Summer Challenge Bi weekly Check #3

Hey everyone! it's that time again. Share your progress with the challenge. Here's mine:

I am starting june off by recommitting to the challenge. I haven't slacked off but I am getting discouraged! My hair is growing sooo slow! I think I am going to shift around my vitamins and see what happens. I am still suffering with shedding but it has decreased alot thanks to my new regimen. I think that the products I am using is pretty effective so I am maintainin all my length I just need to work on increasing my growth. How I do it i don't know but I am determined to find out how.

I was bummed out for a while because I realized my hair only grows 1/4 of an inch a month rather than the 1/2 inch I always thought I got. I only had about 1/2- 3/4 inch of new growth after 7 weeks in braids. Talk about SLOW! I cheated on the PJ 30 day challenge and bought Hairtopia to speed things up a bit. It usually takes Viviscal a while to kick in and I don't have any time to waste. I got my hair rebraided on the 30th of May. As I posted earlier I think the Hairtopia is kicking in already. I am hoping for an inch but if my hair only grows 1/4 inch a month then the most I can realistically expect is 3/4 of an inch. How discouraging!

It is going to take me forever to grow out this stupid haircut! I am pushing my hair goal date back. There is no way I can reach shoulder length by December at this rate!

My progress is steady. No set backs.

VITAMINS
I have slacked off of my vitamins some... I've reduced down to every other day this way I can take them more consistenly. (this is really a shame cuz I only 2...Flintstone's chewable & biotin
laugh.gif
)

GROWTH & HEALTH
My growth has accelerated due to the vitamins. Before the vits I was avg .86" per mth, so hopefully now with vits I should be at 1" per mth. I'm really excited cuz I think that I met my 1" for May. I'm not going to measure until after I touch up on Sept 1 (that'll be 4.5 mths)....I don't know if I can hold out that long, granted that my growth has accelerated... we'll see
smile.gif
. Another thing, I have been wearing my hair wavy or curly ever since my last touch up (6 wks ago), so I can't really see my "true length" (without stretching it of course). Overall health is excellnt... no breakage nor visible splits
clap.gif
.

REGIME
My regime has remained the same since CHECK # 2 (poo & braids / twists to air dry). Right now I'm wearing my first "bantu - out"
laugh.gif
(if I had to give it a name). It turned out wonderful
smile.gif
. So now I have a new "drying method & style" to add to my regime.

PRODUCTS
I've purchased 2 new products... 1) Wonder 8 Oil, & VO5 Cucumber & Melon Conditioner. Wonder 8 Oil is great. I plan to alternate that with Hot 6 Oil (when I need a lighter oil). I'm about to do a conditioner wash shortly so that I can try out my new conditioner

This was a good 2 wk check... absolutely no complaints

hey honeyrockette-- which hairtopia did you get? I went to hairboutique.com and I noticed that they have 2 viviscal/ hairtopia kits and im trying to figure out which one i want

Well, this is my update.
I have been pretty consistent with the vitamins, but I have been getting frustrated and tired of doing my hair. I went to the hair dresser last week, but I cringed everytime she hacked through my hair with the comb. This actually motivated me to do my hair because no one can be as gentle as I can be to my OWN hair. I will not go back to the hairdresser until touch up time now.

On a brighter note, I haven't lost any length and my hair has grown almost an inch I think in some places.

I haven't been wearing a whole lot of protective styles, but I have been moisturizing like crazy and the thickness of my hair looks great! Hopefully by our next check I will have another 1/2 inch!!!

I hope everything is going well for everyone else as well!!

This daily rinsing is KEY for me. I'm off to a great start for the summer and wholeheartedly expect my four inches by the end of summer. My hair is rarely ever completely dry since I rinse and/or conditioner/shampoo wash every single day, spray with s-curl, add some oil/grease to the ends and put in in a bun. That's all I do and it's working like a charm. I love wetting my hair daily and my hair likes it too. I believe I've gotten nearly an inch this month...

My hair is really growing and is very healthy. I am faithfully taking my vitamins, washing or rinsing daily, air drying, and always wearing protective styles. I have learned so much from all of you and my hair thanks you all so much!!!!!!!!!
grin.gif

I braided my hair two weeks ago and right now it is about an inch long already. Wohoooo
bouncy.gif

I first noticed the growth in my nails and then later on my hair. I'm now a retired nail biter. To those of you who are not experiencing super growth right now, keep popping those vitamins. Don't give up.

Hey lunalight
wave.gif

I'm 4b (some 3c) & at the bottom of bra strap... that reminds me, I need to update my signature....

As for the bantu-out, Zanna & Allandra are the pro's
laugh.gif
. My first attempt was very "rusty"... it was a mess, but the style turned out pretty good considering. Basically I did my poo, etc. then made 5 bantu knots, & let air dry.

.

i will admit that i have slacked off on water viatmin intake. but i did get my hair braided thursday, so i won't touch it. it's in cornrows. i'm looking for a braid spray so that my hair can stay moisurized.

I gained another inch since the end of April....3 more to go. I'm back to my basic products and routines...except for one channge. I used distilled water for everything...not just my rinse.

