VENT:BAD REVIEW BOUT LHCF @ AMAZON.COM?!

This is what I posted on Amazon:

I just wanted to comment on the review that VERONICA BEAVERHOUSEN posted in this review on April 26, 2007, in regards to longhaircareforum.com. She said “Please by all means DO NOT go on longhaircareforum.com it was a joke and a waste of time. Some if not most people on their are wearing weaves and lace front wigs, lying about how their hair grew so long in a matter of weeks, and how their hair will be growing down to their ankles by year's end, and fussing who said what about the Bible, pure craziness”. I wanted to say that I have proudly been a member of Long Hair Care Forum since December 2005. Since joining this site my hair HAVE gone from above shoulder length to now 2 inches above my brastrap. My hair will soon reach my brastrap at my next touch up. I owe all my hair growth success to LONG HAIR CARE FORUM, Cathy Howse book, Nicole Smith book, taking hair vitamins, keeping my ends hidden by wearing my hair up, keeping my hair/ends moisturized, washing and deep conditioning my hair ATLEAST once a week, doing protein treatments weekly (to keep my hair strong, so it will not break off), and did I mention by getting good hair growing tips from LHCF. Yes some women on LHCF wear wigs and lacefronts but they wear them to protect their ends while growing their hair and many of them ACTUALLY have long hair underneath those weaves and lacefronts. You may ask how do I know this and the reason why I know is because we have meetings in different states where we meet with other ladies and talk about our hair goals, swap hair products, and of course touch the beautiful locks of the ladies. Long Hair Care Forum have policies on the way a member is to conduct themselves on the board and those who DO NOT follow those policies can and do get banned from LHCF. We at LHCF have pictures to validate our hair is actually the length we say it is. We actually have BEFORE and AFTER pictures. Hair grows 6 inches a year and if you protect your ends, you will keep those 6 inches, unless you like trimming ALOT then of course you will not keep the 6 inches. A lot of us on LHCF do our own hair, from perming, trimming, styling/roller sets. If we didn’t know how to do it before joining LHCF we know how to do it now. We at LHCF are an internet family oriented environment. If any of us have any issues in our lives, all we have to do is type it in, WHATEVER it may be and someone will respond within minutes. We don’t curse, degrade each other. Our goal is to help each other reach our hair’s potential and it doesn’t matter what type of hair you have, coarse, kinky, fine, curly, etc. Your hair can reach its potential. We are proof of that. Visit us sometime and see yourself.

ETA: I behaved myself because I didn't want anyone to think LHCF was crazy:lachen:
BUT I posted on Amazon.com a while back because ppl was ticking me off about Carolyn Gray's book and encouraging ppl not to buy her book and I was pissed because Carolyn's book is very helpful for someone who don't have a clue in hayl on where to start and yah she copied and pasted the week by week steps but I myself needed that book to be laid out like that..anyway this is what I posted in regards to Carolyn Gray's book:

THIS BOOK IS VERY INFORMATIVE AND SINCE I PURCHASED THIS BOOK MY HAIR IS HEALTHIER AND LONGER...YES THIS BOOK IS FOR RELAXED HAIR BUT IT IS ALSO FOR NATURAL HAIR TOO AND THE WEEK TO WEEK REGIMEN STEPS WAS THE REASON WHY I PURCHASED THIS BOOK BECAUSE WHEN I STARTED TAKING CARE OF MY HAIR...I DID NOT KNOW WHERE TO START BUT IN THE BOOK SHE GAVE WEEK BY WEEK STEPS AND I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS REGIMEN SINCE DECEMBER 2005 AND MY HAIR HAS GROWN AND IS VERY HEALTHY AS I STATED EARLIER...FIRST I HAD TO GET MY HAIR BACK HEALTHY AND ONCE I ACCOMPLISHED THAT THE LENGTH CAME. AS FAR AS CAROLYN GRAY NOT USING APHOGEE PROTEIN TREATMENTS (SOMEONE MENTIONED) ALTHOUGH SHE DOES NOT USE IT HERSELF...SHE DOES MENTION APHOGEE PROTEIN PRODUCTS IN THE BOOK AND BEING THAT SHE USES SOME FORM OF PROTEIN TREATMENT WEEKLY MAYBE SHE DOES NOT NEED TO USE A STRONG PROTEIN TREATMENT SUCH AS APHOGEE (SOME PEOPLE HAIR CAN NOT TAKE A STRONG PROTEIN TREATMENT OR SOME PEOPLE HAIR IS NOT THAT SEVERELY DAMAGED SO THEY WOULD NOT NEED APHOGEE PROTEIN TREATMENT). I DO NOT USE A STRONG PROTEIN TREATMENT AND MY HAIR IS NOT BREAKING OFF..IT'S GROWING ACTUALLY...THE BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU ARE JUST STARTING TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR AND DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO START OR YOU JUST DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO START...THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU....SHE TELLS YOU WHAT PRODUCTS TO USE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS...YES SHE MENTIONS HER PRODUCTS BUT SHE ALSO MENTIONS SEVERAL OTHER PRODUCTS TO USE. SHE IS GIVING YOU THE FOUNDATION TO BUILD YOUR HAIR REGIMEN TO NOT ONLY GROW YOUR HAIR BUT TO ALSO KEEP THE HAIR...THIS WOMAN TOOK THE TIME TO WRITE A BOOK TO HELP AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN GROW THEIR HAIR AND WHAT THANKS DOES SHE GET BUT UNNESSARY AND LOW BLOWS NEGATIVE REMARKS...YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS...EITHER BUY THE BOOK AND WATCH YOUR HAIR GROW OR STFU AND KEEP THE SHORT DAMAGED HAIR YOU GOT...I PICKED MY OPTION AND MY HAIR IS GROWING....ADVICE TO MALICIOUS NEGATIVE REMARKS ABOUT THIS BOOK...KEEP IT MOVING....IT'S OK TO POST NEGATIVE REMARKS ABOUT THIS BOOK IN GOOD SPIRIT BUT SOME ARE DOWN RIGHT MALICIOUS AND IS NOT NECESSARY...THIS REVIEW MIGHT NOT GET POSTED BUT I HAD TO SAY THIS..BECAUSE SOME WOMEN WILL MISS OUT ON SOMETHING GOOD...BECAUSE OF THE IGNORANCE OF OTHERS.

