Hey APL in 08ers...how's it going? I'm chilling with the just leave it alone method. I wash, condition, dry, and then just leave it alone all week other than adding some castor oil and maybe a lil leave in. It's working great. I gots a lot of new growth my ends are looking so much better, and I'm looking forward to checking my length at my May relaxer.

How are things coming for you guys? What's your regimine, products, suggestions, questions?

Chayil

My regimen is simple, it's just the products I'm trying to scale back! I'm getting there, though. My regimen is below:

  • Shampoo 1-2x week (I shampoo in my hair in braids)
  • DC after every shampoo
  • Cowash 1x week (substitute for one of the shampoos) - I had eliminated cowashes previously, but I'm giving them another try for awhile:look:
  • Air dry
  • Henna once a month for color/conditioning
  • Protein treatment when needed
  • Wear protective styles
  • No direct heat
  • Moisturize and baggy at night (except nights that I wash my hair)
  • Boundless Tresses every other night
  • Vitamins, water, and exercise!
I'm learning how to do kinky twists so I keep my hair braided for awhile.

I'm still weavin it up, although I haven't been washing as much as I should!:look: Can't wait to take out this weave. I'm sooo tempting to go back to relaxers though!! Help!!!:(

Well, I just had to trim a little. I started seeing some split ends. I've also been having a lot of shedding. I heard this is supposed to be a good thing though. As long as you know it's shedding and not breaking. I read that once you start on a new hair growth regime that you have increased shedding because the follicle stops in mid-stream to "remake" the hair. Your hair doesn't all of a sudden get thick when you start a new growth regime it will need to start over to change the structure of the hair. Results are usually seen when the hair grows back. Usually thicker healthier hair (This is what I read).

I have been shampooing once a week with deep cond. I moisturize couple times a day with distilled water and rosemary oil in a spray mist bottle and safflower oil on my ends. I started using henna and indigo once a month.

I am happy about one thing though. My new growth is coming in thicker. My hair had started looking very sick. I will be happy by this time next year. I hate I have to trim at all because it looks as if my hair is at a standstill but I will be glad when I get all the sick looking ends off. Hope everyone else is growing well!

I'm doing good so far.
I try to staw away from the scissors and make it through 9 months of protective styling.

Well my regime and products have stabilize quite a bit.

Regime- wash and condition usually 2x a week, sometimes more if I have been working out alot. I use porosity control before I deep condition and I condition for no less than 20mins. I use a light protien every other week or as needed. I rollerset and moisturize daily.

I am still taking my vitamins ....when I remember:look: :)

I wait atleast 8 weeks between relaxers but I would love to make it to 10 weeks. I am thinking of trying a flexi-rod set for the last 2 weeks or so to get me over the hump. My hair is alot healthier though so stretching might be easier.

Since having my hair "cut" and doing my corrective my hair is shorter but I think that I can be a full shoulder length by the end of the year. That way apl in 2008 is not impossible.

I definitely be APL by this in time in '08. I would love to make it there sooner though :ohwell:

I dont pay much attention to my hair. I'm on the HYHTJ Challenge, so buns errday all day.... and I prolly cowash every couple days and shampoo once a calendar week, but more than 7 days sometimes. I just use whatever's in my shower (prolly like 8-10 products-still a PJ although I haven't purchased anything lately).

I use BT every other day too, but I don't take my vitamins. But I plan to start again. I put them in my purse so that is a start.

I have my hair in medium twists. I will leave it alone for a week or longer. I keep them moisturized w/a spray moisturizer and seal the ends w shea butter or castor oil. I think twists are gonna my style for the spring.:)

I am not sure if I should be checking in here. My goal for the end of 2007 besides healthy hair is to have my hair at shoulder length. Is it realistic then to be at APL twelve months later?

I'm in the exact same position you are but then I'll still be happy if I'm even anywhere near armpit length in 2008 cos my hair has NEVER been that long.

I've been doing good with full head baggying each night, and wearing french twists or buns during the day. I also henna'd for the first time last week, and my hair looks and feels so much better.

I took my hair down to show my co-worker and she commented that it looked longer...hopefully its true! :D

I kind of want to join. I don't know if its to late. I set a goal of reaching Armpit by December 31. but I have a question open to everyone. I would say I am shoulder lenght BUT do I need to be full shoulder length to gain armpit lenght? I really don't know. This is what I will be doing

Shampoo 1-2x week
  • DC after every shampoo
  • CW 3x week
  • Air dry
  • Protein treatment once a week
  • No direct heat
  • Moisturize and baggy every night
  • Boundless Tresses every other night

I think it depends on how fast your hair grows. If you're growing at the average rate 6 inches from your shoulder should be about apl. And it you're growing faster than that you definitely should make it.

I'll pretty much be doing what I'm doing now, which is low maintanence, no to little heat. Once my hair is long enough to get into a bun, I'll be doing that. I shampoo once about every 2 weeks, co wash every 2 - 3 days, and trim every six months.

Hey ladies. How's it going? It's been about a month since we last checked in so updates!

As for me I just got a relaxer. I was mad as crap at my stylist incase you missed the thread, but I washed and aphogeed and porosity controlled and my hair is almost back to normal.

I didn't trim with this relaxer and my ends look great. I was thinking to myself why do I spend all this time nurturing and moisturizing and pampering my ends to trim them. So I'm not trimming until Next summer which will be 18 months since my last trim.

Menwhile my hair is FAST approaching shoulder length. When I have it down I love feeling it on the top of my shoulders, but 99% of the time it's bunned.

So everything is going great. I definately expect to se APL by the end of next year.

I just wanted to say I'm in on this. Even if it's the end of '08 I'll make it!

Yep it's gonna be end of 08 for me. I'll be shoulder at the beginning of next year. Then summer imma do a trim and make the mad dash for APL by New Years Eve next year.

Im going to start taking Viviscal in order to boost growth. I am approximately 5 inches from APL and for me this sounds like a long ways because my hair grows slowly. I just recently got a relaxer after 8 weeks, no trim because it didnt make sense when my ends were healthy and I wouldve just ended up losing the growth I gained. I am crossing my fingers for good growth by the end of this year!

Well, I am almost 8 weeks post and have a good amount of newgrowth so when I touch up, I should be making steady progress towards shoulder length. My goal is to be shoulder length by the end of the year so I will have all of 08 to get to apl. I should hit shoulder length at my current rate in october or november. I am staying consisitent with my regime and my ends are very happy. I need to get more consistent with my vitamin intake. I got sick and haven't gotten back on the wagon. I have also been dealing with some stomach issues so my doctor took me off all of my beloved supplements for a while. I am not planning on experimenting with any major new methods because if it doesn't work, I don't want the set back. I am going to dust with this next relaxer and then dust again in september and then again for new years.

I'm in!...about 2inches away in the back,but my front is at collarbone....I plan2 be full APL,god speed,by the spring of 08...let's get it! ;)

I have FIVE inches til APL despite being at legitimately SL (I'm supposed to be hiding my hair, so I cant show any updates). Coupled with the fact that my hair only grows 3/8 of an inch/month, I have about 15 months til APL and that iff there are no setbacks. So... I should definitely be APL in '08. *sigh*

I had a dream about my APL hair the other night. It was so real that I woke up real disappointed. :(

The only thing I didn't like about it is that my hair was uneven in the back. But hey, I will visualize the hell of the this dream regardless!
