I am transitioning and I also like to work out. When I have my extensions in it is not a problem, but when I take them out and wear my hair straight it becomes a problem. Any tips on how to take care of my hair when exercising and keeping the heat to a minimum? P.S. I sweat a lot when working out :perplexed lol!

In the beginning stages of my transition this is what worked for me.

I put my hair in a high pony and tied a scarf around the perimeter. I had to keep the scarf on until my hair was fairly dry at the base. If I took it off too soon, the roots would swell.

Be sure to keep the pony off of your neck.

Welcome to LHCF :)

I agree with dynamic1. At the beginning of my transition I wore my hair in a high pony. Sometimes I'd wear a bandana around the perimeter but most times I wouldn't because the combination of heat and sweat can make the roots puffy. Usually I wouldn't need to touch up with a flat iron until Day 5 of working out because my hair doesn't easily revert with sweat. HTH.
