i have been natural for 4 months come august 2nd and i love the fact that i am taking care of MY natural texture when there are plenty of people who think its not possible unless you have locks. i like feeling free. and i love watching my hair grow and become so big and lush.

I've been natural since January. I love being natural because I don't have to worry about being caught in the rain! It's also fun to play with my hair, try new things, and learn new things about it everyday! :)

and how long have you been natural?

There are so many things I love about having natural hair, the following are just a few things:

1. No fear of rain/sweat/steam
2. I feel free!
3. I don't have so much money - when I had a relaxer, I used to go to the salon every two weeks!
4. My hair is very versatile

My last relaxer was in 1997, transitioned until March 1998, so I've been 11 years natural :)

Reading through this thread reminds me of the moment I decided to NEVER relax my hair again (pre-LHCF, though)

I love not being at the mercy of a stylist
I love that there will be no more chemical burns
I love that my natural hair reminds me that it will grow strong and healthy as I take care of it and my body
I love how my natural hair feels in my hands
I love being able to run my fingers through my hair without strands breaking
I love that the thickness has returned
I love that I get to keep my $$$ in my pocket
I love knowing that my hair growing to my length of choice does not depend on the "special touch" of a particular stylist but it depends on ME!

the texture. The fact that it's versatile. I feel liberated. And I love feeling it, and thinking about how much growth I have but it's a mystery to others because of shrinkage. I also love the new challenge of getting to know my natural hair, there is a thrill there. Been Natural since May 13, 2009. prior to that transitioned for since June.

I love my hair in it's natural state. Its apart of who I am. It makes me feel free and define who I am as an individual. I love the different styles I can wear and even the comments from others.

I've been natural for 4 years. I have many reasons why I love being natural.

1. I love how my hair feels. My hair gives cotton a run for it's money in the softness department. :)

2. I love being able to wash my hair whenever I want and not being concerned about "stripping" it. And for that matter, with whatever I want. If I use a product that makes my hair hard, I simply use a trusted conditioner and start over, unlike when I used to fear wasting my $35.00 re-touch money by trying a new product that sends me looking for ways to strectch for the next four months.

3. I love not having to plan my life around weather (when it's humid: braid or twist, when it rains - so what!)

4. I love being able to ride in the car with the windows down and the wind blowing through my hair hair - especially in twists - without fear of my new doo getting messed up.

5. I also love smelling my hair. I don't know if anyone else experiences this, or even if I should be sharing this with others - but I love how my clean, freshly conditioned hair smells. I can finally use strawberry conditioner, and my hair smells like strawberries.
