Super Grow Out Challenge begins 1/1/05

This is EXACTLY what I am doing.
I wish the local beauty school only charged $15. They charge $35, so I have to braid myself.

Here is my tried and true method of getting my hair braided on the cheap.
1.call the schools (you already did this hey do you have more than 1in the area?)
2. ok you did #1 but if you want to be slick pay the $35 then collect numbers and tell them you will pay them $x directly if they do your hair away from the school
3. go to the beauty supply!!! many times if it isn't family owned the people working there will be very interested in hair themselves or cosmo students, either way most of the time they know how to braid (most of the AA's i've run into do) most of the time i have been quoted $20 from people that work at various beauty supplies. Also many times hair braiders come into the beauty supply and leave cards as a way of generating business.
4. when you see a young girl with cornrows ask who did it. alot of these young girls have their friends braid their hair.
4b. ASK ANYONE YOU SEE WITH CORNROWS. guys usually have round the way braiders.

hope this helps
PS the only problem i have had with round the way
braiders is getting our schedules together

Im interested in joining. my hair is a little past bra clasp when stretched. my goal is waist. pics are in the album.

I'm excited! My current length is approx 17.5" measured from hairline to ends. My goal is 20" by summer. When I get there, I'll reset my goal length (baby steps). Old pics are in album, I'll try to update soon.

What are the specifics of the challenge because I would like to join as well. :)
Rules:

Develop a routine and stick with it. If you already have one you are good to go.;)

You must be patient and consistent.:)

You may do whatever it takes to get your hair where you want it to be. That can be a new vitamin regemin, Surging, no trimming etc. Just stay consistent.

Take before pictures if you can. You may also measure. I like pictures best because the pictures tell you things measuring can't!

I will make a monthly post to help us keep track of our progress. This will be for motivational purposes also.

Okay ladies this isn't a recent picture of my hair; it's a picture of my hair a month and a half ago after I cut 2-3 inches off and it's closest to the length I have now.

I plan to update my progress every other month or when I experience any substantial amount of growth. I hope to retain whatever length I receive since I am practicing the baggie method and am on a braid challenge. Wish me luck! :weird:

On your marks, get ready....LET'S GROW!!! :antlers:

Hey count me in DSD! I'm not sure what my length is now since I've been wearing braids. After I cut my hair before braiding, it was between collar bone and shoulder length. That was two months ago.

Count me in!

I will be doing the three month vitamin challenge.

I will also go to the Dominicans for a weekly wash using:
Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo
Alternate with Keracare Humecto, GPB, Stretch and Humecto again
Leave-in with Salerm
Roller-sets

I will also put in braids for four weeks spraying surge every day.

Thanks for the rules DSD! It is SO HARD to measure my hair because the length varies (layered w/c shaping in front) and my roller wraps flip all over the place. So I've decided to measure wet from here on out. In the pic I took this evening I had to brush and almost hold the back down (my longest portion) so it would lie flat for my pic.

MY REGIMEN
Winter: Shampoo, deep condition, hot oil every 7-14 days

Summer:
Shampoo, deep condition, hot oil every 2-7 days

Vits, Heat, Protein:
Biotin & Capilong - Daily
Affirm 5 in 1 - Monthly
Direct heat (blow dryer/flat iron) - limited to once a month
Trim as needed
Relax every 10-12 weeks

I had to brush my hair so it would lie flat. My roller wrap flips and curls everywhere!

1. Wash once a week, deep condition, roller set under hooded dryer, wrap or bun
2. Oil ends with Shea butter oil, cocoa butter oil, WGO and Keracare essential oils every other day
3. Grease scalp once a week with At One w/Nature super gro hair & scalp conditioner
4. Tie hair up every night before bed
5. Drink at least 48oz water daily
6. Take vitamins daily(GNC Ultranourish hair, One-a-day women)

I am definately in. I have natural hair, and my length is about 2 or 3 inches past my shoulders. I will post a pic as soon as possible. Happy growing everyone!!!

Spring:
I will have twist in my hair until May.

I measure at the 1 on your hair picture, so tell what that is.

Starting Point: approaching shoulder length.
Next Stop: Shoulder Blade/Arm Pits

Have you been drinking your water???

I'm off to a good start! My hair is freshly washed, and I used my Surge along with my homemade Sulfur 8/Glovers/Surge cream. My head feels tingly...I'll be posting starting pics in my album later today, and updating progress every month :)

Hugs,
Crys

Ladies, glad to have each and everyone of you!! Everyone seems to be off to a great start. By this time nest year our hair is going to be longer and stronger.

I'd like to join this challenge ladies! Please count me in. I got a small trim on Jan. 21st and I'm ready to grow. My length is below bra strap.

Hi. I'm a little late responding. I would like to join the challenge too. I'm really not too sure how long my hair truly is.... I haven't worn it down straight in several years. I usually wear it up in protective styles. I trim when i think my ends look fuzzy. I get it washed and done every 2 weeks. Some people wash theirs more frequently but my hair is quite healthy and always has been with only a few washings a month. I'm guessing my hair is brastrap or below... my regimen is simple: Trim and see a professional every 2 weeks. :)

I trimmed my hair so I'll say I have 3 inches stretched. I don't plan on doing anymore trims since I don't use heat or comb my hair too often.

BTW, Im in.

ok, girls....sherrylove is down for the challenge, since i do not intend to cut my hair this year....LOL...I AM IN ... my second pic is my starting point.....

Happy new year!!!!!!!!!

Count me in ... I'm at shoulder length now....

I'm air drying only and doing co washes

everyday,
washing with shampoo once a week and also doing braidouts..