tsmith, that was a great rebuttal you wrote. Thanks for sticking up on the behalf of LHCF.

WELL PUT TOO! ;)

Well, that seemed like the wrong place to get her issues with the forum off her chest. But please, this place is not for everybody. If you can't put certain types of post on your mental "ignore" and know that there are trolls here just like any messageboard then lhcf is not for you. Also, a lot of ladies here DO WEAR WEAVES:lol:   . There are all kinds of weave challenges going on, so someone who casually comes onto this forum and sees weaves, wigs, and falls in a lot of folks siggy pics or avatars can easily get the wrong impression. If you don't want to take the time to find out what the deal is, it's your loss!

I didn't read all the posts here, but to me it seems like a compliment in a very weird sort of way. When people come and see the forum, they'll see all the great advice, tips and suggestions on growing healthy, long hair. :D

I just want to thank all of ya'll for posting and reasuring our newbies that we are not fake. WHICH, by the way, was the purpose of me exposing Miss. Beaverhousen hater whatever...lol Like some of ya'll said, those of us who DO wear lace fronts and wigs, weaves etc...WE ARE A FAMILY AND THEREFOR WE ADMIT TO IT. ITS CALLED A PROTECTIVE STYLE!!! lol Am I right ladies??? We LHCF'ers don't have a reason to hide...
If it helps MS. Beaverhousen...the pic in my siggy is my newest protective style when I'm not in braids. Its a WIG....LOL IS THAT BETTER??
I mean, only someone ignorant would rant like that about something they don't fully understand. I love LHCF and for the first time in almost 15 years I will have my BABYGIRL LENGTH HAIR!!! (ie.. the WL hair I had when I was 10 years old, remember dat!) I give mad props and big hugs to all my sistas who have grown to extreme lengths on this forum. I love ya'll!

PS

YALL GOT ME DYIN OVA HERE READIN' SOME OF THESE POSTS!!

I think she did too.

I dunno. I really want to give her more credit than that. She can be kinda cold and harsh in her writings, but as a mom and business woman, I would hope that this sista just would not go there for her own "benefit". She did bash a few other writers in her book - okay maybe not bash, but she put them out there. But, even then she was not disrespectful, I don't think.

I agree but she seems a little confrontational for me, like the way she sounds sometimes, you would think that she invented the idea of deep conditioning.

I don't know, HoneyDew. It does seem a bit odd that someone would be reviewing her book and giving her praise and then decide to throw LHCF in as a side note. I hope it wasn't her either but then again, I really don't care who it is. I'm just glad I found ya'll and ironically enough it was because of a comment I was reading on her website where LHCF was mentioned. hehehehe THANKS CATHY!!!

Check out her website.

I love LHCF!!!! The information has allowed me to grow my SLH to APL on its way to BSL.

Whatever she used to row her hair more power to her. This right here has been the best.:)

And the information is far more versatile on this site. Her book, although there is good info, seems one-tracked.

Here we can find ALL kinds of info for ALL kinds of issues, products, ideas, etc. Plus I just love the support we give each other. It's surprising that someone would even compare the two.

You know, we did give some criticism to her "heat 2 times a week" routine :scratchch Maybe she was pissed about that :fishslap:

Still, I really can't believe that she would do something so silly. I hope it was not her.

Good way to describe her. That's why I prefer Carolyn Gray's book. She seems more like a good friend and someone that would be an LHCF member - open, friendly, willing to learn from others, etc.

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: Carolyn Gray does seem more "open". I haven't read her book but I did check out her site before

If she did write that review, it's only to try to boost her own book sales. I found the advice here to be sound and it does work! Don't let it scare ya away, newbies!

^^ I highly doubt it was her and trying to pin something like that on her is the same thing like Ms. "Beaverhouse" (or whatever) trying to say that we have no credibility and are all Bible-fighting liars. There's no REAL basis behind it. Like I said before, I think anyone who comes here (newbies) will realize the truth, so sitting around speculating and possibly saying things that are flat-out not true, is not going to make us look any better than the reviewer.

ETA: I don't think it's her trying to 'boost' her book sales b/c then she wouldn't be telling people to go to the library.

good point...

Um...wow...this is sad...and pisses me off.

I *know* that my hair has grown and is much healthier thanks to tips I've seen on this site...and I *KNOW* Boundless Tresses will help me achieve my hair goals within the next two years. And when I talk about the Bible, I'm not fussing, just stating my non-Christian viewpoint on things.

I think we all know what real hair looks like...especially when you watch someone grow it out their scalp for years.

That's bull-ishh.

Probably some bald headed ashy scalped thirsty hair follicle having backsliding chick who is too afraid to show up at her own church cuz she can't find enough crazy glue to glue a hat down to her crazy head.
