I just sat here and read every single post. Thank you girl's. I was deciding on what relaxer to use for my next touch up. I will def. go with the mild version. Should I have them add oil to the relaxer?

Okay Shunta,

Girl you DEF will need the mild relaxer. I relaxed today (dcing under the dryer now) and my hair got Super straight! Some places bone straight! But the back is straight but not too straight or too texlaxed-perfect. I pulled the relaxer down on some parts of my hair (purposely overlapped) since I am not doing the texlaxing thing anymore. *shields from LHCF*

I wanted it straight but not bone straight. Oh well. I'll deal. I got some good news that I will share in another thread though.;)

Anyways, it burned like Bantu! This relaxer burned the fire outta my scalp. I'm usually a dog when it comes to burning and I can withstand a lot but my little water bottle saved the day. I had to keep spritzing areas till finally I had to let go. I let it stay in for 9 minutes, rinsed out the front, got out the shower and stood another 4.

I based with a petroleum based baser AND with oil. It was burning so bad but I am glad my sis was here to help (love ya sis).

I will def. get a mild for my front (the part that got bone straight-but it's cool, I keep it short for my bangs anyways) and the reg. for my back hairs!

Oh yeah and whoever said this relaxerleaves your hair feeling like silk IS THE TRUTH! Even though some parts are bone straight my hair feels like silk. I was shining even through the relaxer. All in all I am very happy!!!
Yay!!!! Im so happy that you decided to relax. Its so strange how I sit in class and think about you guys. Instead of listening to my instructor, Im sitting and wondering whos relaxing tonight and what important threads Im missing. Anyhoo, it looks like you are officially a SE relaxer convert. Isnt it great?! And I will definitely get the mild one next time

 Girl you aint the only one. Everytime I'm near anything related to hair, I think of yall. I have to restrain myself from calling Sistaslick to ask her 1,001 questions

Ummm, I need more LHCF phone # for group support

Now I'm not one to say 'told you so'....but

TOLD YOU SO! TOLD YOU SO! TOLD YOU, TOLD YOU, TOLD YOU SO!:p

Glad the SE worked for you MizMa! Sorry you burned though.:(

Actually I was thinking about using mild for my back and reg for the front since it stays on the back longer. Either that or I'll get someone to do the back while I do the front, cuz it takes me WAY to long to do the back of my own melon.

I knooooow! I actually thought about you though.

But I had a few scalp burns/scabs this morning. Little sections of hair had actually got stuck to the scabs since I wrapped my hair last night.:perplexed It was a beast to get undone. But I'm cool now.

Okay, best thing for a scalp burn, after you have neutralized and DC'd right before you dry, roll or wrap your hair is to put some vaseline or Aloe Vera gel on the burns and do that every night til your next wash. That will keep your hair from being stuck to the burn and also keep a big crusty scab from forming, you'll still scab but not NEARLY as bad. I do this when I have a burn and the hair never sticks and when I wash 3-4 days later the scabs come right out and I don't lose any hair. HTH

I didnt burn at all when I used it , which is why I will give it another chance ..
Bantu Tore my scalp up

I used Profectiv's Neutralizin Mousse. I think it was khandiB who hipped me on to this. It is the truth! And it's color coded to let you know when the relaxer is out.

Then I Dced twiced (a little over kill) I Dc'ed with Aveda Color Conserve conditioner and then followed with Aveda DR conditioner. I then added a little bit of Aveda DR conditioner as a leave-in and sealed it with some Keracare OIls.

ETA: as for my sister! She's mine!!! lol

Does anyone know of a BSS in Manhattan or Brooklyn that carries this? There are no Sally's in the area that I can find. :(

Have not read all posts, maybe someone answered you but...there is a SALLY'S in the GEORGETOWN MALL, it's close to KINGS PLAZA MALL. Brooklyn, on Ralph Avenue between Avenue K and Avenue L.

While everyone else had excellent results with Mild SE Lye Relaxer, mine came out seriously underprocessed.
Its looks as if all my new growth has been texlaxed... I think its cause I've been reading so many posts about it processing quickly and since I have pretty fine hair, and I thought I'd overprocess. Is there a way to correct this?

**I hope this is the appropriate thread to ask this in.:look:

The same thing happened to my sis but she doesn't have fine hair. She is just going to relax in six weeks and we will purposely overlap her so that we can correct that area.

You could wait a week or two then do a corrective, or protective style until time for your next touch-up and use Regular. HTH

I forgot to mention, I did the whole Relax, Rinse, Protein and Neutralize thing too. I've been reading that some ladies have been experiencing reversion when they use this method. Perhaps I did apply the relaxer correctly and long enough, but reversed its effects with the protein.....

Hmmmm....:brainy:

Thanks....I'm sooo afraid of overprocessing (which is partly the reason why I think I underprocessed anyway) I imagine I'd do the same thing minus the protein (not keeping it on long enough) all over again.

The first time I used my SE lye-regular, I came out underprocessed too. I just flat ironed my new growth and waited until my next touch time, 10 weeks later, to fix it.

MizaniMami said:
Girl, I had to do a corrective in two areas (with Bantu) and they STILL wasn't straight. I just took that as a sign to keep it moving the texlaxed way.

But Mizani got me straight. If this fails I will be back to Mizani Reg, just texlaxing instead of straight.

Thanks Shunta, I relax on Wednesday night and I will let you ladies know how it goes!

MizaniMami, how did this last retouch go for you? I have tried searching for the post but can't find one. I am curious because I am counting down to my first self-relax experience and am considering using the Silk Elements Reg. Lye relaxer. Is this what you used? What was the outcome?
