The Ultimate Hardcore No Heat Challenge 2013

*saving spot* I am trying to get fixated on health and thickness over length this year, length being a secondary/bonus accomplishment. "No heat" challenge would definitely help me. I tend to use heat to "see" the length every 3-4 months.

Yaay!!! Space saver :) I am excited because I want to eliminate heat from my regimen to obtain healthy long hair. So my stats & start pic will be up towards the end of the month when I take my cornrows out.

I started this challenge in Sept so I will be 8 weeks in this sat! So far so good, I haven't even been tempted to use heat. Can't wait for this challenge to start officially, I'm so excited to see the results of our determination to resist heat!

AXtremeTakeover What is that magical net? I'm interested in weaving for the next year too and I know NOTHING about weaves.

I am doing the setting to success challenge and I plan to do curlformers and rollersets all year long! Can't wait to join. I will post my stats later when I get a new ppic

1. I am doing Challenge Level 3
2. Have you ever done a no heat challenge before? I am currently in a heat challenge but I failed 2 weeks ago. I didn't have time for my hair to airdry before braids so I had to use a blowdryer. This time around I will be using rollersets to stretch my hair before I get braids.
3. Do you plan to trim your ends without heat? I'm thinking that I may get a trim before the challenge starts. I haven't had scissors in my hair in over a year but I'm not too worried since I don't use heat & I dont do alot of manipulation.
4. Do you know How to Stretch your hair without heat? Yes
5. Do you plan to increase your challenge to the ultimate level by protective styling everyday? I will be PSing more than 90% of the year but I know when it gets hot there'll be some days that I'll want to wear my hair out.
5a. If not, can you commit to low manipulation styles throughout your challenge? See above.
6. What do you hope to gain from this challenge? RETENTION!!!
7. Do you know how to do length checks without heat? Yes

9. List your No Heat Regime Right now I have mini braids. I CW every other day rotating Oyin Honey Hemp Cond & AOGBP. After I CW, I use Oyin J&B to moisturize & then GSO to seal & then I'll layer the Honey Hemp over that - my version of LOC.

Here are some recent pics of me. Even though I've been on the forum for years, I still struggle with attaching images. The fro was when I blowed it out 2 weeks ago in prep for braids. The braidout pic was taken 10/21.

I have used heat going on to my third which is earlier this year. I want to go back to my no heat mandate and after seeing what it has dont to my ends i dont think it will be too hard.

This challenge means that you may need to rely on styles such as buns, braids, twists, wash n gos, braid/twistouts, bantu knot outs, flexirods, flat twists, puffs, ponys, wigs, updos, fros, etc. and to show length you may have to band, etc. This is hardcore!
I dont see weaves on this list but hey its my protective style that works for me.

I am excited. I just started this journey 3 months ago and I am seeing so much retention and growth.

I almost went out and bought a blow dryer to start blowing out my hair on wash day......whew, that was close. I must remember no heat in 2013

So i come to the conclusion that imma do another year of sew ins... Whenever i did that it was great! And imma use tgat magical net lol. That will keep me away from heat

I too have gotten the best growth from weaves, its just the best protective style for me. What the magical net Xtreme? Spill the beans plz:look:

My friend just commented on how thick my hair is and said that she has never seen my hair like this. I attribute it all to no heat. I think I'm going to give away my blow dryer and flat iron so that I won't be tempted to use them. I am in love with my thick hair.
