Terms/Techniques that Stylists Use

What are the correct terms to use when explaining how you want your hair cut to a stylist?

I plan on saying things like "make this section my longest layer" "cut it up to here where it thins out" "slightly layer it all the way around" "tapered a bit from back to front"

I am going for a slightly layered style (straightened) that would look pretty similar to the picture ayanapooh has in her hair album. (ayana - please let me know if you mind me posting this here.)ayanapooh's hair

I've got 3 hours for responses!!

I think a black and white might work fine. It's really the shape you want her/him to see...

I would tell them you want to cut off your processed hair and end up with long layers - along with the othee phrases you used.

I hope this reaches you in time.

I also recommend taking as many pictures that you can. Even in black and white, they can figure out what you want. So I'd take Ayanapooh's pic and the one from Curve (if you can print it) to take along with you.

Good luck!
