My mom is trying to start locs, does anyone know the proper way to start them so they come out nice looking? And how to maintain them as they grow? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I definately have to recommend nappturality for that question because they have a whole sperate board just for locs.

I started my locks. with braids bc twists wouldn't stay in my hair. They were extremely neat looking and I often braided them when wet to get that curly look. I got a lot of comments from strangers about how neat my locks were, so if that's the look you're aiming for I would suggest braiding to start out with. Professionally done.
