The Best BAGGY CHALLENGE Ever 2010! Cycle Two (July - Dec)

juiced with scurl, aloe vera juice, and water spritz, and baggied up for the night....Baggied last night with the same, added activator gel n ecostyler this morning, and had moist hair all day.

Hey, I'm in, baggying is really helping me with much needed moisture :lick:

How many times a week will you be baggying? I haven't really decided on the exact frequency yet, I'll just do it as often as needed, ie, whenever my hair is feeling too dry
What moisturizers and/or oils will you be using? Care Free Curl Gold and a little olive oil
Will you be ponytail or whole head baggying? Whole head, my ponytails are too tiny :(

I'm in !!!

How many times a week will you be baggying? at least 3 days a week
What moisturizers and/or oils will you be using? VO5 conditioner as my moisturizer and Motions Natural Marula Oil mixed with JBCO
Will you be ponytail or whole head baggying? Whole head

I've been baggying now for about 2 months. The first month I moisturized/sealed and placed baggy on overnight and my hair was soggy by morning. Now that I've cut back on the amount of product I use and revised my process -- I moisturize, baggy for a few hours, then seal, my hair is no longer damp when I remove the baggy. Which is better or shows you're baggying the right way: damp hair or dry hair when the baggy is removed?

that's a really good question to which i don't have THE answer....i only know what works for me.

i know that if my hair is still as dry feeling as it was before the bag, i don't feel like it has gotten its moisture.
that happened once, then i found out i had been using a plastic cap with a hole in it, so the moisture just evaporated out.

i guess it also depends on how long you bag.
if i only bag for a few hours, who knows, my hair might feel pretty much the same, but that's not the case when i bag overnight (which is one of the reasons i do it overnight, too), because at night, we naturally perspire, so all i know is i better have damp hair in the morning, if i did it right!

p.s. if it's mushy feeling, you might want to up your protein. but very carefully, as to not overdo it.
that's what i did when i felt it getting mushy.
now i have hair that feels like damp silk steel in the morning!:yep:

I'm not mushy but thanks for the tip. I know that poking holes help relieve the dampness as well but think my plastic cap is good to go.

Somewhere I read (think it was hairlista's website) to moisturize, baggy for a few hours, then seal to avoid dampness. She indicates this method will make the hair feel moisturized but not damp. I'm only about 1 week post so naturally, my hair feels silky soft anyway. I'll keep testing out this new method to see if I like it.

I've also found a new technique to moisturize/sealing. I'm following chicoro's method of moisturize/sealing and my hair is really responding nicely to this: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=343511

If I overnight whole head baggy -- I'm sure to be damp :yep: but oddly enough, I don't like that feeling as I've not yet mastered how to style with damp hair. I've overnighted baggyed the ends only and can work with that come morning, just not whole head.

On the fence about baggying with Sta Sof Fro. Hair is a little dry today so I think I'll probably go back to my usual of baggying with Worlds of Curls, no castor oil.:ohwell:

Question ladies - please help!! I am newbbie I had apl hair which is no sl due to breakage so I've decided to start over and take care of my hair.

I baggy once a week - before lhcf I used Nairobi oil but have now transitioned to coconut or amla. I came to the salon to get a wash/dc/rollerset. (haven't started doing my hair at home yet) ok so today I was told by the owner of the salon if I baggy weekly with coconut oil my hair will break off because of to much protein. :-/

Please tell me if this is true because I would hate another set back!

HELPPPPPP!

Hopefully someone can answer this for you. I don't like to baggy with coconut oil because it leaves my hair feeling a little "crispy" and dry.

not that i can answer the question for OP, but i have read reports where people have said coconut oil has something that acts like a protein in it.

you can try using the coconut oil during the day and then at night bag with evoo. coconut oil is too good to give up altogether!

Been baggying consistently about 5 nights a week. It really helps because I am combatting dryness and I think it is the sulfur I'm using. I may do a month on and a month off with sulfur or cut back IDK at this point. Still thinking about it.

Baggied today with WOC moisturizer spray and Haitian Black Castor oil.:yep:

I think this is a keeper for me.:yep: I was planning to add Surge 14 along with the WOC but I'm planning to start using Megatek again. Surge and Megatek may end up being too much protein.

i'm sitting under my bag as i type.

when i go out later on today, i plan to baggy bun, then bag it right back up for the night!

I baggy two different ways: method 1 -- moisturize, baggy overnight, and seal in the morning; method 2 - moisturize, seal and then baggy overnight. Of the two methods, I think I like method 1 the best. I learned this method from Hairlista. I find that my hair is really moisturized by morning and not weighted down by oil.

I'm not set on any one combination of prods just yet (b/c I'm a newbie and still tweaking). Currently I'm using -- WN, Elasta QP Mango Butter or HE LTR split end protector and seal with oil. I know it sounds like a lot but I only use a very, very small amount of mango butter, LTR and oil. This M&S process somewhat follows Chicoro's method.

I’m in!
  1. How many times a week will you be baggying? I will be baggying nightly
  2. What moisturizers and/or oils will you be using? Vo5 Moisture Milks and EVOO
  3. Will you be ponytail or whole head baggying? Whole head

did my wet baggy bun today and am getting ready to whole head bag (after my treatments) tonight!

My baggying is going well except for I didn't use any Aphogee 2min during my last wash and I'm paying for it. I'm getting a little breakage. I guess too much moisture and no protein to balance it out. Normally I use my Aphogee 2min on a weekly basis and all is well and no breakage. I was pressed for time last time I washed and skipped the protein. I will consider it a lesson learn! I will make time for the protein when nightly baggying.

ETA: In another thread I was complaining that my hair dries out tremendously throughout the day to the point where my hair is dry and thirsty and someone stated when the plastic cap is removed, the moisture inside your hair strands equalizes with the moisture in the air and that's why hair tends to be drier in the winter....well of course it's not winter now, so why would I be experiencing this level of dryness?

OK so baggying is like second nature 2 me now! My ends LOOOVE the moisture, :Copy of 2cool: how did I ever live without it?

Still baggying about 5 nights a week. I always switch it up but try to use the same moisturizer for a week before switching it up to make sure each and everyone works the way I need it to.

I'm interested (even though I'm late). I baggy almost every night anyway!

How many times a week will you be baggying? 6 days
What moisturizers and/or oils will you be using? Olive oil, castor oil and Scurl
Will you be ponytail or whole head baggying? Whole head

full head no pony
using qhemet amla and olive oil, s-curl or jbco:brainy::brainy::brainy:

This challenge is really helping me with my stretch. This is honestly the first time I've been able to go over three months without a relaxer.
