This morning I had a very skilled friend relax my hair....and this was before I got around to reading all the posts in response to the one I did about the Rev. Real. Reg. OMG. I had based with vaseline and castor oiland it burned the S#!T outta me within 12 minutes or so...well it was actually just tingling then...she was only halfway through my head do to coarsenes and density...so she sprayed me with oil sheen to try to stop the burning, it helped for about 2 minutes then it got worse...she by this time is almost done with the front and I am close to tears because my whole head has started burning! she finished and was about to try to smooth it through..I jumped up so fast I probably almost knocked her down! She said I gotta smooth it, I said no, I dont care about this being straight right now just please rinse this out....so we proceed to rinse it out and wash and I remembered just how strong it was so I put some motions silk protein conditioner in, followed by about 30 minutes with lekair. In the end, my scalp is burned, I just found my Vit. E capsules and am about to go through my scalp with it and go buy some neosporin...and my hair isnt straight...the curl is dramatically loosened though, I'm not too upset with this though because since it's lye, later much much much later I'll go have it professionally corrected and at least my hair retained some elasticity. I am done forever with non stylist done relaxers...I know it wasn't my friend's fault but still...and this has reaffirmed my desire to cut my hair..I'm going to try to nurse my scalp back to health and afterwards get my hair braided and leave it alone for the next couple months...geez..I'm sorry ladies..I know I always have so much hair drama...I'm getting it together though..I promise

Wow thats scary!! It brings me back to my old relaxer days. Yeah you probably better leave it to professionals or yourself. You dont want to lose friends behind hair. Im sorry you went through that. A burn is a burn and I know that stuff hurts. Youll get a good routine together.

Ouchie! Well at least you didn't pay to get burned like I did last month by a so called "professional". I've decided to take matters into my own hands and stretch out my next relaxer until mid July. Nurse the scalp and be gentle with your hair. Aloe Vera gel, neosporin and ORS temple feterlizer helped me out a bunch. Now I have dandruff though.

Here's a tissue...you'll be fine as long as you get your act together. However, you might want to start NOW! I hope you feel better. You may want to try some aloe vera gel for your scalp...the Lily of the Valley brand.

I'm so sorry to hear this Cheebear

i'm glad that you were able to get it rinsed out quickly and had enough bearings to remember to use the protein conditioner. I hope you feel better soon

Thanks everyone...I put some vit e and alor vera gel on my scalp, it feels much better...only problem now is some of the hair that was relaxed is very rough feeling...I'm trying my best to hold on and not wet it or anything yet..how long would you all wait to do a CO wash or at least a rinsing???

i wouldnt do anything to it tomorrow, so that it can rest. But i would definitely rinse and do a CO Saturday morning. I think it needs a mini break.

Patience and Jerseydyme...the thing is...I do all really great things to my hair and under normal circumstances my hair is happy...I take lots of time out to make love to my hair and keep it healthy...but when I become a victim of circumstance, like having to take a stupid swimming class, or getting very stressed and sick right around the same time causing my hair to start acting weird, all the work I do is lost and nothing matters anymore

DO NOT say that Cheerbear. Everything you've done has helped your hair. I feel discourged when something bad happens to my hair, but ya know what...I'm an inch from bra strap and my hair is fine. I know your at wits end because it seems like theres always something that goes wrong when everything appears fine. I hope you feel better, and remember, anything worth having is worth fighting for!

P.S- Be careful, hopefully you won't get scalp pus that makes your hair stick to your scalp. Start treating those burns now.

I'm sure you will recover in no time. I'm sure you'll get relaxing down pat in no time (no matter if you are gong to a stylist or doing it yourself)
