Tub FULL of hair...I literally have none now

Just sending a hug to you. So sorry for what you are going through, I am hoping and believing for you to find out what is causing this and get to the bottom of it asap:kiss:.

I think you changed your pH level too. What you described has happened to me more than a few times but only once with the severe shedding/breaking.

Even though I am not a huge fan of Nexxus, I think they actually have a detangler that has worked pretty good in the past with my hair. But in any case don't try and comb it, I think you really need the pros if you lost quite a bit of hair already.

It does sound like the ph level was changed, I once had a problem similar to yours. Sccobygirl, you're probably talking about Nexxus Ensure. It is an acidifying detangler. When I used Nexxus Ensure it solved my problem.

Bmack,

I had the exact same thing a while ago. My hair was very spongy and stringy when wet.

Once dry, oh my God, the shedding was unreal. All I had to do was stroke it, not even rub and strands came off in the hundreds. However, mine was a combination of shedding and breakage (small bits breaking off rather than shedding at the roots).

Here's what I did, I bought BioVite, yes ladies I know it's dog shampoo but I was desperate. I used it and then used the Tresseme Isoteric protein product, sat under a heat cap 20 minutes. I did this for 3 days and the shedding, breakage just stopped all of a sudden. BTW, I added peppermint and rosemary essential oil to the shampoo and conditioner. Left the shampoo in for 5 mins. Since then I used to wash my hair daily, now it's every other day. My hair is v. short so it's no big deal with drying.

Like the other ladies said, I'd get all the knots out first then start gradually getting things back to normal. One valuable lesson I've learned from this board is not to add to much stuff to my hair at the same time or on the same day.

Now I alternate, see below for my routine

Monday - Shampoo + co (QP Elasta Con Shampoo + M' Tail Deep Moisturizing conditioner), whist hair is damp every time it gets washed I add BT. Once hair is dry I moisturize with QP Elasta Recovery, JBCO with Rosemary and Peppermint mixed in to seal in the moisture.

Wednesday - M' Tail Proten Shampoo + ORS sit under heat cap for 20 mins. Profectiv Conditioning stuff. This is my protein day so no moisturising prods.

Friday - Repeat Monday

Sunday - BioVite shampoo + ORS with shower cap no heat, stays on for 2hrs. Then followed by moisture routine.

For me as my hair is just, well, all u have to do is look at it in the mirror and it'll shed or break, it's that fragile / weak. This is the only way so far I've managed to keep it from falling out.

Hope this helps and girl, I really feel for you. I’ve shed those tears many times.

BTW, I can't find Tresseme Isoteric protein product anywhere so if anyone sees it in a shop in North London pls let me know. The have a new one out but they seemed to have mixed it with moisturising stuff, I prefer it to ORS.

BTW, forgot to say, for me the more I worried the worse it got. So you really need to get to the bottom of what is causing the shedding and try and find a way to deal with it depending on how traumatic it is.

I think mine was just general daily life stress.

I'm sorry that you're going through this:sad: Was this your first time using Nexxus products? Has this amount of loss happened before? Has this been going on since your last touch up? If you are certain that your hair was properly neutralized? If so, I agree with the others who say go see a doctor & have some tests run. Do you think that someone would tamper with your products?

Good luck in getting to the bottom of your hair loss.

Wow...Im so sorry to hear about this!! I dont have any advice since Im just starting my regimine, but I do know that staying hydrated with the proper amount of water helps tremendously!! A good way to calculate how much you should drink is to take your body weight, divide it by 2, then take that number and divide it into 16(for a 16 ounce bottle of water), and the number you get is how many 16 oz bottles of water you should drink a day, at least thats how Ive heard it anyway. Keep us posted about your progress!! And like someone else said, post pics, maybe its not as bad as you think!! Let us know how all turns out tho!

