THE 2011 BATTLE OF THE FLAT IRONS :-)

I use the Sedu the 1 1/2 size, I bought it at Ulta for $120.00 3 years ago.... and I don't see any need to use anything else, it is the best flat iron to me. I use it at 320 degrees. My sister got the Sedu revolution 1 inch for Xmas. It straightens really well, but I kept burning my scalp because I'm not use to the smaller plates..... But as far as a really silky finish that makes it look like you got Japanese weave hair, the Sedu is the way to go.

carnivalapple[/USER] ;12891837]Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium 1" . Love it sooooo much, but haven't used it lately because I put myself on a time out from heat. =/
staring at this now:look: how much was it back then?

i like my rusk tourmaline+ionic iron. i dont think another iron would do a better job. i do like my andis high heat pressing comb a little more.

although my technique suks....iLUV my HairArt h3000 ceramic/tourmaline flat iron. i pretty much like it better than my fhi platform and the sedu ireturned. for me, @ $60-$80 it performs just as well as the $150-300 irons. iencourage ya'll looking for an iron to try it (from folica.com or something) and then return it if you don't like it...but iwas impressed.

I bought a Remington Shine Therapy Conditioning Flat Iron and I am in love. My hair is sooo shiny and silky smooth. I love it!

↑ Trying this taught me how irrelevant thee price tag can be sometimes. Liked it a lot.

Maxiglide remains the undefeated champ. There's always room for a new challenger though, so I'm diggin this thread.

I loved my Maxiglide, but when it died I was forced to buy another flat iron. IMO, the Maxiglide is still the best at STRAIGHTENING but I have to go with my Remington for silkiness, smoothness, and swang!

I got the ghd professional 1" on Friday, so far so good. Sitting under the Pibbs right now, I'll flat iron roots only as usual when I'm done. The plates come reaaallly close to the scalp. :)

off topic, but what do you notice is a major difference with your pibb than other dryers???

sturdiness is one thing, it's not flimsy like the hot tools hooded dryer on wheels I had (the purple one). My hair dries much faster, but I still haven't shaken the habit of being under the dryer for 60 minutes, although my hair is dry before that. That I'm able to slect the temperature, that's a big plus for me. And above all, the fact that I rollerset once or twice a week and wanted the best dryer available for that purpose and that will last me (hopefully) a long time.

In fact, I'm rethinking returning my ghd to sephora,as I've been rollersetting for so long that I don't know whether to return the ghd and get myself a Pibbs turbo dryer and blow dry roots only.

luv my $20 one inch conair flatiron..its still rocking lol
i do have the original maxiglide which is too heavy--bought it when it first came out and i have an instyler that i only use on fake hair...

Hana Elite 1in:
Best flat iron I've ever owned w/ the best results. My hair was shiny, soft, and felt conditioned afterwards and held in moisture. I do oil rinses and they work well w/this iron

Chi 1 in (original?):
2nd best. Dried my hair out, rough/sticky plates-- developed "hot spots" quickly, didn't get hair very straight; no heat dial = not good

Sallys GVP 1in:
supposed to be similar to CHI/FHI, achieved blow out type results. No heat dial (I think-haven't seen it in so long), didn't get hot enough

Maxiglide 1.5in:
least favorite flat iron. It was too bulky-heavy, smelled weird-- burning chemical type smell, plates not very smooth, didn't get hair straight, when used pins- pulled hair out; hotspots- sticks to hair

I just bought this today from Target. The color I have is diff from the pic. I like the way it looks. Can't wait to use it.
My maxiglide dries my hair out too bad. And my FHI technique is not effective at all.

Sade' ooh! maybe will shell out the money for one. i am much happier with my pressing comb than my flat iron at the moment. i wonder if it is the iron...

It's just what I was looking for. I used it on some old Extensions Plus hair that is extremely hard to straighten and it looked like silk when I was done. I used it on my bangs and it left a nice sheen. Very satisfied.

I just got the InStyler and I LOVE it! My hair was shinier staighter and had movement- salon results!
As for the Maxiglide, it made my hair straight but stiff. Plus it's too bulky. I'm going to get rid of it and get another InStyler.

There's a discount almost everyday. It's only about $25-30, but still...

I have a Hana Elite 1'' - I like it. I think I wish it was a little bit heavier, don't ask me why. But it does get my hair straight in 1 pass at 370, which no other iron, besides the Runway, which my stylist uses.

Solia 1.5'' - I really like this iron. Although it's way too big for me to flat iron my hair straight the way I like, I still like it for curling.

Chi 1'' - I've had this iron for 10 years. It's ok, but it definitely doesn't get as hot as the other irons. 370 on this iron is nowhere near the results of 370 on the Hana or Solia :nono:.

ETA: For the Hana from Misikko, the most current code is BLOWOUT25 for $25 off anything over $118.

I have the Hana Elite. Its a good iron and it gets my hair straight and smooth.

Still haven't been able to master a successful bouncy shiny soft salon flat iron tho. It is probably just my technique. maybe I need to use less heat or better products or something. It gets straight but won't have any elasticity and will be kind of dry.

My salon uses FHI platform and runway.

Love my Chi! I had a MaxiGlide and GVP Iron from Sallys in the past. Nothing gets my hair as straight and smooth as the Chi.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my IZUNAMI 450!!!!!:love2:

I had an adjustable temp Conair, and the back half of my hair reverted before I could finish my top half :nono:.

Then I got a CHI, which didn't have a temp gauge. It was one of the smaller ones, not a full-length one, but I don't remember which one. Sorry.

Then, after reading Lucky'sMom's extensive reviews of flat irons, I broke down and bought an FHI Runway. It is excellent, wonderific, marvelous, gloriousness for my hair. My hair needs high heat to get and keep it straight, so I often use it on 425 degrees :look:. I do one full pass, and a second pass on the ends (it makes the SSKs not feel so bad). I keep it for one week, but it could probably last a second one if I decided to do it.
