Did you experience any burning or breakage with this relaxer??

Also, do you relax straight or texlax?

I am considering this for my next relaxer. Any insights?

Usually no burning (unless I've been scratching) and I texlax (although I did relax mor than texlax this last time b/c my hair is resistant to relaxers lately - probably the Biotin and/or MSM). '

I really like this relaxer. I use the mild, and the net. shampoo.

I had 2 touch ups with this relaxer. The first time is tingled because I had been sweating and manipulating my scalp. The second time was fine.

It gets my hair really silky and straight. I love it!!

I have used it for my last 2-3 relaxers and it worked well. With all the raves about ORS relaxer, I wanted to try that for my next relaxer to compare but I'm not sure if they'll be adverse effects. But I was definitely satisfied with Silk Elements. I used the mild also.

I used the Regular strength. I had zero burning although the night before I oiled my scalp and just prior to the touch up I based with grease. My hair right now is texlaxed, since it was my 1st time self relaxing. Next time I will definitely leave it on longer. I am very happy with this relaxer though and I plan on using it again. ;)

I used this and I love it! It got me bone straight with very little effort. I burned in a couple places, but that was totally my fault as I had been scratching earlier in the day. I put some coconut oil on the burns so I didn't scab much, and when I washed four days later, no more scabs, no irritation.

Two thumbs up from me.

I did not experience burning unless I scratched b4. I have not noticed any extra shedding or breakage. This relaxer works pretty fast in my opinion and gets your hair str8 and my hair was not hard afterwards. I relaxed bone str8 while using it, I used regular. I also love the ingredients and the fact that after you rinse out the relaxer you use the conditioner and then neutralize. I mix the conditoner with my optimum low ph normalizer.

Those of you ladies who got your hair straight while using this, how long did you leave it on for? It probably took 10-12 min. for me to apply and I left it on for an additional 6-8 min. for 18 minutes total. How do I get my hair straighter next time?

did you use reg. strength? It takes me about 20mins to apply and I let sit for maybe 2-5 if I let it sit at all.

What she said, and I was heavy handed with it. Applied to both sides of my hair. I need to work on speeding up my application time, or switch to mild, I'm not used to bone straight. Don't get me wrong, I like it and everything, but the fact that the relaxer works so well is kinda scary.

I used the regular and left it on for 15 min. I relax straight. Some portions of my hair need a little more time, so I'll change my strategy in Sept. The only place I burned was where I scratched. My scalp jumps and twitches something awful at relaxer time:mad:

I think it's trying to discourage me from relaxing, but it doesn't work:lol:

did you relax the coarsest parts of your head first? I know some directions say start from the middle and work toward the front and then do the back but I do four sections starting with the back section and then the rear of the front sections.

Thanks so much Sassyhair, Yourleoqueen, and Tenderheaded for your advice. I did use the Regular strength. Since it was my first time self relaxing, I think I am reacting to the difference in my hair from when I used to get my touch ups at the Dominicans where they would relax it within an inch of its life. I have some natural waves and curls left in my hair which is good. Don't mind me, I'm just obseessing about my hair AGAIN. *sigh* :look:

I used the regular strength for my first self-relaxing venture about 5 weeks ago. The relaxer took a long time to give so much as a little tingle which was great-- it was so gentle, it gave me a long time to work with it. I was slow. It took me about 50 minutes all together, but my hair is resistant so that worked out well for me. Most of my hair was straight, but I had a few texlaxed sections. I burned my scalp alittle in my temple area (left side and right side). My hair is softer here, so that taught me to apply there last.

Next time, I am going to try to relax each side separately. I'll try the first side on a Friday night and then the other side the following Saturday morning. I kept looking at the clock and getting nervous and so I rinsed after 50 minutes though I would've liked to smooth through a second time.

My rec for the folks that aren't getting their hair straight with this, or any other relaxer--leave it on longer and apply a generous amount.

ETA: I followed the directions on the kit as far as neutralizing goes. It says to neutralize FIRST then condition. I know many like the use the conditioner first, but I've been told it can be harmful to the hair unless a particular relaxer systems instructs that it be done that way. I didn't like their neutralizing 'poo--too drying. I'm going to use Profectiv neutralizing mousse next time. I also didn't like the SE conditioner.

I'm texlaxed. I used the silk elements mild lye for a corrective.

When I first relaxed, i used soft and beautiful regular no-lye for 12 minutes with no smoothing. It did nothing for most of my hair. So I waited a little less than a week, used some roux porosity control the day before. On the day of the corrective, I based my scalp with vaseline, and put kenra color maintenance conditioner in my hair to make sure it kept the wave pattern. Then I let it dry and used the silk elements. No burning, no shedding, and overall my hair is in good shape. It doesn't even feel as dry and brittle as it did with the soft and beautiful. Silk elements is a keeper.

Am I reading this right? You left the relaxer in your hair for 50 minutes and did not over-process at all?

I went and bought this last weekend. I read the ingredients (which were great BTW) to decide if I wanted to reg or coarse. I noticed the ingredients were the same though! For all of them-mild,coarse,and regular.

Is it the concentration of the ingredients thats different? Because the ingredients were all in the EXACT same order...

This is the relaxer I used last time. I didn't experience any burning or tingling. I used the regular strength lye version (but I think I am going to use the mild no lye version next time). My beautician left it on for about 15-17 minutes and my hair was pretty straight (but not bone straight). I didn't use the neutralizing poo (I used motions) but I did use the conditioner, but I didn't like it.

Mizani Mami, what strength are you gonna use, mild or regular??

I am between options. I am thinking either the mild or the reg. But this 4b hair ain't no joke. Bantu even underpocessed me. But I wanna stay texlaxed, but kinda straight.

I don't know, which one are you using? Are you gonna texlax or relax straight?

Well I used the regular one last time but it got me bone straight. I kinda wanna try mild but dont know if Ill be underprocessed. The last time I used a mild lye(elasta qp), my hair was kinky in 4 weeks so I dunno... I think I kinda wanna texlax cuz I dont like the really straight look

I have been using this relaxer for a while now. My hair is also now colored and I have not experience breakage or burning from this relaxer. This relaxer is a keeper for me.