(((hugs))) I hate that you're going through this. I would try a cheap cond was great slip. V05, Suave and CON all have great slip. I believe that will help with the detangling.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I had a simular thing happened to me. I just cut about three inches offbecause of it. I agree you should see a dermatologist. BTY how is your scalp acting. I think part of my problem was that I stopped doing ACV and distilled water rinses.

Conditioner does not detangle my hair I have to add a rinse or a little shampoo( BBD Triple Slip Shampoo works well). ACV rinses kept my scalp healthy too. I'm not sure if you've used a hardcore protein. When my hair was starting to knot up and snap off to were I could hear it snap, I used Dudley drc28 followed by a moisturizing conditioner, and it made a world of difference. Again, I wouldn't try anymore suggestions until I see a determatogist. Good luck and keep us posted on how your doing!!!

I had something similar happen to me but I had wet and wavy braids in my head. I really dont have any advice but I just wanted to say I said a silent pray:pray: for you and sorry this had to happen. But God will bless you with a even better head of hair. Just wait you'll see.:needhug::hug2::hug3:

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with your hair...this seems really bizarre.

I wouldn't recommend you applying anything else to your hair. Go to a specialist or a highly recommended stylist who knows how to deal with these sort of issues. Consult with them before you do anything else to your hair.

I just tried to wash and condition my hair; I had posted earlier about how much it was thinning. It went to thin and limp in less than a week. My hair was scarce.

I washed and conditioned with Nexxus products. I used therappe poo, and then keraphix for a touch of protein and then Humectress conditioner. I could not comb through my hair at all with tons of conditioner, and it was like a clump of tangles.

My hair never behaved this way in years. I am not sure what to do now. I cut it may not be even I don't know what to do. I just started crying in the shower WTF :perplexed.

I really do not know what to do.

Sorry to hear of your trouble, but it will work out! Hang in there!
When you wash your hair do you pile it up and scrub it and "move" it vigorously? That causes extra tangles.

Also, try CREME OF NATURE shampoo. That always helps me when I tangle; it helps a great deal.

Are you rushing to detangle? Do it on airdried to damp hair not wet AND TAKE YOUR TIME. Wet hair is VERY fragile!

I know if you were to see a doctor/dermatologist it may take a few days or even weeks to get seen. In the meantime do NOT touch your hair. Wear a wig for now until your appointment. Also increase your water intake, within a few weeks you will notice a difference in the suppleness of your hair. People would tell me this all the time but I ignored them. As an experiment for a few weeks all I would drink is soda. My hair texture drastically changed! It became very brittle, dry and was breaking. The next month all I would drink is water and a few weeks later my hair was nourished back to full health. Please drink water! If you don't like plain water use a lemon or those flavor packs. Hope all goes well.

This is a great post and ITA:yep:

Aww Bmack...hang in there

Thanks, I have been drinking it all day today...I figured it would help.

HM, do you think it went more acidic or alkaline? When shedding, is this the first place to look? I'm back to being paranoid about my products:nono:

Bmack, I can't offer any suggestions, only cosign with the ladies and HM-I think somebody posted a while back about some girls putting nair in their niece's shampoo. Has anybody that you can think of had access to your products that may not have your best interests?

God, I don't think so.

My prayers are with you. I hope that today was a bit brighter for you and I would definitely make various doctor appointments.

Thank you, I wore a lose pigtail ( it aint a pony anymore) I cut it down this morning too. When I got home It looked so damn dry, so I added some hair cream, and loosely pinned it under...well as loose as possible its too short to have it really loose. :ohwell:

I'm sorry to hear this. I agree with everyone else also .I hope it works out for you and, your appointment gives you some answers.
Keep us posted

I am so simple with my regimen. I wash in the shower all the time straight back. I use Kera care but decided to use Nexxus products I had to combat the shedding. It only made it worse, all my hair fell out. There was a tremendous amount of hair left in the tub. I had already a few clumps on the side after pulling them out of the comb but when I looked in the tub (to wash out) There was so much hair!! I was so shocked. My hair feels like nothing. Usually when I was my hair, there is a fullness to it once dry, it gets really puffy...well not this time. It is so flat and limp.

