What is your most difficult problem and how are you going to fix it?

I saw this question asked in 03, thought I bring it back. Lets post our problems, action plans, and leave comments if we see any problem we can help with. Lets get it all out so we can all be armed with better regimes and methods for the new year.:D

My problems- life up to 5 weeks post relaxer is okay but after that its a disaster. Managing breakage and dryness with lots of newgrowth is my problem. I could also get better with placing my rollers with my rollersets. I still can't imitate the salon placing which gets me my best curl.

Action plan- go get sets in a salon every other weeks or so, so I can really pay attention to placement and eventually duplicate it at home. For my new growth problem, I am going to try to do more curly sets and find some conditioners with major slip.

My ultimate problem is my hairline and temples. They are entirely too thin. I just got some Jamaican Black Castor oil and I have a sulfur mix that I have been using. Hopefully that works. IF it doesn't I might look into something medically to get my temples back, if there is such a thing.

MY NAPE!! its short and breaks as fast as it grows. I'm not really sure what to do about it as its been this way for about 8 years. I'm going to stop relaxing the nape altogether. I'm also surging and conditioning at night and sleeping with a showercap. That prevents it from being dry and brittle, but I'm still not seeing much length.

My hair is thin and so are my temples. I've been surging and applying mtg weekly. I ordered black castor oil last week and will be adding that to my regimen. I've seen a lil improvement but not enough. I still can't master rollersetting either. I don't do it enough though so whatever.:ohwell:

This is a GREAT thread.

As far as hair problems I am fixing them. But I have "plan problems" that needs help.

The last stretch I did I had massive tangles/knots/matting. I want to successfully stretch again but I am afraid of going through that again. I lost a LOOOOOT of hair while relaxing. My plan is to cowash (which free 40% of the tangles) regularly, and use detangling stuff, and buying porosity control-IF ANYONE HAS ANY PRODUCT ADVICE YOU CAN LEFT ME KNOW.

My second problem is I burned REALLY bad during my last relaxer. But I loved the results but I got a lot of perm sores which made some spots of my hair stick to my scalp. My plan is to base my scalp like it's 1999, and apply aloe vera to my scalp before I set-Any other suggestions would be nice.

I have a patch of hair at the top of my head that is very breakage prone. It also hates relaxers so....I'm gonna try not to manipulate it,moisturize it, and when I relax I will be xtra carefull to only put it onthe new growth and for 5 min. at the most.

Try using a good cheap moisturizing condition on your burn spots. I like to rub some on to soften up the sores before I shampoo. After you wash and condition, they will be alot softer and heal faster.

my problem is gaining length and reducing split ends (they go hand and hand)

also, I have to remember to take my vitamin daily and spend more time on the right side of my head (its shorter than the left)

the right side is longer than the left, so i stopped wrapping my hair at night and bought satin pillowcases instead.

slow growth. i'm taking vitamins and exercising to help with that

My problem is thin/fine hair as well, but more so all over. I use MTG and Miconozale Nitrate..... I also put Jamaican Black Castor oil in my conditioner....... and I recently started taking Biotin. And of course i deep condition weekly, moisture and do protein treatments, protect the ends, comb only once weekly, and blah blah blah! :lachen:

Thru this regimen, I have seen a definite increase in thickness since doing all this, but i still want MORE, MORE, MORE thickness!!!

You can also, coat it with a light protein conditioner and/or oil before you relax.

My problem is retaining length :(. I have been battling with this since I started this hair care journey! I know that my hair is growing...I have new growth when it is time to get a perm, but my length still has not changed!
If anyone has any advice....send it my way!!!
I am trying to baggie every night, and I just started my vitamin regimen yesterday. I know consistency is the key!

Baggying is the key for me. And also staying away from heat and no combing. girl check out the Grow hair like Weed challenge.

and find some conditioners with major slip.

