Hey Lebiya, that wasn't and hasn't been my experience. I've had a really bad setback where I ended up cutting a lot (~10 inches) of my hair off but my hair growth is constant, about 1/2 inch per month. What does change, that can affect perception of growth, is the distance between markers. For shorter hair, there are a ton of markers within inches of each other EL to CL to NL to SL. They are all within an 1.5 - 2 inches from each other, so every few months you get confirmation of your hair growth. Check, check, check, Ya it's growing!! But from SL to APL is closer to 4 inches (this varies per body shape). On me (and I'm 5' 1") WL - HL and HL to TBL are each 4 inches apart. For me, assuming I don't have to trim, that would be 3/4 of a year, and more realistically a year to see progress. And because your hair is literally behind you all the time because your hair falls behind your shoulders is doesn't seem like it's growing.
I've been feeling stalled recently with my hair and that is why I'm going back to literally measuring my hair monthly and being more meticulous with my photo documenting because the longer the hair gets the less it looks like it is growing.
The longest my hair was before LHCF was BSL, though usually it was between SL and APL.
