I have heard people say they use many different tools. I want to know which one easier for when I attempt to do my own relaxer.

I used my hands w/gloves most of the time but I use a tint brush when I can remember.

A tint brush! Is that like a relaxer brush, but without the bristles. I was trying to add an answer choice like that, but I didn't know what to call it. I was going to name it "something similar to a relaxer brush, but doesn't have bristles" answer choice.

Well...I guess what I use is a relaxer brush. (I didn't know there was a difference.:look:)

Someone here mentioned a pastry bag. I was eyeing one today at the supermarket. I think that would help with preventing overlapping.

I use gloved hands to apply the relaxer and then I use the spatula that comes with the kit to smooth my hair down after application

I don't own any relaxer brushes so I use my gloved ahnds to apply my relaxers. I get it done really well this way and faster too.

hands with gloves on and relaxer brush

*COUGH COUGH* :ohwell:. Em, actually I used to use my bare hands and smoothen with a fine tooth comb :wallbash: most of the time. I've also tried the glove thing and an applicator brush, but didn't like those methods.
I also used the spatula from the kit to smoothen often.
I'm transitioning now so my bad habits are a thing of the past anywayz.

I have never applied my own relaxer, but my stylist uses a fine-toothed comb...

I use a tint brush (with bristles) I didn't know they come without so I'll be looking for that one in my next trip to the beauty supply, thanks!

My stylist uses a relaxer brush to apply my relaxer. When I self-relaxed I used my hands.

I use a rat tail comb. The tail for parting and the teeth for applying and later smoothing. Because I have CTS it's easier for me to hold onto. I've tried the applicator brushes and they were too messy and contributed to overlapping for me.

I actually use my hands (I know, I know) because it's really hard for me to get to the roots properly and actually feel like I'm applying it on the NG-ruins my nails too.
