What is the longest you have managed to not go to a salon?

I haven't been in 6 months and I am debating whether or not I should go in for a deep condition and a trim. Also, I haven't had my hair straightened in 6 months. I am just wondering what do other people do.

About a year and half but it wasn't premeditated. I just stopped relaxing my hair (didn't know about transitioning at the time and had no intention to). I did get my hair braided during that time, does that count? I think of salon as being relaxers, trims, presses, etc. and braiding as "the braid shop."

I've been to the salon twice this year, though.

About a year and half.

PLEASE take all necessary precautions with regards to getting your hair trimmed. You don't want to start one of those "SHS" Stylist threads. Take a mirror or a trusted friend with you. Take before and after pics. Don't let the stylist do that rubbish where they cut a small amount and show you BUT continue to cut that small amount in the same sections over and over again.

Right after you say "hi" give the stylist the warning of her life letting her know you will not be very nice if she cuts more than you want. I did this once. I said with a stern look, "Hi I need a trim, and I will go bat %^&$ crazy on you if you cut more than the amount I show you." We had zero problems.

Currently at a 1.5 years. That's mostly due to my stylist living far away. I plan on getting a professional trim to even up my layers next year.

Ladies who haven' t been in years...how do you feel about special occassions? Such as weddings? I basically go every 3 months..which is a far leap from.my relaxed days going every week! But I go for trims, weave, or when i want a banging press with that swang I can' t acheive at home. Are you ladies getting that salon finish on special occassions?

Last time I went to a salon was December 2008. It's been almost 3 years. I was thinking of going to get it flat ironed but now that I am natural I don't trust just anybody in my head. A lot of stylist don't want to work on natural hair.

IDK what my longest time frame in between salon visits is, but it has been 2 1/2 years since I've last been to the salon. But I do plan on finding a good stylist between now and December because I do to go to a shop for my end of year flat iron and style.
