The word on Maxiglide...

This is such an exciting thread! I consider myself hair cheap too but this iron seems to be worth it. I like the idea of the steam technology, it's like what makes Caruso so good but you get straight hair instead which is very appealing to me. :yep:

I have that Fantasia Straightening Heat Protecting serum too and it's da truth! That makes my cheap flat iron used on setting 1 look good, imagine how it will work with the Maxiglide. It looks like I'll be able to stretch my relaxers even longer with this baby. The possibilities seem endless...

ETA: BTW how many of my relaxed sistas use this, I'm just curious. Since I airdry all the time, I'm on the lookout for some straight hair. :sekret:

I bought a maxiglide and used it for the first time a few days ago. I had decided to give up on flat irons when i realized that my hair is too fine and fragile to be handling the heat. But the problem with rollersets was that I was doing too much wet manipulation to part my ng and such. The maxiglide is...WOW...seriously I'm in love with the steam feature. Just the puff of steam alone was enough to straighten out the frizzy ends and then one run through was all I needed. I watched the instructional DVD first (very helpful) and then I washed and airdried. It is perfect for people who can't just airdry because you're left with slightly puffy/tangled hair, like me.

So the maxiglide left my hair straight and detangled and because you don't have to squeeze it through the hair (you just glide) i didn't feel like I was applying as much direct heat to my hair, I loved that. I only saw four hairs in the detangling pins afterward (and no broken pieces so they were shedded hairs anyhow).

I love it! I would especially recommend for women with fine 4a/3c hair that tends to frizzy up sometimes and can't really handle a lot of heat.
And if you love the steam feature of Caruso rollers, you'll probably really appreciate this too!

ETA: I used it on setting two and that was enough, so start off on the low settings!

Thats exactly what has me hooked. That steam is the truth

IMO,

I think it works better on longer hair...I have one and I want to wait until my is bsl...I used it before and imo I think the thing gets to hot for my hair and I am a 4b....but it is better than any regular flat iron because of the steam no regular flat iron will straighten your newgrowth like the maxiglide....I also have the miniglide that I use for my ng on special occassions.....all in all...I love my maxiglide and some people say it is heavy but I think it is not heavy...it weighs about the same as my regular flat irons...

I got a Maxiglide today! My hubby didn't know what to get me for our anniversary, so I told him I wanted the Maxiglide so he bought it for me. The bad news is he has secreted it away until the actual date of our anniversary in a few weeks. :sekret:

Oh well, I guess good things come to those who wait... :trampolin

Ok, I didn't know that the maxglide had steam.? I'm looking into flat irons for my mother, because she is tired of relaxers. Would you say its healthier for your hair than the CHI?