I'm looking for this too. There used to be a product back in the day called Aussie Slip, that used to be the truth! I wonder if they still make it.

1) thinness- not sure how to fix, but will be looking into alter ego to curb shedding. already taking vitamins.

2) nape- using MN and MTG to thicken up. either avoiding relaxer altogether or touching it up for 5 minutes if that.

3) 3 textures THIS SHOULD REALLY BE #1- not sure what to do with that - that is my biggest dilemma right now. Contemplating a corrective

Oh yeah, i forgot about stretching relaxers. That has helped big time as well!

My problem is retaining length also. I will combat it by keeping my ends moist and baggying. I also want to keep newgrowth moisturized with ORS Olive Oil to prevent breakage.

Do you protect your ends daily? My hair STAYS in a bun, w/those ends tucked in neatly and securly. :) I comb only once per week before i wash. So essentially i am retaining everything that grows.....

Problem #1: Serious unevenness
Solution: A major cut scheduled next month.

Problem #2: A short patch in the back
Solution: Protective styles and topical growth treatment to that area only.

My major problem: My hair in the back middle is uneven and shorter than all the rest.

Fix it: I'm going to fix it by getting layers cut into my hair. The shortest being 4" and the longest being however long my hair is. I hope this helps.

A line from my left temble to the the left center of my head is THIN-breakage prone.... and overall Fussy!!!! I can hide it easily but none-the-less I know it needs attention. If I could get my left side to be as think and nice as the right side I would be happy.

I've been using:
peppermint oil with EVOO

My crown area. It's the driest, frizziest and coarsest area of my head.

Solution: Blocking off this area when conditioning and combing it gently, applying more water and oils to it, and dusting it monthly.

My hair grows in an upside down V, so when straightened, the center looks broken off and damaged. I don't know what to do about it.

I have 2 major problems...Hair breakage and Right temple area is thin. Its starting to cover up cause i see little hair where it wasent before. As for the breakage, I will have to do under protein treatments for the next 4 to 6 weeks.

I going to check walgreens tonight. I GOTTA find something with some crazy slip to help with stretching. I am going to try some new supplements to see if it improves the texture of the growth. I know I am also going to have to keep my hands and combs out of my hair when it gets really bad. I was thinking about something like a flexi-rod set but how do I protect styles like that at night?

I have a patch in my nape area (about 1 inch square) that is very dry and breaks easily. I keep it very moisturized and try to leave it alone as much as possible, and it is finally filling in nicely. Well wouldn't you know that just as soon as it's doing fine I get another spot on the left side of my head, just above my ear (about and inch past the hairline) and I feel like it's all my fault. It's like all of my stress went to that spot and I kept picking and pulling at it, it had started growing in more dry and it was more tightly curled than the rest of my hair, it's like that spot just changed overnight. Anyway, last week I examined that spot and it's like about a quarter-sized and almost completely bald.

My plan is to massage the spot with oils on the regular, thinking about getting some rosemary oil, and to get more rest and focus on reducing my stress. I'm a SAHM and it's like because I have more freedom I pack in way too much into each and every day and don't allow myself enough time to recuperate. I almost cried when I saw the spot but I feel better now. Fortunately my thick natural hair clings together and completely covers/camaflauges(sp?) that area. Just waiting for the day that my hair is long, healthy and problem free...sigh...one day...

I am starting to see a problem with my edges and nape area! Much thinner and my hair is NOT thin.... I bun daily with a satin scrunchie. Thinking maybe I will have to give up the brush:mad: and start doing the "raking" thing with the comb. I will also have to try a new protective style just in case my bunning is part of the problem too:confused: .

I checked the website and its not there. I did see however, a detangling conditioner called Knot Forgotten detangling conditioner. This sounds promising. Maybe I will have to be the guinea pig.

My major problems have to do with thinning at the nape and all around dryness from a fiasco with some hydrogen peroxide. I plan on deep conditioning with heat and moisturizing like crazy.
