Maybe its time to try some internal work...like MSM, garlic tabs, Omega 3-6-9 and multi-vitamins.

Also, how is your diet? are you drinking enough water? eating enough lean proteins, veggies, fruit and complex carbs?

Where's the protein?!!!!

I see all this moisture and not a drop of protein

Topical and internal aides take awhile to work except for what I here of Alter ego garlic conditioner.

So while you are waiting get some protein conditioner.
Hair your length needs it. DONT GET THE APHOGEE strong stuff. That should be the last resort.

That is not alot of shedding either remember how much we are supposed to lose a day.

Get your own scissor and cut right above the splits of each one you see.

I also dont see you using any moisturizer during the week eithier. Start doing that. Determine if you need it every day or every other day.

When was the last time you had you ends trimmed? When I was relaxed (which was only 4 months ago. lol), I would wait too long to trim my ends, and my hair would start breaking, and making that "W" shape that yours is making. Splits will travel up the strands, which is what it looks like happened to your hair.

What would you consider a moisturizer, I thought I was getting that with the EVOO/Coconut oil?

I just got it trimmed in Dec:perplexed

What is MSM??

The oils you are using are sealants and should be used after you moisturize with some kind of water based moisturizer. Such as water, or Elasta QP olive and and mango.
And MSM is a sulpher vitamin supplement.

Although coconut oil can be used as a moisturizer most of the oils you named are sealeants which means they lock in the moisture. You need to get a light weight moisturizer then seal.

Also correct me if I am wrong someone, but I see for your DC you named VO5. That is a 3min wash out conditioner. You need to use something that specifically states for at least 15min. and says can be used as a DC.

The instant conditioners (VO5) molecules are too big to penetrate the hair shaft thus you are not getting what you though you were getting.

sorry for so many typos but its too early here and I am at work tired. :perplexed

Yes but it does not work for everyone. I know it didnt work for my DD when I straightened her hair she had splits galore; It was ridiculous.

I would consider a moisturizer something that has water listed as an ingredient, then you seal with one of your oils.

Check out this video on how to moisturize without weighing down your hair. This is for you to see the technique: YouTube - Brittanynic16's Channel

Even though EVOO and coconut oil penetrates the hair, you still cannot only use that if you're relaxed. Relaxers remove protien, moisture and other essential stuff from the hair....and somewhat changes the molecular structure of the hair, which makes it prone to extreme drynes.....and oil alone is not gonna be enough.

Your reggie looks fine to me, other than the lack of a good moisturiser...

I'm thinking, getting a good moisturiser is what you need.

So a good water based moisturizer and protein? Protein = Duotex?

I would go with the moisture first personally. Unless your hair is really weak when it is wet...9 times out of 10 you probably need more moisture....

I haven't read everyone's response but at the risk of being stoned...when I look at this image:

I see not just the split but also the aftermath of a split in the strand to the left.

It happens to me too IF I don't dust my hair regularly or do it in good time (I don't know if you do or not). So what happens then is your hair tears from the ends and as the split extends up the strand, because it's no longer a strong WHOLE, each arm is weaker and therefore susceptible to breakage. So one arm broke off, leaving the other partial hair attached. It's only a matter of days before that weak arm breaks off too.

Weak strands can break due to lack of protein. But split strands are weak and will break off even after the use of protein because nothing can stick them together to give them the strength of a whole strand--I'm not even sure they can hold onto the protein (Can they?). The strand to the right looks thin that it probably is what's left after part of the whole broke off.

This was the reason my hair never got longer than SL when I wasn't dusting. And the reason why going 4 months w/o dusting gave me a strand like the one on the left.

Notice how much thicker the strand is beyond the split. Also notice how easy it is to pull those two arms apart and either rip one out or tear the strand even further to leave 2 weaklings that'll break off at the slightest manipulation.

The only way to avoid this is to dust the ends regularly BEFORE the split is visible to your eye, so you keep the end as thick as the main part beyond the split. A blunt end doesn't tear as easily as a split one, so you reduce chances of thin ends that break.

That's my story anyway, and I'm sticking to it. :duck:

First of all, pretty hair :yep: Maybe you should check your porosity. And I agree that some type of protein product is needed. And last, pretty hair :yep:
