Spin Off: If not Red Lobster then where?

I love seafood, but I used to hate it, so I don't really know where the best places to go are.

If you frequent more fine dining seafood places, please share. What is it about the place that's so much better than Red Lobster?

Literally, my first lobster was last summer. I didn't like it as much as crab, and the only other time I've had lobster was in a pasta with the baby lobsters lol.

LOL, so you're in the DMV? Cool you're in my neck of the woods. Well, I made reservations for Chart House in VA for our wedding anniversary. Here's the link, http://www.chart-house.com/ . I've never been, but have heard great things about it. So we'll see. Several women on here seem to have had good experiences there as well. Oh I like Bone Fish Grill (http://www.bonefishgrill.com/) not sure that's considered fine dining, but I was STUFFED when I left.

Here's a little tool I LOVE!! This should help you too: http://www.washingtonian.com/searchResults.html#SearchResults

Happy eating!!

I love Italian food. There's a spot that serves the best food ever. It's a little pricey but nothing real expensive. (i guess that's relative though)

My favorite food is Greek and Lebanese but I love Fogo De Chao(Brazillian).

interesting. is Fogo De Chao a restaurant name?

YAYYY I have only been to Bone Fish Grill once and I think I ordered a salad bc it was Mother's Day and I was way too nervous about the day going perfectly to eat lol

Congrats on your anniversaire :)

Chart House's menu is mouth-watering

Hey let me know if you want to hit up some of the seafood restaurants since you live in the DMV. My hubby loves seafood, but not fine dining. He eats it, but I don't think he likes the stuffiness of it all. He's fine with Phillips on ANY day. LOL!!

There's also a place that's inexpensive called Jerry's and they have crab bombs that I've been dying to try for the longest. Again, I get no where waiting for the man.

Also heard good things of Fogo de Chao. When I went to their site I was IMPRESSED!! Oh no the foodie in me is coming out....Thanks ladies I just gained like 10 lbs. at the thought of it all!!! :)

Yes, its a Brazilian restaurant. Check it out here www.fogodechao.com

Also, when you're about to go to restaurants, check out Yelp.com to get reviews. We tried some Himalayan food a couple months ago and I loved that! When I went to school there, DC had some awesome restaurants.

HOW can you LOVE that place!?

It's evil!

I took DH there for his Birthday and we were both so disgustingly stuffed that we came home and crashed on the couch. Too full to color....nothing good about that. And I'm certain neither of us even ate $50.00 worth of food. UGH!

I agree with WhipEffectz1, DC has a little bit of everything. Whatever you have a taste for you can find it!!! I've had Moroccan twice and loved it!! Especially their chicken tagine. Yummy, but it's better at Marrakesh, it's soooooo much fun there!! Very sexy and nice. Perfect date spot. http://www.marrakesh.us/

When we went they had belly dancers and just everything is sooo authentic. Will definitely go back.

Bonefish and The Chart House are the main places DH and I go. I love the fact that Bonefish lets you split entrees because I can never eat all of my food. I love their bang bang shrimp, and eveything about the Chart House is awesome. We usually don't bother getting a table, we just sit at the tables with the big chairs near the bar area (to the right of the door). The wait is too long to try to get a table IMO.

I LOVE EATING OUT!!! I miss the SF Bay so badly because Williamsburg has hardly any unique restaurants IMO. CRAB BOMBS? That sounds perfect. I'm surprised that there's a man who doesn't want to feel full and full of seafood lol.

Can't wait to move closer to DC so I can explore the international cuisines.

Wow. Never had that either. I'm excited. Lots of meat on a stick mmm LOL. And that papaya cream omg I might get a 2nd job just so I can move sooner.

Fogo de Chao is one of my all-time favorite restaurants! (but not exactly a seafood house!)

Well I am looking more for seafood places but any restaurant that you ladies feel is better than Red Lobster is what I'm curious about lol. I loveeeeee food.

The last time DH and I went there, we had made a reservation at the Marriott next door. We knew from previous experience that we didn't want to attempt the drive home!

I LOVE Marrakesh!

The olive chicken is to die for there.

Last time I went, the Belly dancer couldn't dance for "nuthin!."

Another great place is Rasika...Indian. OMG, I used to hit that place up for lunch at least twice a week.

I have never been to a belly dancing restaurant. awesome!

WOW LOL I'll um keep that in mind lmao

btw I love Oyamel's Mexican place. I went there for the Inauguration because it was so cold outside

SO and I enjoy going to try new places although I have to drag him sometimes because he wants a simple steak and potato meal. Its really awesome to try different ethnic cuisines. Co-signing on the belly dancers and Morroccan food. That is such a treat for us. Of course, you have to go with like minded people CreoleSugarFace because some people don't like trying new stuff unfortunately.

Oh, believe it or not, "The Prime Rib" has AWESOME seafood. Their Imperial Shrimp and the Ahi Tuna are AMAZING!!!!!

The Capitol Grille's tuna is great as well.

makarresh sounds so delicious. i must try it out next time i'm in the DC area.

this is another chain restaurant, but i love carrabas. it's got a more intimate setting. also phillips in DC is great for seafood. i haven't been there in YEARS, but it was fabulous when i was there in middle school

I love their bang bang shrimp too!! Hubby didn't, but he's finicky. They just put one in Brandywine which is closer to me, but I've heard that they stay crowded with a wait. Chart House I've heard the same, that's why I made reservations. I'm so excited to go. I've been trying to get DH to go for like 6 years when a co worker told me about it. So I can't wait to report back how it goes. I'm hoping this will be a winner with DH.

What do you usually get at Chart house?

I think I've had everything on their menu but I LOVE the mussels and the Snapper! DH always gets the Filet and Lobster entree. They have this chocolate cake that will make you lick the plate with no shame AFTER you stab your DH with a fork for taking too big a bite. :look:

DH is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, like someone else posted. He can pass on all the fluff, if you know what I mean. He's simple. But here's more info on Jerry's and the crab bomb, https://www.jerrysseafood.com/main.php . I had a crab ball at a wedding they catered and it was sooooo good. In all honesty I'd probably be sick of the crab bomb.

LMFAO,:lachen::lachen::lachen: my neighbors just went like two weeks ago and they told me about the chocolate cake. I'm going in knowing I'll be taking my entree home as I definitely want to try to chocolate cake. I love me some chocolate!!!

DH and I love the following for seafood and sushi:
Oceanaire - pricey, but sides are big enough to share. The crabcakes have no fillers. Delish.
Grace Mandarin at National Harbor - happy hour sushi menu is great and inexpensive and I've never tasted anything on the menu I didn't like. And with drinks like the Jade, you can't go wrong. LOL.
Rosa Mexicana at National Harbor - not seafood, but good eats.
Bonefish and Grillfish both good and reasonably priced.
As you can see, we love to eat!

I don't live in your area but my uncle & his wife took me to Legal Seafood the last time I visited them in the DC area. I enjoyed the food.

Bonefish is also good. We have them in the NY area.

When I was in Boston I think a lot of people told me about Legal but that was back when I hated everything except shrimp lol
