I had a looooong transition. I kept my hair flat ironed. It was all I knew back then. I did have an extremely easy transition though.
 
i voted other.

10 going into 11 months here with about 6 inches of juicy naps. hair canbe considered tex'd/underprocessed so i think it makes things easier to match texutures.

had some real bad tangling around month 4-6 but that's all done now and transitioning has become a breeze.

My main style is the braid-out. i occasionally use heat like for rollersetting under a dryer. very very occasional flat ironing and blowdrying on warm or cool setting, averaging about once a month. really, it's even less than that with the blowdryer. haven't touched a curling iron in 10 months.

i don't intend to do any big chops, if anything they will be an inch here or there. i'm really not in any hurry to do anything at the moment cept grow the stuff out. i do the search and destroy on any splits about once a month.

natural hair is doing really well and looks extremely healthy and i love the texture of it. the relaxed ends are doing very well also and so far i have had extremely minimal breakage @ the line of demarcation.

poo once a week and DC every wash with lots of moisturizing conditioners.
 
I voted BC... but I transitioned for 4 months first...I don't think that I could have dealt with a fade or super low cut.:perplexed

I transitioned for 14 months and then chopped. I didn't use heat. I cowashed most days and kept my hair in protective styles.

I've been doing roller sets and twist outs since July 2005 - simple and least damaging while allowing me to keep my length. Nothing short of a miracle would make me big chop, use direct heat, or wear extensions.
 
I voted other.

I never did the BC and I really cannot call my transition over. I had 1 layered mini chop by a stylist and several trims (not including my own self-trims to the pieces that annoyed me). During my transition, I used direct heat about 4 x per year to trim/cut. I still have some straight end pieces in the back crown layers, but I do not want to cut my layers any deeper just yet.

Primarily, I did air dried buns. I did some straw, flexi, and twist sets along the way. During the last 6 months, I have been experimenting with the wash and go. Now that it is colder, I am back to the buns.
 
I'm in my 20th month of transitioning. :) I have used heat twice- I don't want heat ruining my texture. The first year I would co-wash, deep condition, air-dry and then wear a bun or a phony-pony. I used several different types so that I wouldn't get bored and I baggied my ends underneath.

I've been rocking a sew-in for about 6 weeks and I love it. I've got to do a better job of moisturizing my hair but this has been a lifesaver and works really well for work. I plan to chop off the relaxed ends in April and hopefully I'll have a nice puff by then. :) So far in my transition I have not tried heat, braids, braidouts. I plan to try natural products and styles soon.
 
When I first started to transition I wore alot of bantu knot outs, curly roller sets and flat twist
That worked for about three months then I got extension braids for a while I think like 10 months total
 
Im currently entering into my second year transitioning. I use all the above. Braids, braid outs, twist outs, blow outs, flat ironed, wash n go, cornrows w/ extensions, weaves and I did a minishop (cut off about 6 inches of hair a year ago)
 
All I do is moisturize, put my hair in one braid and tuck it up in a bun. I'm 5.5 months and counting.
 
I am 3 months into my transitionig journey; I wear phony ponies, twist outs and roller set. I don't use heat at all. I co-wash every other day since it is summer and clarify 2x a month, at that time I do a DC. Moisturize every day and seal ends. I have also incorporated BT to help with my journey. I don't plan on doing the BC.
 
Right now, I'm wearing twist-outs to try to blend the two textures. I need to perfect my rollersets. I can never get the roller taut enough to straighten my roots. I tried to rollerset over the weekend and it came out like this:

Obviously, I'm not doing something right. I ended up putting it up in a clip. :confused:
 
I transitioned for a year with mini-chops in between. I wore roller sets at first then moved on to wash n gos and flat ironing.
 
My transition ended last month :) Total transition time was 2 years, 3 months and worth it. I used heat 3-4 times in that period. I transitioned with puffs, phony ponies, 1/2 wigs, buns, a sew-in weave. Anything but heat and glue. :lol: Right now I'm just loving being natural :)

I haven't completed my transition yet but, I've been doing twistouts, airdried ponytails, braidouts and about once a month I airdry and flatiron my hair. I plan on doing minichops until my hair is all natural.
 
I transitioned for a year and I did so by doing braidouts 24/7. I did braidout updos, ponies, braidout everything until I had enough to chop and still make a small pony. It worked really well.
 
I used braids, and kinky twists to transition, but then I got frustrated and chopped it off the relaxed ends. Then I did more twists, and braids until it grew to a length that I could properly take care of. If I could do it over I would have transitioned longer b/c it was a major shock to have such short hair.
 
I transitioned using micro braids, cornrows, and kinky twists. I couldn't do the big chop. So when I would take the braids down I would deep condition my hair and do mini chops until I had enough natural hair to remove the braids all together.
 
I have no clue what i am doing with this transition. When i went natural the first time, braids and weaves were my friend. Now i am rollersetting and considering buying a lace front. I am currently 5.5 months post and i am looking to transition for 18 months. which will be a looonnggg while
 
Awwww, Suki-Suki! I'm 4 months in. or 16 weeks.
Currently braided up until mid September.

I can do this!!! Grow! Grow! Grow!:bouncegre
