I spent about 8 loonnnnggggg hours on Saturday doing my hair (taking breaks in between of course
). My plan was to straighten in order to get it trimmed (about 1-3") This is my second time straightening this year. Since I stopped wearing installs earlier this year, I've been mainly bunning. I started at about 8a washed, tea rinse w/black tea (to help alleviate shedding), did a protein treatment, and deep conditioned with my steamer.
I blowdried my hair as best as I could, and started to flatiron at about 12p. I didn't finish the flatironing process until around 5:30p. I tried to do really, really small sections. I used a hot comb for my roots, and a Jilbere Tourmaline to straighten. I LOVE that iron even more than my CHI. It got my hair really straight with only two passes. I had horrible shedding earlier this year, and I've been really worried about straightening to see the damage. As I suspected, my hair is much thinner and the layers are much more pronounced now. I also had serious breakage in some spots due to a chemical reaction with my bkt/dye back in April. All in all, I knew before seeing the damage that I'd need to add a little hair for extra volume until my hair recovers.
I made two clip pieces with EPRT, 1b in 18". By the time I was finished with everything, SuperCuts was closed so I'm planning to go sometime this week to have between 1-3" trimmed. (will post pics after that) My plan is to start trimming an 1" every other month. I'm happy with the current length, and definitely not interested in growing it longer.
When I tried to put in the clip ins, the combs weren't snapping close to the roots because my hair was too straight. I took the clip-ins out the next day, and had my sister just sew in two tracks, so I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle.
I did a few bantu knots last night, and had nice waves in the morning. It dropped a little throughout the day, but I still like it. Anyone have any recs on what I can do to alleviate frizzing? I don't want to use a lot of product because I'm not planning to wash until another 2 weeks. I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to wear my hair out or slap my wig on..idk.
Here are the pics.

I know I'll get questions about my wigs, so here goes. I've mainly worn the kinky curly wig. I wore it straight for about 3 weeks, but I stopped for a bit because I got tired of having to manipulate the hair the same way I would if I had a sew-in. I thought I would be able to just slap it on and go, but it gets frizzy just by me wearing it.
I haven't worn the EPRT wig yet because I've been waiting for cooler temperature.

I wore my hair straight for three weeks. I didn't continue straightening. I actually bought a curling iron to get big curls, but it didn't hold even though I used hairspray. The last 2 weeks I did pincurls, and those stayed much longer.
Here are some pics. (Pic in my siggy was on the same day)
