Suffering from hair anorexia...

Does anyone else feels like either
a) They've made no progress at all
b) Their progress sucks
c) BUH!!!

I just want to know... Is my progress decent? Am I just suffering from hair anorexia or do I have a reason to be all blah about my grass? I kinda feel like I haven't gone far at all. Two setbacks during this past year had alot to do with the way I feel.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Well, it IS sort of difficult to see the forest when you're standing amongst the trees, but it looks like you've gotten 4 to 5 inches of growth. If you've had some trims during the year, you've had even more than that. Looks like you need one of those "Progress Tees" from dontspeakdefeat like I do. :yep: Cut yourself some slack, sis! You're doing just fine!

There is drastic difference between your Dec '06 and Dec '07 pics. :yep: You are doing a great job with your hair!!

It'll get better as your hair gets longer. It actually doesn't look like much of a problem. But my plan is that when my hair gets longer, I'm going to cut a an inch or two off so that my hair can appear thicker, but that's only when I reach my hair goal. I'll be doing S&D until then.

I feel you on this! But it looks like u r doing well. Keep up the good work.
As for me, I slapped a weave up in mine because I don't want to watch my hair grow!

Your progress looks great to me. I think we all suffer from this 'disease' at some point in our journey. <I feel like my hair hasn't moved since the summer>. Just keep on doing what you're doing, and you'll reach your destination in no time! :yep:

How about with my last weave, I was in the restroom at work 5 or 6 times a day looking through the tracks as if my hair was growing like one of those playdough dolls you can cut the hair off? I finally gave up and had it taken out. Now I can sit at my desk and stare at my hand mirror and image it has grown in the 10 minutes that have gone by.

I suffer from this too. My hair can never be shiny, long or thick enough. When I look at pics from a yr ago, I honestly hardly see any progress, but dh stays talking about how long it's gotten and how pretty it is. I just don't see it :perplexed:

BTW, you've definately had some good growth!

Lol...yes, I still find a way to watch it grow...weave and all.
I have a mirror at my desk as well. I like to put a ruler to my ends and pin point were my next 6 inches will fall on my body....yeah I need to do some work @ work...lol

It has grown...so at least you know you retained some length. :woot:Celebrate that, 'cause before I found LHCF, I could not retain a lick of hair.

When you say "hair anorexia," are you referring to the thickness? That will come with time. Plus, you say you've had setbacks, so that answers some of your questions. A small percentage of women have amazing speed growth in short amounts of time, but a large majority are mainitaing a STEADY growth.

Once you lock in a solid regimen, with reliable products....you should see even more retention, thickness, and health in this new year to come.

Good luck and be patient!

That's really funny that you started this thread, I just wrote about it last week in my fotki journal. Even after I posted pics in the one year update forum and saw how much growth I had had, I was still upset that my hair wasn't as along as some other ppl's progress. That is wasn't thick like shiny and bouncy like carmelaka (i stalked your fotki at least 2x a day):look:. But then today I put on my homemade progress shirt and saw that I had hit my end of year goal I had set for myself and I was really plzed.... till I saw how chewed up my ends looked:nono:. I keep trying to tell myself though that its about the journey not the destination and the more I look at my progress pics, the more I begin to realize that I have made some serious progress and so have you:yep:

OK.....You have made progress. You went from shoulder length to armpit length in one year with set backs. That is cause for celebration. You betta stop it!

That was so nicely said LadyEsquire...:yep:

Thanks ladies. I appreciate you so much. I'm starting to get my regimen down packed. I'm still learning alot and I just wish it had sunk in sooner lol.

Some of my staples are cheaper while the others are pricey.:spinning: Yall have no idea how close I was to chopping SL again.