I want to thank you ladies, I can now discuss it without tears welling up. I appreciate the support because I felt so down. I mistakenly cut my hair short back in May, and it was growing so fast. I loved the length...now it is back there but so damn limp! I am getting a migraine now...so I will try to be positive. I really do thank you guys for your support:yep:

If your NEXXUS is from a good source, coat your hair with the Humectress and sit under dryer with plastic cap for 15min. then rinse..

No advice, just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear you are going through this and to keep the stress minimal (hard I know) it can have a serious effect also.

Hi love, so sorry to hear this:nono:. I had the same thing happen April 2006 after using a non slip conditioner. I lost 1/2 my hair to matting. I cried like no ones business. That was one of the factors that lead me on my search ..and to finding LHCF. I'm not certain what your reason is ..but my heart goes out to you ..you'll soon have better hair days.. The Lord bless you and cause His face to Shine upon you.:love2:

I really hate hearing that this has happened to you. All I can say is to be strong. I had something similar happen to me, some months back, but it was due to a hair dye being put in my hair in a way that caused it to get really tangled. When I went to wash it, soooooooooooo much hair came out...all I could do is cry. When I got my hair blowed out, it was MUCH thinner, even my bf admitted that it was thin...and my hair has always been VERY thick. This hurt so bad, that I didn't want to wear it down anymore. Just recently, after wearing braids, I decided to do the wng with the Noodle Head, and thought it was the best thing, until a few days into it when I tried to wash it. OMG :wallbash:...trust me when I say...I lost so much hair, just like what you're describing. I was literally pulling out clumps of hair, it was just undescribable. So, I really do feel your pain. I just got out of the mirror trying to convince myself that it's not that bad, and then I read your post. My advice is pretty much what the others have said. Just drink lots of water, try to be gentle with your hair and not manipulate your hair too much. I will keep you in my prayers .

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you! I remember the days when I used to get really bad tangles and lose clumps of hair every wash day... not fun. :wallbash: My hair was really damaged back then, and very weak. Something must have compromised the integrity of your strands to make your hair knot up like that.

So so chic, do you think it was the Noodlehead that caused your hair to get tangled up??? I was about to run out and buy that stuff for my twist outs, but now you have me thinking twice. :look:

Thank u!!! I feel much better now. I have been wearing it all back in a low loose pig tail. I am leaving it alone!

Thanks alot, I really need the encouragement! I do feel much better today though. I want to deep con again but I am scared to wash it again:perplexed

Bmack,

I am so terribly sorry that you are going through this. In your siggy it says that you have to get your body back. Are you on any new or strict diet or exercise plan? If you are seriously restricting your diet, hair loss can follow. Also, if you are going on, or off Birthcontrol, or having hormonal changes or stress hair loss can follow.

I really agree with the posts that suggest going to the Dermatologist. I also think a trip to your regular doctor would be of help, in case it is a result of something other than Dermatology. Hair and skin tend to be a mirror of health. Usually it will begin to suffer, as the body will sacrifice nurishing it, when the more important body systems are out of balance.

I wish you well and hope this problem is short lived for you.

Softresses

Im sorry to hear that, OP. I agree with Softresses about the diet restriction thing...that could definitely be the culprit. I remember a young lady on the board telling how she had lost a lot of hair by following the Atkins diet. Also, are you taking any meds like lamisil tablets or something like that because I know lots of people complained about hair problems while taking this, too. Whatever the situation, I hope it gets better, my dear.

No, I exercise but not starve myself...actually I have been o'ding with food. I was watching what I ate before, like eating more fruits/veggies that type of thing but never starvation type dieting.

I am going to make an appointment for this coming week. I plan to wash my hair tonight, as it has gotten really greasy??? I have no idea how. I did put a little creme twice but that is it:ohwell:

I went to the BSS to get some more products, and I will go very easy tonight. I am a bit scarred though...:perplexed
