Have you ever noticed since joining hair boards that you see people in a different light? Like folks who you ALWAYS thought had such long hair, you look at them now and are like "oh, she's JUST APL" and so on... Does that happen to anyone?

yeppers. this has happened to me. there's this one girl who lives around my way and her hair is about two inches past SL. pre lhcf i would've been like man her hair is soooooo long. now i'm like psssh whatever, i'll grow mine to BSL and i'll b the girl w/ the long hair. lol. :drunk:

I don't think its mean at all. As I learn more about healthy hair, I look at hair differntly. Before length I'm looking to see if its healthy first, then if its real , then I look at the length. I'm more into healthy hair and seeing APL or longer means nothing to me anymore if its not healthy hair.

That's not mean.

This board has made me even more of a hair snob than I already was. I didn't really think that was possible.:lachen:

haha, thanks hardcandy

SunnyDelight - I think I meant mean either in terms of "oh... is THAT all you had that I was so jealous of and drooling over? But you're right, I do look at hair differently. For me I do real first, then healthy, then length haha.

ITA. I have become such a hair snob! There are just too many beautiful heads of hair on LHCF and nothing seems to compare to them in "real life".

LOL @ doing real first:lol:, that is very important. And I do understand what you're saying about not being as impressed with people as you used to be. Being a person who coud never get past neck length in the past, I was impressed with a whole lot of people's hair, anyone who was at sl or longer, I was like :notworthy, but now it's takes more for me to be wowed.

:lachen: haha yes.... before lhcf my goal was APL (one of my cousins is this length)... AFTER lhcf... I don't know anyone (black/white/indian/asian) who has the length of hair I'm aspiring to which is hip length UNSTRETCHED!

I don't think it's mean at all.

I don't really notice the length, per se, but I do notice the general health. For years I was getting braids and did not know the downsides. After I learned a lot I saw this woman that had a hairline that was practically back to her ears AND she had braids in her hair. I thought to myself "this is so sad".

Yes. I have become a hair snob. PLUS I can assess someone's immediate hair needs *at a glance* based the advanced research and training skills I've received from LHCF. :sekret:

I have been doing this lately and I really need to stop.A person will walk past me and my mind starts accessing their hair care needs "hmmmm...I think she needs a double shot of moisture and a dab of EVOO on those crusty ends":spinning:

Nope, tho I guess I'm alone here. Past about 10 years old, it was always about great styles which I couldn't have because I have long hair. I mostly envied tight styles as opposed to length. There's no real "trick" to "loose" length, but a good style that always looks good or very nice locs, yup.

Yeah I do that to..

Like sunnydelight, im more interested in health rather than length.. I see people with long hair, but it looks messed up, and I dont want that :)

it's only oen gurl's hair in which my perception hasn't changed. There are quite a few gurls with thin long hair around here. It sure is long but it's a greasy or dry tangled and thin MESS. Hmpf...My almost APL hair looks better by health standards lol I'm a h air snob. Short hair dunc are

I admire any hair length if it's healthy. It could be chin length for all I care, but if it looks healthy, shiny and voluminous, I love it!

Length doesn't really phase me. Before hair boards, you could have a bunch of dry, greasy hair, but just because it's long I would be a little envious.

These days I'd gladly take a very healthy shoulder length than a thin, damaged mid back length.

Now the thing that I really care about is health! Health plus length is a plus :yep:

just today I was walking behind a girl who is about 1" from APL but her hair was so thing and dry.....and I'm thinking of stuff she could do to bring it back to health

I think that way..but now I look at health at health also...but when I first started...I was hey I want my hair to be that long...and I had just cut most of my hair that was like that off...

Totally!! I'll see someone, and say - ooooh, isn't her hair LONG - and then realize it's JUST APL. I don't think it's a bad thing, as it's very inspiring to me - and I hope that it'll help keep my hair anorexia in check.... I hope.

Same here. I see women walking around and I'm like "aww, you're so cute to actually think that your so-and-so length hair is long".:lachen:

Of course, I only say that in my head.:lachen:

Yep, my perception of long has TOTALLY changed! I have hair anorexia, so as long as my hair keeps growing and retaining length, my definition of what is long changes too!

But length alone doesn't impress me like it used to. I love fierce cuts, really shiny hair, and cool textured hair. I guess I'm more into style and health these days. Long hair is just a bonus :)

I am so glad my hair grew without (NO SALON) help at all.My hair stayed shoulder length forever, till i found LHCF(:drunk:)
My hair never been this long in my life,

My anut/cousin ARROGATE as hell ,they been go to the salon 30 yrs long as i can remember
My hair now way pass theirs.at church they look at me roll they eyes at me like (HATING)
I remember wearing weave glued in my hair in the back tellin them its was my hair tucked in that ponytail ,cause they both had pretty long shoulder lenght hair.NOW
i make sure my hair is down when i see them at church(I want never share !!!!!!!!! NOTHING with them}:nono:
let them keep goin to the salon spendin tha money while they hair stay the same lenght forever

One day my anut seen my hair actually down for the first time she said LISA hair really growin ,in my mind i wanted say not longer than mine:rolleyes:now

Yeah, it just sorta puts it into perspective.

Haha, I do that sometimes too. Definite hair snob. :lachen:

No, I still admire people with APL hair or longer. Never had it before so thats why I admire it.
I admire it too, it's just different. It doesn't quite so "oooooh out of reach - Rapunzel" type stuff.

I love to see healthy hair too. Different colors, textures and all that. Variety being the spice of life and all that.

Total snob here.

Let someone even give me a look like that ish ain't hers....and i will do a yt girl flip AND run my fingers s-l-o-w-l-y down the length of my now BSL hair for added effect.

Leave 'em drooling.

I look at the health of hair a lot more now too... I was never gaga over long hair since mine was always long. Thickness and a well styled healthy head of hair always made me swoon, now, just moreso :)
