What Product(s)/Techniques Provide Hold for Curls?

I used a hot curling iron to curl my hair the other day. I loved the look. But after a couple hours the curled dropped; and it was only curled underneath.

What products/techniques could I use to give me a hold all day when using heat? I use Jane Carter's Holding Spray for flexi-rod dry rollersetting only. I need something to use for heat applications.

What do you use to hold your curls?
