Hey everyone,

I know this is so stupid. But has anybody tried to put this on their scalp.I am not going to do this but just asking.

I am transitioning and have some parts of my scalp that don't grow that well. I used Vaseline on those parts after I chopped my hair to a half inch and after a few weeks, the hair started growing in alot better..

I used to b4 i knew it would clog my pores. Castor oil or one of em other fine oils do a much better job.

I only put it on my scalp, when my hair is going to be washed, like the next day, and I need something for my dry scalp the day before. Say if I put my hair in a ponytail, and I parted my hair. I would only put vaseline, in the part, so it could look at least decent for that day.

A friend of mine actually uses baby Vaseline on her hair because she likes the smell. She is convinced that Vaseline is the only thing that keeps her type 3 curls from turning into a giant afro. I tried to turn her on to nc.com, but she isn't into hair. She wouldn't spend more than $2 on a hair product! Her hair looks very nice, but it is far from "touchable"... Her grease stains are a running joke.

A friend of mine swears by it. Her mother used to do her hair w/ it when she was younger, and her hair is near bra-strap now. She uses vaseline for her scalp ONLY, and on her sons scalp. Pics are coming soon of her hair.

My mom used vaseline on me some years ago and maaaaan was my hair unable to hold a curl. GOD i hated it. We ran outta hair grease so she used some vaseline but ooo. Only time i'd think of maybe using that is if i want a flat style but i keep 4gettin to buy my own jar. I may try the vaseline again. Would it be ok w/my cornrows in?

Keke yeah I am asking the same question? Can you use it on cornrows. Cause my hair is you know cornrowed. So I jsut wanted to know. Yeah Organicevolution you are right.

When I used to put petroleum based products on my hair, I would have excessive dandruff. Since I stopped, I have not one flake. I only put this stuff on my scalp the day before my touch up (I never burn because of this).

Oh well, I had vaseline put in my scalp and my hair, and it has benefited, i was able to but two small ponytails, I was so happy, when i was little.

I don't have anything against Vaseline, because I use it on my body instead of lotion, but I will say that if I do put it on my scalp it's irreguarly. Either because I don't have any grease (which is rare) or out of convience (because it's there). Hey that rhymed! lol

I don't use it on my scalp..but I do use it on my hair. My mom used to use it on my hair and scalp all the time when I was young.

Soulchild,

I haven't found any product, here that is pure castor oil, and I am not ready to buy some online, and even if I saw castor Oil, it's too expensive, 8 dollars. Naw, I am broke.

Is a laxative good for hair? I mean I don't want my mom cathcing me with this, she probably, wouldn't approve me on putting a laxative on my hair, no matter how much I try to tell her, or if I sneak it, and buy it, and put it in a different hair bottle. Then use it. What exactly does castor oil do?

Castor Oil is a very thick oil that comes from the seeds of the castor plant. A very glossy oil on the skin and an excellent lubricant that quickly absorbs into the skin. Used in lipsticks, lip balms and lip salves. Also used in transparent soaps and hair grooming products.Acts as a humectant by attracting and retaining moisture to the skin. In combination with other vegetable oils, it makes a wonderfully emollient. Effective in treating conditions such as dry, brittle damaged hair or hair loss.

A lot of us here use castor oil, and it's perfectly safe for hair. It's just under the package of a laxative, like how mineral oil is, simply because it can also treat those problems. Hope this helps.
