... for the summer. I know I know, first it was a curly weave and now this

I find that I am sweating... ALOT... and it is really messing with my hair. What I want to do is get small cornrows and leave the ends out - about bra strap length - BUT I want to know if I use the human hair, will I be able to:

* run water over them on a daily basis?
* slather some conditioner on them daily (for a quick CO wash)?
* How would I do that without disturbing my braids (ie. frizz and such)?
* Would this cause my hair to have that 'mildew' smell being that they will be wet all the time?

TIA

I just took out my braids a week ago (had them in for 8 weeks). I used synthetic hair and I washed once a week but rinsed or co washed every other day or at least twice a week. I did not have problems with the "frizzies".

I like using synthetic hair because I find that it makes the braids last longer and stay "smoother" longer. I NEVER had a mildew smell and I let my braids air dry. I got tons of new growth but no build up when I took them down!

I used Surge on my scalp twice daily, made my own braid spray of water, jojoba and a tiny bit of gylcerine twice a day, used Worlds of Curls activator on the length and tied a scarf on it at night.

i am printing out simlpycee's regimine. those are great tips. I want to get a style just like that too CH. don't do the human hair girl, you can't do all of that with the huamn hair. those braids will unravel with the quickness. I alwasy used human hair everytime i got microbraids and although it's great for the hair, it looks messy very quickly. get the synthetic hair girl, they will last much longer and stay neater. if you take care of the braids, your hair will not break how some people say the synthetic does your hair. byt the way, have you seen our girl pepperanne, her braids are off the hook! they are beautiful and she used synthetic hair. i so what to have her braids right now. they are beautiful! sorry pep for blowing you up but you deserve props. i have one big party to attend on the 25 and then the next week I am braiding it up. if you find a place to go, let me know and I will do the same. i am not trying to be in the salon this summer under the dryer.

I am going to ask choclateprincess where she gets her's done. I know she goes to some spot in Bklyn so I'll ask her rite now... give me a sec... i have to send her an email.

Do you guys think i should try and mix and max the hair (so it'll give me a hilited look)? If so, what colors (#s)?

The first one is off black/dark golden blonde, the second one is medium brown/golden blond and the third is medium brown/ash/pale blond.

I'm mad obsessed with braids and different color combo's. I'm trying to get into wigs but I never see anything that looks good in person.

I know we spoke about this but I don't remember telling you what kind of hair I had, it's pony hair!

I do the usual washing/conditioning with the hair. The ends are out! After I'm done I just wrap the braids around in a bun and let it dry on it's own.

I always do a hot oil or protein treatment before getting braids and I like to mix my colors to I do black and bronze color and get a lot of compliments.

Oh my goodness!!!!!! i saw your pics of your various styles and those are the EXACT braids I want
ooo.gif
I am printin your pic to show to whoever does them for me. i have to have mine started with my own hair and then they add the synthetic hair gradually. i hate that knot you always see at the start of the braid. not every braider can do this. where did you go girl? ch, we need to get the address so we can go. i am going next week or even this weekend. so pony hair is the hair that you purchased, any partiicular brand?

Also ladies, don't be alarmed but when she's done she will braid the hair close to the end and then put crazy glue to seal it so it won't unravel. This works very well because I can still wash my hair and the braids stay put.

the synthetic hair thing sounds so good,,,,but i am afraid it will rip/damage my real hair........and I know that my hair is extra fragile now that i am transitioning....I am also looking for a braider who will does not do tight braids...any suggestions????

SL - i just tell them, that's too tight and they loosen it rite up. Even if the braid is finished, if i feel uncomfortable, they just take it out and redo it. Don't b afraid to speak up b/c most braiders braid ur hair tight and if you don't say anything, they will continue on.

Try the pony hair, it's very soft and light weight.
