Ok Now that I've found my staples and am using products with better/less ingredients does this mean that I don't have to clarify every week? Or would it still be good to clarify because of the hard water?

I never clarify. I don't use products. I just shampoo twice a week and condition and go about life.

I don't think anyone can tell you whether or not you should clarify. You have to pay attention to your hair and judge that for yourself. If products stop behaving normally or your hair looks dull, or you have gunk on your scalp (and there may be a few more clues), then you will know you ought to clarify. I say just play it by ear.

^^^^^^

Yup.:yep:
I Agree. You do have to listen to your hair. I like to clarify at least every 4-8 weeks, because I am extremely heavy-handed with Product and I use alot of different products (just the PJ in me:look:).

So, if it is something 'new' I haven't tried, I like to clarify first to gauge how it works.

Clarifying every week seems a little excessive. That would suck the moisture out of your hair.

I clarify maybe every 4-5 weeks because I use a lot of gels and serums on my hair.

If you don't use too many products you may not need to clarify very often.

I agree. I think it depends upon the nature of the agents being used in conjunction with your hair's response to those products.