I'm not really sure how much growth I've gotten. I have a weave in right now and it's not comming out until next week sometime. My regime consists of no poo washes 2x a week. I have been slacking off on the vits (trying to get back on track now
smile.gif
) S-curl is my best friend!!

So far so good. It's been a month since my last touchup and my hair seems to be doing well. I'm still only washing weekly, and I've done twist-outs and air-drying in ponytail method for two weeks straight so far. I can't use my hair dryer for awhile since I'm recuperating from my LASIK surgery; I don't want all that air blowing into my eyes
crazy.gif
...

I got my hair trimmed at last touch up but I trimmed them again myself a week ago cuz I noticed my ends looked scraggly as I was twisting up my hair for my twist-out!! I don't think that it set me back any though... I just did the sections that looked uneven, and I didn't take off much. I didn't touch the back at all.

Here's what I've experienced since doing this challenge. I've been taking vitamins, MSM, brewer's yeast, B12, calcium, and flax oil capsules on a daily basis. I took down my cornrows to have them rebraided late in May. My hair is growing a little at a time because of my regime. I don't measure my hair, but I know when combing, it's growing towards my collarbone and my upper back.

I'm going to add some biotin, amino acid, B5 and protein powder to my routine. I'll continue to wear my cornrows for one more month, still do conditioner washes 3x a week, with a light shampooing once a week as well. I'll even alternate Proclaim 7 oil wonder with my homemade hair growth oil in between to get even more results. My goal is to have my hair down the middle of my back before the fall season. Wish me luck on my journey.

I haven't been seeing the kind of growth I'd hoped for either but my hair looks great, feels healthy, shiny, bouncy, etc. so I can't complain. I've finally experienced the joys of a decent twist-out so I'll alternate this style with the d/s ponytail, bun, french roll and other protective styles through the summer.

I'm still taking a multi and GNC UNH and I've seen great results in my nails and skin but not much hair growth.

I haven't changed any of my core products and I've stopped heat styling altogether. Except for the occasional time when I'll wear my hair straight, this should be my routine for the rest of the summer.

I'm pretty new to the board as you can see. I have started my challenge May 19th. I plan to go 10-12 weeks between relaxers and to get them professionally done so it won't be overprocessed. I currently just finished my 8th week Sat. I can't really tell how much growth I have gained since I just started to measure my hair. Current length is about 12 inches on the sides, 10 inches midback, 8-9 inches in front. GOAL by end of summer: bra strap, thicker hair, strengthen hair to retain length ... I'm not sure how many more inches I have to go.

PRODUCTS:
I plan to shampoo and deep condition (40-60 min) with creme nature shampoo/lekair conditioner at least once a week. Do a condition only wash 4-5 times a week along with an infusium 23 leave-in conditioner. I bought some wild hair growth oil and plan to use that 1-3 times a week on my scalp and in my hair. I also bought some S-curl activator, I'm still getting used to that. I'm not sure how much to use or to either put it on my dry hair or wet hair. I'm still experimenting with both. Next new product I bought was profectiv mega growth which I put on my hair and ends morning and night. I've been using jojoba oil sparingly but I will be putting in my hair and on my ends more along with some Ulta Sheen Hair food (grease). That's about it for the products that I'm using.

HAIR STYLES:
I have been braiding my hair into multiple braids then twisting into bantu knots, doing single braids, buns, pulling hair up into a clip. I braided my hair sat after I shampooed my hair in single braids then on monday took out the braids and my hair looks great (sort of wavy/crimped) Its a KEEPER. These are all styles I plan on using throughout the summer, but I mostly want to try to do the single braids and braided bantu knots.

VITAMINS:
Nature's Bounty Skin, Hair, Nails
B-complex
MSM with Glucosamine Complex

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I guess I'm doing ok. Started off with the daily rinses but slacked off. Right away I noticed my hair was much drier so I've gone back to rinses. Also, got a trim a few weeks ago. My hair is a lot easier to comb now. Last week I gave myself a touch up with Motions Lye. Goodness! It burned like the dickens. But my hair is ok. I finally found a "phonytail" that matches my hair color. I've used it religiously! The added moisture, lack of heat, and protective styles has made my hair feel thicker. I'll make my summer deadline as long as I stay away from curling and flat irons. In the past those devices have caused my ends to thin.

Luv, I bought my Viviscal and Hairtopia separately. I had already bought my entire six month's supply of Viviscal when I decided to buy Hairtopia. Since it is my first time using Hairtopia, I only bought the 30 day supply. If I get the results I want, I will just go ahead and buy a six month's supply of Hairtopia and when it is time to restock, purchase them together from Hairboutique.

I dont know how well I am doing since I just got out of braids and got a touchup that was underprocessed. also i dont know how well my vitamins are working because of this. i take 5mg of biotin which i may up to 8mg in june. i will switch to freeda brand also. not because i dont like puritan pride but i just want to compare the two. i just started on twinlab b5 so its too early to tell. then i will add a multivitamin (flintstones lol) and thats it. i will taking the ultra hair thick shake and that will be it for me. i hope my september i have something to sing about. once i get this underprocessed hair under control i will resume to daily spritzing. God bless you all.

