Single black women being urged to date outside race

I read this article earlier today.

"Divestment is an imperative of our self-preservation as black women." WTF?

The article focus is solely on Black women seeking out White men. White men are not the only option. It makes it seem like interracial dating is the "promised land" of dating. At the end of the day a man is a man and being trifling has no color. If we're comparing men apples to apples (education, upbringing, religious affiliation etc.) across racial lines there really is no difference. I'm all for BW expanding their dating options if they choose to do so. But doing so because you think the "others" are better or that the process will be easier is sending BW in the wrong direction.

While everyone is busy lamenting the plight of the educated SBW where are the articles about the extended adolescence of many American men? You know the ones 25-40 frat boys with bank accounts. Where's that article, the 20/20 special reports? It's never about the men.

The "divestment" aspect is often discussed on Black Women's Empowerment. I understand where some of it is coming from and agree to some extent, in theory, but this is something I'm generally not comfortable w/. I don't think people are thinking of the long term repercussions of urging such drastic action. Black women certainly need to consider who and what gets our money, but divestment in the BC totally has major consequences that they aren't thinking out.

In Lisa's defense, she has said repeatedly that interracial dating/marriage and divestment have nothing to do with one another. In fact, she repeated it again only recently. The insertion of her blog into that article didn't make sense to me.
