaking wet for me to do this.

Now if I am wearing a ponytail, I use a regular ol towel

I use an Aquis towel just to pat away the drippies if my conditioner needs to be put on towel dreied hair. I also have an Aquis towel to dry off my dog when she gets bathed

ETA: I don't rub my hair with any type of towel... eek!
I just wrap my hair in the towel for a while to absorb excess liquid.

I don't dry my hair too often with a towel but when I do I try to use a microfiber one. I find that they don't "rough up" my hair too much and it dries smoother.

I haver several microfiber towels, but I stopped using them because they were getting my hair TOO dry too soon. I like some of the water in there because I take a long time to apply my leave-ins. The microfiber ones were making my hair airdry too soon before I was done applying everything.

Most of the time, I haven't been using a towel. I do use paper towels sometimes to squeeze the excess water out. I have a couple of those turban twist towels, but my hair is too long for them now, which is too bad because they are convenient. I'm thinking of getting an Aquis towel, but I haven't decided yet.

I use T-shirts. When my hubby or sons find a hole in their shirt. That's a new towel for me. They aborsb really well and doesnt snag my hair. Some I cut at the seams and remove the arm piece and make 2 (I call those my towelettes) others I remove just the sleeves. I use the thicker ones when I have my hair in braids because the braids holds more water than my twist for which I use the one layer shirt, my towelette.

I don't use a towel. I just squeeze out excess water, put into a pony, and tie with a satin scarf. I have noticed major improvement in my hair since I haven't been rubbing my hair with towels.

I voted for bath towel, although if we want to be technical, I actually use a hand towel (same fabric as a bath towel). I don't pat or rub my hair with the towel though-I just bend my head forward 'til all of my hair is hanging and then put the two pointy ends of the towel together and secure them with an ouchless band. So basically my hair "drip dries" without dripping on my clothes

Good thing you made this thread OP, because I have never heard of drying by anything BUT a bath towel. These responses have me learning all kinds of new stuff. Paper towels? I thought you weren't supposed to use these on skin because they are ultimately too scratchy (i.e. the reason they are not fit to clean sunglasses). Using them on hair...? erplexed

Well I just detangle wet hair, braid it, and wrap a regular old bath towel around it until it's damp. Then I unbraid it, spray it, wrap it, and sleep on it. Once my sleep scarf is on I don't worry about it until the next day.

But paper towels...?

I gently wring the water out of my hair while I'm still in the shower. I don't use a towel to dry my hair.

I don't use a towel. I squeeze out some of the water with my hands and then twist up my hair after washing because I wash it in sections...this pretty much gets rid of most of the dripping water. Then I style my hair on wet hair and let it air dry.

I gently squeeze it (once or twice) with a regular bath towel or aquis in the winter. In the summer I just squeeze as much water out as possible and wear a towel over my shoulders until it dries.