My challenge isn't going well either. Does anyone know where the original thread was where I swore I would do X, Y and Z?

My hari seems a bit dry and just a little not itself and I wonder what's wrong!
frown.gif
I hope I can't figure it out. I also don't remember what my "must dos" were.

I may just need a touch up. I sometimes get that "not-so-tight" feeling about my hair right before I really need a retouch. No matter what it's just looks a little nuts. In fact that ONLY time it doesn't is when it's curly these days!

frown.gif
I'm getting sad...

Luvhair, i think it is awesome that you are making sure we stick to this challenge by doing the updates biweekly.

My challenge is still doing well. The only thing that changed in my regimen, was deep conditioning with Mizani Moisturefuse last week. (I ran out of Keracare Humecto, went to JCPenny and they didn't have any either, AS IF!!) And I also bought some Biosilk (the oil). I am sticking to my rollersets for the summer. My water intake is great.

I REALLY NEED TO BE CONSISTENT WITH MY VITAMINS AND EXERCISING!!!!

Happy hair growing everyone.

I'm still in. I'm still not exercising like I said I would. I'm keeping up with my hair care regimen, vit and h2o. But the diet was pretty bad last week. I'm tried of taking vitamins. I believe after I use up my supply, I'll be cutting out some.

My challenge is going good. I've been keeping things REAL simple. I rinse daily or every other day sometimes, apply coconut oil, smooth intense serum, ponytail and go. I've been exercising about 5 times per week and drinking more water. On average for the last 3 weeks I have been skipping 1 or 2 days here and there with the vitamins, I'm due for a touch-up next week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed to get there.

I seem to be making progress as well. I've had braids since April ending and I have about 1 inch on new growth in most places and about 3/4 in other places. I'm hanging tough with the vitamin routin and I've been drinking my protein every day. I just started doing the daily conditioner washes in addition to my weekly shampoo.

You girls are the bestest - I swear - like four people sent me this regime! Thanks guys!
grin.gif

Ok here's what I said I'd do...

I agree Lindy - I'm doing this challenge too and my pic is already in the gallery. I'll start from there since I'll pretty muchbe doing for the summer what I've been doing sicne I colored my hair.

I'm going to wash with diluted shampoo every other day and wear my hair curly by applying moisturizers, leave ins and styling aids that add mositure. I'm not going to get a realxer until the beginning to the middle of June - which will make 10-12 weeks for me. At that time I'm also going to apply a fresh rinse.

I also need to take my vits consistently all summer - I want to Puritan's Pride Aminos to my vit list too. so for me it's frequent washing, infrequent chemical applications lots of moisture and little heat. And minimal manipulation as well. I plan to wear my hair up more often too.

Products will include:

Shampoo: Lanza PP, HE Color Protecting Shampoo and Fantasia Pure Tea (all diluted with water at a 4-1 ratio.

Conditioners: HE Intensive Blends, Mane N Tail, Pantene DMR regular and deep conditioner, and NACIDIT Olive Oil.

Leave Ins: V05 Fortifying Leave In, Motions Nourish Leave In and any of the above conditioners mixed with water.

This is exciting! It's neat because we're all doing it together!

Okay - I'm washing every day - not every other. My hair is really unruly and I have to wet it to get it to listen. Conditioner washes are going to have to be explored much more carefully - I tried one this AM with Pantene DMR and I think it went fine. Still diluting shampoo. STILL haven't added my vits - but have been drinking two of the Ultra Hair shakes a day.
smile.gif
WILL DIG OUT VITS TODAY> WILL TAKE THEM TODAY! DAMMIT! Ok then...

The products are basically the same except the Oliva SHampoo has basically replaced everything shampoowise for now and I suspect the Gary Null I'm picking up today will replace something as well. We shall see. I AM getting lots of growth...I just don't like the way my hair LOOKS.

I am seriously starting to get really bored with my hair. My hair is seriously underprocessed and I can barely do much with it the way I would like to. If my hair was short, I'd shave this stuff and start over. Until then, I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can get another perm. Hopefully, this stylist can fix this problem once for all. If not, I will wait, and then I will attempt to fix this problem once for all. If I can't fix it that final time, I shall jump off a bridge.

As for growth, my friend at church told me that my hair is growing, although I'm not seeing much growth at all. Goodness, I hope she's right.

Well, I've been following my routine but omitting the pre-wash hot oil treatment b/c I just can't find the time to fit it in b/c I am always rushing from one place to another
driver.gif
. I generally wash my hair twice a week (as opposed to the 3 times listed in my routine). Other than that, everything is the same.
I haven't been taking my vits lately but I'll start - yet again
violin.gif
- this weekend. On a good note, I lost 5 whole pounds so now I really think I'm cute.
rofl.gif
5 down, 55 more to go
laugh.gif
.
My touch-up is scheduled for June 14 with the lengendary Marcia

. Once that's been taken care of, I will get my pictures up ASAP.
