THE 2011 BATTLE OF THE FLAT IRONS :-)

The irons I've tried:
------------------------------------------------
Gold N Hot (dont remember the model)
FHI Technique
FHI Platform
H2Pro 206/204 LE
Izunami 1" flat iron (I wanna try the Nick Arrojo model)
Joico Reconstrx flat iron
I've gone through many and these are the ones that I liked the most:

(In no particular order)

H2PRO 206 LE (FHI Runway dupe)-- great 100% ceramic flat iron; my hair was soft and flowy, moisturized and straight. It may have been my technique (or being lazy) but there were (very few) times it snagged my hair.

Izunami 1" flat iron-- great flat iron-- not 100% ceramic, but my hair still manages to feel SO good when I use this (this is what I've been currently using). Doesn't snag or burn my hair; as long as I DC well my hair feels moisturized afterwards, and it is silky straight and shiny like a fresh relaxer.

**Deserves a mention: Joico Reconstrx-- it's a nice iron that made my hair feel and look a lot thicker and shinier; however, my hair was shorter at the time and the plates were too big/didn't get as close to the roots as I wanted it to get.

FHI Platform-- made my hair very straight and got close to the roots but my hair felt kinda dry after using it.

Flat Irons I owned(or own)
Scale Rating(1-5; 1 being terrible 5 being awesome)

1.Hana Elite--Rating=4
It was the most expensive of my flat irons for sure(thank god it was a gift). It does an excellent job straightening my hair and it was the first iron I used as a natural. At $250, it needs to be ALL that and a COKE. I haven't used it enough to be totally sold(twice) but it was very effective at straightening my hair.

2. Hana Pro--Rating=3.5
I got this for free when missiko sent me the wrong iron. This is a really solid iron; not too hot, lightweight and easy to keep clean. I don't have any issues with it; it is slightly less preferred to the Rusk STR8 flat iron.

3. Sedu Original Rating=5
--purchased in 2005, still going strong. Love it. Best flat iron for my hair texture(relaxed especially). I haven't used it enough as a natural to give it a fair rating for unprocessed afro hair; but when I was relaxed, the Sedu got me thru many a stretching.

4. Wigo Rating=2
The red coating starting peeling after a few uses.

5. Rusk STR8 Rating=4
Great price; awesome results. I got this from TJ Maxx for $25, and it is almost as good as the sedu. I have to be careful, cuz I experienced slight heat damage on my sides from using it too much(I was loving how soft and silky my hair felt).

6.GVP Rating=3
I liked the lilac color; but it wasn't worth $59 at all. I don't use it often; I am afraid the coating will start peeling so I use it sparingly. Eh...It is effective and readily available at any Sallys(no need to order it online or have it shipped) so that works in its favor and I am sure contributes to its popularity.

HAI Titanium Convertable - smooth, silky results, swang, no snagging; bone comb, two croc clips and a thermal case included for $80 -- a real keeper:infatuated:

Hana Elite - Quality construction/material, heats up super fast, made my hair feel dry/stiff afterward; don't get me wrong this is an excellent flat iron I just feel for the $$$ I got better results with the HAI -- I will be returning BOTH Elites tomorrow :nono:

P.S. The Hana Thermal Shine Shield worked well with the HAI iron, left my hair with that soft silky feel. I highly recommend it. :yep:

I got mine from folica.com for $80. Right now they have a sale, 20% off orders over $65, 25% off over $100 and 30% off over $150. The HAI Titanium cost $99 so it be a pretty good deal to pick one up now. :wink2:

Girl thanks! My ceramic HAI was $100-no case, no combs-just the box it came in. I am going to order right now!

The Sedu flat iron is excellent, but my HANA Professional is out of this world!
The Joico steam iron gives me a salon look, but only on freshly relaxed hair.

For the budget conscious, the Remington Teflon is a good one, if they still make it.

Yep, I own all of these and a couple more. :look:
