So ladies ..how's it going? On my end so far so good. My hair has gotten a little dry. After the surgery and ... , I got a little lazy. HOwever, I'm still motivated to wait until Febuary, my 4 month mark, to do a re-touch.

What's Helping:
1. Shea butter ...andmore shea butter (my hair loves it!!!)

2. Sauve version of Humectress for CO washes

3. Kerastse Dermo Calm Poo and CON ? their product Dermo Calm ... my scalp is LOVIN' that!!

4. Found a bew favourite mixture .. profectiv 3 Phase oil + ORS olive oil cream. I put the oil on first and then the olive oil cream.

I really need to work on refining my regimen and stop experimenting so much... but it's been a hobby of mine since I was in my teens!

Hi BalletBun
wave.gif
welcome back!

I'm still experimenting with products as well. I resently tried to use Avalon regular conditioner as a leave-in along with CD HHB but that didn't go well. I'm going to have to try my new CD products with my favorite new find , Bumble and bumble leave-in. I just love this leave-in. Bumble along with my oils makes my hair feel sooooooo moisturized.

Ballet Bun I hope you have a speedy recovery from your surgery. I know what that is like I also had surgery a year ago. I am doing well with my stretch. 10 weeks post relaxer. I decided to wait until April. I just recently bought surge and want to give it a few months to work. Also using WGO and Mango Butter to keep the new growth moist.

I'm starting over .. I got my touch up at 17 weeks -- on Dec. 13. It was a struggle towards the end but all is well and I'm glad I stretched out my relaxer to 17 weeks -- I don't think I can go any longer though. I gained alot of new growth and retained alot of old growth do to wearing my hair in a bun, braidout, or roller set. I never wore my hair straight after I believe week 3 of my relaxer.

I am back on to the stretching out the relaxer challenge so I can gain another 3+ inches and be passed my bra strap!

I'm at 5 1/2 months post relaxer, and it was going well until I started using the surge. The surge is making my roots puffy (like my hair has been air dried), I don't like that too much. I wash and deep condition with heat once a week and keep my hair moisturized with finishing lotion. For my ends I use a light pomade and wear my hair in a bun all week. Oh, I am blow drying my hair once a week after the deep condition. My 5 1/2 month hair breaks easily after air drying. I have pics of my newgrowth, just click the link in my sig.

In my mind I've given up, but I still haven't relaxed yet. So technically I'm still in the challenge, lol. I did go out and buy my relaxer today, but of course have not used it. I'm just taking it day by day, but if I need to relax, than I'm prepared.

In the meantime, I have found that sectioning my hair helps with washing and detangling. I don't pull my comb from root to end anymore - it is waaay to bushy up there! I just do as best as I can. Keeping it moisturized and protected. I'm not washing as often but, I do it at least 2x week (only 1x with shampoo). At home I wear my hair in 4 plaits. To go out, I put it in a bun.

Sorry ladies ! I got a relaxer on Tuesday. Ive been wearing my hair in a bun even though i have gotten my touchup. i guess Im paranoid. My hair has grown since the last relaxer so I am happy about that. I will have pictures soon!

Well this weekend will be 6 weeks post-touch up. I am still in the challenge. I have re-discovered Humecto, which really flattened the roots after I deep conditioned with it for 30 minutes. I also had to break out the old WGO.

I am pretty proud of myself, considering I have not used heat in all this time (except for the hooded dryer).

I'm just going to take it one week at a time, though. If I can make it to 8 weeks, that will be an accomplishment for me. We'll see.

i just washed my hair today and WHOA...i got a forest up there
rofl.gif
but the cholesteral helped to soften and detangle all that alot...especially soften
smile.gif
saturday is the day i would normally be doing my touchup (8weeks) but i'm in this for 12 weeks AND i'm supposed to be trying to transition so lord only knows what i'ma do
wink.gif
i just greased my scalp (yup i sure do) after blowdrying and the tea tree oil has it all tingly
smile.gif
i'm gonna spray sta sof fro on my roots tomorrow, that REALLY helped me after my last shampoo with my new growth. (added a new pic to show my newgrowth to my album today) good luck to everyone

Well I made it to 13 weeks and got a retouch last night.

I'd never gone past 10-12 weeks so this was a huge accomplishment for my 4b hair. I think moving forward though I'm going to stick with the 12 week mark.

I got a relaxer Dec. 26 so it was just over four months between relaxers. I am going to wait until May to get my next relaxer.

I relaxed my hair on Dec 27 I went 13 weeks and that's great
for me I noticed my hair was not has thinned looking compared to when I relax at 6 weeks.

I'm still in the challenge. My last relaxer was on August 16th, and I'm planning for my next retouch next Saturday or Sunday.

I'm at 12 weeks so far, and I really need a touchup. My hair has been shedding and breaking a little bit, but these braidouts have been helping it.

I'm definitely in this challenge and didn't even know it! I just relaxed on 12/22 or so, afer 13 weeks. My previuos relaxer was at 11 weeks. I find that my hair is much fuller and thicker when I relax less frequently. I think it has also allowed me to actually "see" the progress. Rollersetting in spirals are a lifesaving technique when the "bush" comes forth. When I do them, I don't comb alot with a comb, mostly my fingers and I can just slather on something like Keracare High Sheen Glossifier and go. I also shampoo/con wash more often as the time increases to keep it moisturized. Who knows? with SURGE as part of my regimen, I may be able to go even longer. Ciao!

i'm entering my 5th month without a relaxer. It has been a lot of work to keep my hair decent. I'm having trouble with my 2 textures.the only thing that gives me enough slip so I can have a painless combthrough is CON. However, if I use any conditioner (cholesterol, humecto, VO5)it tangles up so bad and I get tons of breakage. I'm thinking about trying just the con without deep conditioning for a week to see what happens. I tryed clarifying and the same thing still happens. I wanted to get to the 6 month mark, but with this mess on my head I doubt it will last more than 2 weeks.Wish me luck!!!!

I have a lot of new growth but I'm still in the challenge! My hair is strong; no shedding/breaking at this point. I'm moisturizing and surging daily. My last touch up was in early October so I'm trying to hold out until April. I think I'll try braids for a few months.

Wildflower ... good luck. At this point, i couldn't imagine going 6 months. Let us know if you make it!!!

8 weeks! Whew!

Going for 12! I might push it longer. I'm gonna go until I can't take it anymore instead of a certain number of weeks.

DSD ...Good luck!!! I'm going on week 11. My husband looked at me and asked, "Isn't it time for a relaxer soon." I didn't think my hair looked that jacked up ...

DSD ... I wasn't mad at all ... I just laughed actually. Because I was sitting there thinking ..."what in the world does a caucasion man know about relaxers." I actually said that to him once and he just said, "well ... I'm learning."

Still in it, but with adding Surge, I don't know if I'm goin go to make it to almost a year. And wouldn't you know, my friend who I was stretching out for to encourage her not to get a relaxer while she was pregnant actually relaxed right before Christmas. I was telling her that I didn't know how much longer I could go because Surge was making my hair seem thicker and she said, "Don't wait on me. Girl, I had to relax because I was going home and nobody has seen me with nappy hair." So that was like a releasing.

24 weeks post-relaxer today.
