MizaniMami, how did this last retouch go for you? I have tried searching for the post but can't find one. I am curious because I am counting down to my first self-relax experience and am considering using the Silk Elements Reg. Lye relaxer. Is this what you used? What was the outcome?

You mean my corrective? I was still texlaxed even AFTER I corrected. I corrected with Bantu reg.

I, Miss-My-Hair-Does-Not-Like-Lye-Relaxers, went to Sally's today, because I was thoroughly surprised that Megasilk Lye Relaxer has outstanding ingredients including shea butter and avocado oil. I went against my best mind and purchased the lye version in coarse. After rereading this thread, I am concerned about the strength. My hair is resistant 4b/a, but my scalp is sensitive. For all of you who said that the regular left you underprocessed, was the underprocessing due to the lack of strength of the relaxer or because it burned you too badly for you to allow it to process fully?

If your hair doesn't like relaxers, then please don't use the coarse. It is VERY strong and works very very fast. I used it, but next time I will use reg or mild.

My hair burned very badly but I wasn't tryna go the texlaxing route again. I used the reg. So what I did was, I sprayed the areas that burned too bad where I couldn't take it with my spray water.:look: That's not usually recommended but I was so scared to be texlaxed.

All in all I would go with a mild.

I use the Regular strength, the first time I came out underprocessed becuase I didn't leave the relaxer on long enough and it was also my first time self relaxing. However my last touch up came out just right. :yep:

On both occaisions using this relaxer, I have never had any burning whatsoever. This stuff is my crack for sure!

is there anyone who uses silk elements but does not self relax? just curious. i want to buy it to take it to my hairdresser.

Yes!!:D I dont dare and relax my own hair-tried it before and failed! Last time I got my relaxer, I just brought the relaxer and let my stylist apply it. I got excellent results, but plan on switching to mild cuz the regular got me BONE straight, and plus it burned, too.:(

I didn't self relax either and I used mild. My hair turned out very pretty. I had slight burning.
