WEAVE... I've always wanted to know how it felt to have hair hanging down my back, blowing in the breeze, getting in my dance partners mouth, up in a high bun, well, you guys get the point

. I know with a little more patience and about 2 more years I'll be there but I just wanna cheat a little. I was thinking about getting it bra strap length. I sort of want 'pieces' for length but am a little hesitant about using glue (just the thought of pulling that stuff out of my hair makes me nervous) and I don't want a sewn in weave either (takes too long). Can somebody offer me some quick ideas (or refer somebody in the bronx or manhattan area that is REASONABLY priced). BTW, i'd like this done 2day or 2morrow. Thanks ladies.

WHAT??? CH, your hair looks so pretty!! It's thick & healthy, and it's long enough!! Why do you want to get a weave?? What if it messes up your hair???

Hmmpf... I wouldn't do it...

Thanks a lot Lin... now i'm getting nervous

But seriously, I just wanna try something new. I'm not going to keep it in 4ever, just for a week or so (depending on how it holds up).
p.s. you sound like my boyfriend, he HATES fake anything.

What about a human hair fall? I think they're also called 3/4 wigs and demi wigs. It's similar to a quick weave or instant weave. I was eyeing a woman's hair in a public restroom. I thought it was real until she whipped it off and started scratching and spraying her cornrows.
laugh.gif
It looked very real.
smile.gif
It was probably a custom job--I can't imagine finding something that convincing hanging on a hook in the bss...

There's also clip on hair. Or you can buy the little clips at the bss and sew them onto the hair of your choice.

Where would I go to get the hair and what kind? I don't want it to look 'fake' and I don't want nobody touching my hair either...

CH what hair texture are U ?
U dont need a weave, people put weaves in thier hair so it can look as thick as yours !!!!!!

I know someone who wears a weave and it always looks good--never fake. She spends a small fortune ordering hair from adorablehair.com They have a store in NYC. You can probably walk right in and pay less than she does. After looking at the site, I think she wears the Spanish wavy hair.

Stop it right now!!! Your hair looks nice and long enough. Be patient. I know it's hard, but you can do it.

There is nothing wrong with a weave. I consider them protective, and there are beautiful options out there. It's no different from wearing braids.
nono.gif

And weaves aren't just for people with short or thin hair either.

Big misconception.

Sorry, I am a 2B/C. And you didn't choose the wrong words, I was just thinking she can't mean that because it's already under my name (like it use to be but i guess since the 'blackout' of the board, it's been removed):D

Since you don't want a sewn-in one ( I'd never recommend glue), I think your other option left is the clips. I don't know any beauty supply stores that sell them, but I'm sure there are places online that you can purchase them from. But whatever you do, don't buy a cheap quality. That screams "FAKE!"
laugh.gif

Having said all that, to be honest, I think you should invest in a long, human hair fall before the clips. That way you can curl the hair, put it in twist-outs, or whatever you want!
love.gif
I highly doubt they'd make you break out in a sweat either, they don't even cover your entire head.

I think Sensationnel has a really cute one. This is their human hair one.

oh ok.. yeah i dont see anything under your name.. wow 2b/c ... u must not relax your hair often.

I relax every... come to think of it, I don't have a 'set time' to relax, i just relax when i feel like it and that's usually every 5 months or so. My new growth is usually very soft but it's still noticable esp. when I try to wear my hair out.

CH you can go to Bronx Hair supply or something liuke that on Westchester Ave. in the bronx or Adorable's in Manhattan or Lugo's in Manhattan. It will be pricey but then you can by some clips and a sew it on and pin it in. I can't wait to take my hair out of these braids and try the same thing. I too use braids and weaves for protective styling.

1) What is a human hair fall; and
2) the link doesn't work
frown.gif

Also, my hair is thick so getting it braided and then applying the weave would make my big head look gigantic!!
laugh.gif
Also, can they braid 'portions' of your hair and then sew the weave in that area only? If so, will that look too phony (easing up on the word fake b/c it's all gonna b regardless if it's human or not... sometimes, I need to pinch myself)? Remember, I just want length so they can't put too much in. Thanks.
P.S. You gotta school me girls, I don't wanna go in there sounding like a fool
rofl.gif

MM - you got me
rofl.gif
over here.
CBG - Is the bronx hair supply b/t st. lawrence and parkchester OR is it the bss on parkchester next to the liquor store? How do you pick hair? I don't want to really go by what they say because they might have me looking like weaverella and it is halloween
grin.gif
. I need a pro to go with me. Any takers?

A fall is 3/4 of a wig. So, it doesn't cover your entire head. In the front, you blend your natural hair in with the fall and it creates more of a natural look.

Try www.sensationnel.com

You can have your hair in cornrows underneath to reduce any lumpiness that could result from underneath the hair. I think these are great for letting your hair rest.
smile.gif
I have a curly one, but I don't wear it because I bought it in black.
barf.gif
I prefer just sewing in my weaves. So I don't have to worry about taking it on and off.

I went to my old stomping grounds (w. 46th) and spoke to one of the stylists there. He told me for length I'd need about 5 tracks and he also told me to stop by either Adorable (thanks sassy) or Ninas. And then he added that the hair there is pretty expensive...
laugh.gif
Y am i not surprised. Than he told me to get Yaky straight or relaxed straight. Anything else you ladies would like to add? BTW, if I get a relaxer, would it still be okay to get tracks? (i am going to have a line braided and then sewn in)

Wait a few weeks. On freshly permed hair, the cornrow tends to loosen quicker compared to a cornrow filled with newgrowth. He told you right as far as hair texture. You have thick hair and I think those textures should match it perfectly. Don't buy nothing that says "silky" because that type hair tends to be stringy and limp.

I wouldn't recommend using too much hair either, only a few tracks like he mentioned, or else the weave will appear too thick, thus screaming "FAKE!"

Thanks Karonica. But I ohhhh sooo don't want to wait and I ohhhh sooo need a relaxer ... dilemnas dilemnas... DARN!

LOL! Mindymouse, how do you really feel about weaves? Don't hold back.
laugh.gif

I also think that since you are looking for length and your hair is thick that you will need 3 track in the back and 2 not as wide ones in the front to blend the hair length together all around your head. Oh I guess that is 5. I would go with but I am never really happy with my hair that I pick out. But I had great results with JBS hair it is packaged hair and it was great for sewing in a few tracks. It bleneded beautifully and since you are 2bc it will blend even better. it is 22 a pack and you can get it 0n 222 and laconia where eastchester rd becomes laconia. There is a salon called olga's right across the street and a 31 bus stop in front of the salon.

IMO, your hair is very pretty (nice and thick). I don't feel you need a weave. If you do decide to get one, please make sure your hair is not damaged in any way.
