THANK you LHCF Sistas! Finally think I see some progress!

I've been on LHCF since last year, but was trying to do too much at one time. I've since gone simple and stopped trying to transition (wasn't working for me). I have learned that I can have healthy hair with a relaxer and I CAN grow past shoulder length. :D

Here are some comparisons:

1) Sept. 9, 2006 just after a shampoo and flat iron at the salon (5wks after relaxer)

2) TODAY... Just got my touch up after 8.5 wks. I got my touch up 1.5 weeks early because I have to attend a wedding tomorrow.

LEFT side is healthier and longer than RIGHT side (working on it).

I know my ends are not even, but I'm waiting for about 3-4 more inches before I even things out. Until then, I'm bunning and protective styling through the winter and having my mom do dustings for me every 2-3 months. I'm also employing the search and destroy method that some of the ladies suggested :).

I have normally thick hair, so my uneven ends bother me a bit, but I know the uneven-ness doesn't matter while I'm bunning. As long as there are no splits.:)

THANKS LHCF Ladies. :D

Your hair looks so healthy, congrats!!!!

ETA: I just looked at the dates, and WHOA! Your hair grew super-fast!

Thanks Girl! I was starting to get depressed a bit because I wasn't noticing any progress. I've been bunning it pretty much since the beginning of Sept. Oh, I'm also using MTG and some Hair Nail and Skin Vitamin in addition to my multi vitamin. I'm going to back to the bunning on Sunday after the wedding and back to my MTG (once a week).

I only shampoo once a week and DC then too. I find for me less is more.

That is a lot of progress. It looks so healthy. Are you my hair twin- one side of my hair is healthier than the other. Anyway, continue growing sista!

Thank y'all! I now have hope and am officially a believer in protective stlying :-)

The scientist in me would like to do an experiment to test if the growth is thanks to
1)MTG
2)Hair Skin Nail Vitamin (3000mcg Biotin)
or
3) Protective styling.

I know it's a combination of all of the above, but one day, I'll test the variables one at a time for a month each. Not interested in change a thing right now ;)

LOL! I probably am your hair twin. :)
Based on input here and input from my stylist, I think my uneven/shorter right side may be attributed to my wrapping technique and my short stints at the Dominican salon. Ladies here chimed in with the wrapping thing... I used to wrap only in one direction, but now I try not to wrap at all. Tonight will be an exception because I don't use heat at home and have to have straight hair at the wedding tomorrow.

And my traditional stylist seems to think the extreme heat from a DBO was not the best thing for my already fragile right side. But, she did note that my right side has ALWAYS grown slower than my left. Hence the reason my hair was never growing much past SL; she was always in the habit of "evening" up my right to match the left. I told her that we won't be evening up until my Left side is at least APL and she is cool with it. :)

Wow, your hair grows very quickly in one month. Keep on doing your thing and you'll be able to reach your goal of healthy hair and be relaxed.

I'm so jealous that you can go a week without washing! My hair itches like crazy on the third day.

Girl, I guess I don't have issues since I just bun. I find when I shampoo or wet my hair too often, I lose more strands. The less manipulation altogether works best for me. I tried the CW and every other day washes when I 1st came to LHCF, but it was not the groove for me. I guess we all have different ways of acheiving the same goal :)

Nice progress and the t-shirt is cool too. I might have to make me one of those.

Thanks Sareca! I did my ghetto shirt after seeing DSD's shirts. I basically just measured in 1" increments from the and marked it out. Of course the numbers don't really show what my total or actual length is in inches, but it does show me in numerical values where I've been and where I'd like to be.

My Spring target is between 8-9 and my total goal used to be 10 (BSL), but I'm going to add to the shirt when I reach 8-9 :)

 Seriously, that is awesome! Your hair grew fast as he**! I'm sooo trippin. Keep it up girl!

YOur shorter side looks like it grew more than the longer side, it should catch up quickly. I think it looks great, HHG!!:D

Wow FAMU, u got some excellent growth going on. you hair looks so very healthy and lush. I agree that evening up your hair is not necessary since you don't wear it down. So keep it up and i'm sure you will be at APL and BSL in no time. Shoot i wish my hair grew as fast as yours...I'm too vain to wear protective styles so i'm sure i dont retain as much length as i should not to mention the fact that my hair grows slow. but keep it up girlie...

Thanks Girl! I've resorted to just MTGing the right side.:look: I just started that about 2 weeks ago, so I'm gonna keep MTGing the right side and see if I can make something happen. I'll keep y'all posted.

LOL! I was too vain for the first 9months on LHCF, plus I was trying to learn the tricks to transitioning. It just clicked with me in Sept, that I want long hair really bad right now, so I'll try my best to do what it takes. I basically set a short term goal through December for protective styling since I don't know if I could do it forever. I'm hoping it gets be from SL to APL at least. :)

You're hair is growing at such a rapid speed. it looks great!!

I'm glad to see though that there's someone else with one side growing slower than the next. i refuse to cut it until i get to a little past shoulders maybe even apl then I'll even it.

Keep up the good work!!!!

Pictures don't lie - Congrats:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: My right side is thicker and longer than my left, but I sleep on my left side and watch TV laying on my left side. Your hair looks good and since it's healthy you can even it up any old time!!!!

I feel ya girl! I'm the same way! Everytime I visit my stylist, I let her know that I don't want to even it up. I told her today that I'll look at evening when I'm past APL. She's so cool and helpful, that she's like that's fine :)

Girl, I watch TV laying on my right side and tend to sleep on my right side. You may be on to something. My momma just told me last night that I may need to switch up which side I sleep on. I don't know how I can do that, since I don't purposely choose a side to sleep on, it's habit.
