Someone left this in my Fotki Guestbook

Don't feel bad. I've been viewing alot of peoples fotki's today and came across this same stupid arse message in several fotki's. Someone is obviously just pissed about something that may have happened in their lives and wants folks to join in the misery.
Don't pay that ignant chick no attention.

How nice. He or she should of been real and true to their feelings and left their name and email address. You can't assume somone wearing locks is true and down for the black cause. There are some brothers with locks that wouldn't give sisters the time of day.

Dont stone me...I think she/he was free to leave what they wanted in your fotki, if you don't want that, then lock it up. Criticism is criticism no matter if you feel it was off topic (If the fotki album is about your hair I don't see how a comment about locks is off topic.)

I PROMISE I DIDN'T WRITE THE MESSAGE:grin:

I don't agree with the message.

Clearly this person is very passionate about what she/he believes and I have met people like this, hell I have been that person. I think you should take it as what it was...just someone's critcism/advice take it or leave it. You don't have to feel bad about how you wear your hair, if you want to relax do so and know the real reasons behind it.

Side bar - I do think alot of us AA women are mixed up in the head when it comes to beauty, but that may not be you. So if you know who you are disregard the message.

Sounds like you've been stung by the re-education squad. That's so unfortunate, don't let it get you down! If anyone's going to ballsy enough to leave such a comment why not leave their name too, what an idiot. :nono:

Your hair is beautiful and what you choose to do with it if your decision. Let's keep it moving.

See...this is why I lock my fotki. I hate to do it cause I really dislike the locks, but too many ladies have been stalked and burned by ill-meaning haters. It's ridiculous!:nono:

It figures that the anonymous coward would leave a comment like that.:nono: it pisses me off that whoever it was wasn't brave enough to show a name. Don't sweat it girl. Your hair is gorgeous.:rosebud:

Ignorance truly is bliss for some people. :nono: And how brave of them to not leave who they are. Not a coward at all, right?

Delete that mess and keep it moving. You know what's right for you, don't let the "back to Africa" squad ruin your day.

I guess they are telling me that I am a "sell out" because I relax and that I am what's wrong with black america. I guess locks are supposed to "free me" or something.:ohwell:

If the person is so against the use of relaxers, then why is she (assuming) looking at your album? That's crazy. Everyone has their own opinions, but she was out of line for putting that as a comment. If she felt that strongly to tell you how you should wear your hair, then she should have sent you a message or something, privately.

Leave your album open because they will find a way to get your password, I had a few unwelcome comments in my picture trail because I texlaxed my hair, but I just kindly ddeleted them and I am proceeding to put up my texlaxed pics and start this journey, I refuse to let someone think they can just shut me down by being STUPID! I have alife to live and they need to get one.

It ias always gonna be someone saying something crazy in your fotki and of course they won't reveal their true selves so why waste time and energy responding? DELETE and keep on moving baby, then they will stop once they know you ain't even trying to hear or read them.

yep and like someone else previously mentioned....turn on the ip logger - that way you can report them to fotki.

This reminds me of a poster who came on here one time or was once a member. She still might be lurking somewhere but I will say what I've to say.

She was telling all the members how they should basically give up trying to have long hair cause black women don't have long hair. And guess what, she posted her pic and she was black with long hair. :wallbash:

Doesn't make sense to me for somone to tell another person they can't achieve something when you already have.

You sure it wasn't a weave?

The person she is speaking of doesnt wear a weave, her hair is about brastrap, but when she made the post she meant growing to mega lengths like hip and tailbone. She wasnt trying to be negative, she was just stressed and tired of seeing other women stressing themselves out trying to grow an inch, instead of enjoying their hair. She figures if you have to struggle every single day, that maybe the goal isnt realistic for you. She wasnt trying to discourage folx tho. Please lets not go off on a tangent about that post, tho. I dont want to see another post about what we cant do.

Thanks for explaining. Don't worry, we won't start talking about that; it's just usually seems that when people say you can't do it that means that the couldn't achieve their goal and don't want to see others succeed. But your explaination cleared everything up.

OP,

Some people are just too doggone deep for their own good. Don't lock your album because of one person that believes in a one size fits all mentality. You do you!

I would have to tell them, that THEY are in fact whats wrong with black America.

Not accepting your black brothers and sisters for who THEY choose to be, and "hating" on them because they don't feel the same way about you. Making assumptions based on cultural stereotypes. Flinging around debasing accusations based in nothing more than speculation. Displaying a sense of undue entitlement, somehow they think they have all th answers and have the right to (try to) boss you around in your own personal space.

In my opinion THATS more whats wrong with black America than anything else. Hatred of your BROTHER and SISTER. Not relaxing your hair and buying from Koreans....

If you ask me... THAT person is more RACIST and BACKWARDS than "the man".

GET REAL.

That person is Ignorant with a capital "I" and Cowardly. Ignorant of life, and her/his own prejudices, and Cowardly for not being "real" and stepping forward and owning what they said.

If they were SUCH a crusader for righteousness and "Black power" and they had their **** together.... why the hell would they want to hide behind a veil of an anonymity? If what they had to say was legit and a "shining beacon of truth" they would come out an show their face.

Coward!

Some people need to get a life. I have better things to do and more serious concerns in my life than to care about how other people choose to wear their hair.

You sure it wasn't a weave?

Nope. Pretty sure it was her hair. I wasn't here back when the site first began. I think it was 04' or 05. It was an old thread and someone bumped for some reason.

Probably one of the older members would remember. All the members were talking about her in the thread.:yep:

How someone wears their hair is their own personal preference. Some people prefer relaxed some people like to wear their hair natural. Your intentions and objective should not be analyzed because you wear your hair a certain way. At the end of the day its just hair. "I am not my hair, I am not this skin, I am not your expectations no, I am not hair I am not this skin, I am a soul that lies within" People need to keep their close minded and narrow minded opinions to themselves. If you disagree with someone keep it moving dont be nasty about it IMO.

Well, i mean, gosh. Why did they even visit your fotki in the first place, if they didn't see something that interested them? :ohwell:

Exactly what I was thinking!

I'm pissed that black people keep associated our race with something as benign and rediculous as hair. So... if you don't have the right type of hair, you're not black? Isn't that the reverse to what she's saying to you... if you don't lock your hair, you're not black? MMkay... its good to know our culture has been reduced to hairstyles. I wish black people would figure out who and what they are before they start preaching all types of foolishness. I guess all the inventors, African Kings and Queens, the dancing, the food... everything else that comes from the "motherland" or "our culture" (I use these terms loosely since I am more than positive this person will object to me saying such literally) is all for naught.

Hmm this person just seems bitter, or in disbeleif because "our" hair grows, and your showing a testimony to that!...Her post was completely O/T besides does that meannearly EVERYONE on LHCF is a sell out? because whether we are natural all relaxed here were striving for healthy hair...followed by legnth and not to mention i don't know anyone on here with locks.

I'm just now getting to this thread...I wouldn't let a person who is obviously insecure about who they are stress me."LOCKS = freedom"? :lachen:He/she don't even know what they're talking about! They are the ones who have enslaved their mentality about how a black woman should look (probably act and dress as well).
