I am so happy right now. I am almost three months post!!! This is the longest i have ever stretched without having braids. I am sooooooooooo proud of myself!!! I have had some shedding and maybe a little breakage, but for me this is normal, even with a fresh relaxer; but that really is on wash days when I detangle and comb my hair. Soon I will be getting a sew-in cause I am sick of wearing my fall. But I just wanted to gloat and be extra excited because I thought I would ever be able to stretch this long without being in braids or twists.

Isn't it exciting?!!!!! I've always thought it was a bad thing to do because my hairdresser would always say you shouldn't do it because my hair would start breaking and shedding, etc . I believed her because she was my hairdresser. But now knowing what I know to control it, it's nothing.
Congrats on stretching! I'm all for it.

Being able to stretch is a blessing. It makes your hair healthier, saves you money, and teaches you that new growth itself is not the boogie man and there is no need to fear it. Congrats on stretching for so long, I am going for 12 weeks too:D

Congratz!

I've been thinking about doing a three month stretch myself. My last touch up was November 30th '06. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to. I'm pretty impatient, so I hate combing around or through new growth. S-curl helps a little. Still, I'll give it a try.

Right...I think the reason why I am able to stretch my relaxer is because I had my little trial with being natural. The new growth isnt what gets me...its the detangleing that takes everything out of me.

You can do it!!! If you dont think about it, i think you wil be able to stretch longer and longer. To tell you the truth, I want to stretch even longer. I think when I do get me sew-in, I will only relax the portion of hair left out.

Great job. It was a killer for me to strech my first relaxer after joing LCHF. That was only 10 weeks. Detangling can be a trip. You just have to have paitence and alot of time set aside. Now I love stretching. I guess I love the challenge. I'm 16 weeks post now and still looking to stretch longer.

I'm almost 17 weeks post and I NEVER thought I'd be able to do it. Pre-pooing has been a life saver. Next time I'll try stretching 20wks...

Congrats girlie!!

Congrats! ITA. I stretched for almost a year and swore I would never go past 4 months again. I'm sitting here at month 3 thinking maybe I'll go to six months. It's just so much easier than my first time around. :ohwell:

I finished a 14 wk stretch Dec 3rd, now I'm working on a 16 wk stretch:grin: I'm getting better at detangling, not ripping the hair out
I can't wait until I relax twice a year:lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

Stretching has always worked for me. As a matter of fact when I was going to the shop the lady wouldn't relax my hair but about 3x a year.

I totally agree! I am 11 weeks post and plan to stretch to 12 weeks, this makes my 2nd go round with waiting 12 weeks and it is definately much easier. I know what works for me, I've got great products, and I love the results! Thicker hair, length, and less chemicals each year.:D

Stretching isnt bad at all!! Back in high school I used to get a relaxer....every two weeks! I know....shame on me. I knew NOTHING about hair care back then. I found out about LHCF at some point in college and learned about stretching. I thought I was going to cry when I stretched for 5wks but it wasnt so bad. Then I stretched for 8wks and that wasnt bad at all. Now im stretching for 11wks. If I washed my own hair I wouldnt have any so I get my hair washed and set at the salon to avoid detangling. I love stretching and not damaging my hair with relaxers every two weeks!!!

Congrats on the stretching, I agree with you...it aint bad. I used to go three months until about three years when I changed hair dressers and she was shocked and appalled that I would go that long. But now, I am relaxing every six months and I am with a new stylist/hair dresser.

Deep conditioning and braids are a blessing!

I am 11 weeks tommorrow and I have good days and bad days thats for sure it is much easier now but the new growth is something else. I am trying for 12 weeks every time though I want to go longer eventually once my hair is longer I think it will be a breeze.

You are 100% correct on that one. If I were not patient with my hair and didn't expect to be able to have the comb glide through, I would not have been able to stretch for, going now, 35 months!!! :D

Congrats! You will find that it gets easier and easier each go round and your hair will thank you for it in the long run.

HHG!!

Congrats on your stretch! I made it 3 months on my last stretch. Pushing for 4 month for this one.

Congrads on your stretch!! The longest I went was 9 weeks but I think I could have further if I did more hardcore protein. I currently almost 4 weeks post and I really hope to hold it off till March atleast. I am going to buy some silicon mix to help when my newgrowth starts to take over.

I like stretching too! I'd give it an "A+" for those who can tolerate it....

Good Job Girlie!!

Words of Encouragement...

I didn't think that I could do it.. but I did:)

I am one that can tolerate it... My last relaxer was the end of October.. and I can definitely say it was worth it and I enjoyed playing in my new growth.. and lastly, I am looking forward to getting my hair relaxed this Friday.. and doing the stretch thing all over again afterwards:grin:

and CONGRATS to you Cocogirl !!!
