OMG! Your hair is definately long enough to do braidouts.
Simply tie the ends with an ouch-less rubberband or with bobby pins.
Since my hair is short right now (2 in. from neck!
) I decided not to invest in a whole new set of rollers b/c I don't plan on wearing short hair much longer.
I also stay away from heat so I usually do twist-outs. Recently since my hair is a little longer I wrap it after I wash it and it comes out with a slight curve. I'm experimenting with bantu knots but I think my hair is still a little too short without coming out out extremely curly. Bantu knots are my weekend experiment hair I wear around the house.
Ponytail(s). This summer I'm going to be in braids (whether they're extensions or my regular hair). It's too hot for me to wear my hair down anyway. Toodles
My most worn summer/warm weather hairdo is...(drum roll please)...the braidout!!!
It gives a nice carefree casual look that can be dressed up with a pretty scarf.

Your hair is definitely longer than mine, and I do braidouts often...I use the cornrow method because I like for my hair to be uniform from root to end. I put my hair in about 8 even sized cornrows and roll the end of the braid around the light grey perm rods. I have experimented with the products that give the most shine and moisture without leaving my hair greasy or heavy, after trial and error...I now set it with aloe vera gel and put a little oil in it before braiding. That way I don't need additional products in the morning. I usually do this at night with slightly damp hair (let it air dry for a while after doing my CO wash), wake up, undo the braids, wear a little scarf as a headband...result...beautiful heat free hair.
I do rollersets w/o any heat which takes all day to dry. The only way I can get it to look like I used heat is by using "Giovanni Direct leave in Conditioner" as a setting lotion and my once dry, coarse hair is like silk. When I get tired of the sets I do braidouts with the leave in.
Buns, every single day (being in the bun challenge). I wore a braid for the first time the day after my touch up on the 16th because I was so happy with my growth, I wanted to kind of show it. But now Im back to my buns
i wear a ponytail with the baggie. it's the best way that i know to keep my ends as moist as i like them to be. every now and then, i'll wear a braid out, or i'll wear it down if i get it done for a special occasion...
I've been pretty bad these days. Mostly straight styles but after my touch-up tomorrow morning I'll go back to Buns, French Twist & Flat-Twist Outs pinned up.
