What product/technique did you sleep on......

tiffers

Whisper "bleep boop" to yourself when you're sad.
That you wish you'd tried sooner? For me, it's been...

Pre pooing-- I used to try pre pooing with conditioner and didn't get good results so I stopped pre pooing for a long time. Then I tried pre pooing with oil, the results weren't that great, so I stopped again. I was just about to give up on it when I discovered Jehan prepoo oil (from shescentit) and it's so fantastic! I love it, it smells great and I'm so glad I discovered it. I sure do wish I woulda tried it sooner!

Only shampooing the scalp-- Even though I kept reading about how shampoo's only meant to clean the scalp, and lathering all of your hair like the commercials is a no-no, I still kept doing it up until about two months ago-and I haven't looked back. I love washing this way, because my hair doesn't tangle, my hair doesn't dry out and my ends still feel nice and moisturized. I don't know why on earth I didn't do it sooner!

Less is more-- Ever since washing Macherie's video and getting advice from Sweet Cashew, I've been using a LOOOOT less product. I still get the same results as I did when I was using half a bottle of conditioner for each co wash  Using less is saving lots of money :yep:

So what did you sleep on that you wish you would've tried sooner?

Products

Kenra MC- Tried it way back when and hated it, retried and :yay:

Techniques

Tiffers, I will agree with you on changing the way you wash your hair, that has helped me start to heal my scalp

  • Night before wash day, pre-pooing with Ayurvedic oils. Namely Shikakai and/or Brahmi Amla Oil.
  • Moisturing hair and ends every night and sealing ends with Vatika or Almond Oil.
  • Baggying and wearing a satin bonnet every night.

Condtioner washing. I've been doing it for over a year and I love it but if I had started when I first heard about it FIVE years ago, who knows where I would be now.

Products
Coconut oil...I'm falling in love
Ojon products - I didn't like them at first but I love them now

Techniques
Sealing the hair
Moisuturizing
DCing...I should know better.

Baggying....I just didn't have the products right. Tried it a year later with the right products and Booyahkah...baggy nirvana!

Co-washing. I dont know if my hair was in bad shape or what, but it comes out much softer and airdrys much smoother.

Low-mani. For the most part. I used to comb/brush like 5 times a day. Now I do it like, 2-3 times a weekly when detangling. Not even hard.

The technique I slept on was not overdosing my hair with styling product and weighing it down. Now I use dime-sized, and sometimes pea-sized amounts, of product. As a result, my styles turn out so much better, and last longer, with lots of body and movement.

Going to the salon for touch-ups- I wish I would have done this at the beginning of my journey instead of walking around with extremely underprocessed hair.

Rollersetting- rollersets have made a huge impact on my hairs health. Airdrying was sucking the life out of my hair.

Baking Soda- Clarifying my hair with baking soda always leaves my hair so smooth and clean.

techniques:
sections while washing(my hair is long enough for the clips now lol)
finger combing
crown and glory
detangling before getting in the shower

products:french perm stabilizer plus:love2:(nothing gives me as much slip as this i can detangle easily with my fingers!)
vo5 conditioners: the only ones that actually dont coat my hair(all the other ones ive tried kinda just sit except tresemme)
wet line Xtreme gel: better than fantasia ic imo:yep:
